102: Sharp questions
Professor Liang smiled meaningfully after hearing Qiao Yu's words without exposing anything; it was a case of mutual flattery, but the most crucial reason was naturally that Qiao Yu could provide great value to the military.
"Since War God Qiao has decided to cooperate with the military, the next steps are no longer something I can decide independently; the Military High Command needs to discuss it together."
"Let's keep it simple and just use communication tools for the discussion."
Professor Liang stepped aside and pointed toward the warplane behind him.
Qiao Yu nodded, then entered their warplane surrounded by Professor Liang and six military Martial Artists, leaving the four members of the Investigation Team staring at each other in blank dismay.
"The matter has more or less come to an end. Are we leaving or not?"
Li Zheng scratched his head and looked at Feng Zhisheng with a Face full of questions.
Feng Zhisheng said crossly.
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"
After Qiao Yu entered the warplane, Professor Liang immediately led the way to his private room within the aircraft, while the six Martial Artists stood guard outside the door.
Qiao Yu couldn't help but nod after entering the room.
As expected of a researcher the military would send for negotiations; the warplane alone was several times larger than that of the Investigation Team, and he even had his own private room. Although he was an ordinary person in terms of strength, his status must be quite high.
Professor Liang led Qiao Yu to a tea table in the room, and the two sat facing each other. Professor Liang began boiling water and brewing tea on his own, while Qiao Yu was in no hurry to rush him. Dealing with someone like Professor Liang required being steady and composed; otherwise, one might accidentally fall into a trap, though he might just be overthinking it.
"War God Qiao, there's something I must apologize for first. Actually, our entire conversation just now was being monitored by the Military High Command. On one hand, it's to understand the situation, and on the other, it's naturally for my personal safety. I hope you don't mind."
Professor Liang apologized while pouring a cup of tea and handing it to Qiao Yu.
Qiao Yu was well aware of this and only nodded slightly, showing no displeasure.
"War God Qiao, you might not know, but when your situation was reported to the top, the entire high command was alarmed, right when we were flying on the Black-crowned Golden Eagle."
"Being able to domesticate monsters on a large scale already sets you apart from other Psycher Masters, and being able to domesticate a Lord-level Monster—to be honest, you are the only one on Earth."
"Because of your situation, the highest level of the military has convened an emergency meeting, and our subsequent conversation will be transmitted to the meeting in real-time."
Professor Liang smiled and pressed a button on the tea table, automatically dialing the signal.
A projection screen popped up, and soon the feed from the military conference room was connected.
For security reasons, the Faces of all participants had undergone special processing, making it impossible to see their true appearances.
"Qiao Yu, we in the official administration have also investigated you and know your identity information. Next, I will ask you some questions, and your answers will serve as a reference for the Military High Command to provide you with corresponding benefits and treatment."
Professor Liang's entire aura changed as if he were a different person, and his tone became very serious.
"Please go ahead, Professor Liang."
Qiao Yu also became serious. After all, he was dealing with official personnel and had to give them enough Face; more importantly, this concerned his own interests.
"Qiao Yu, when did you become a Martial Artist, and when did you become a Psycher Master? Is the improvement of your Martial Artist strength related to becoming a Psycher Master?"
Qiao Yu looked thoughtful and quickly replied.
"I reached the level of a Martial Artist in July and officially became a Martial Artist in August. As for becoming a Psycher Master, it should have been even earlier, but I can't remember the exact time."
Professor Liang nodded and continued to ask.
"Qiao Yu, has your current strength already reached the level of an Intermediate War God Level Psycher Master?"
Qiao Yu nodded without hesitation and said.
"I've been an Intermediate War God Level Psycher Master for some time now. I feel that my body will achieve a Breakthrough to the Primary War God Level in a few days, and my Psychic Power will also achieve a Breakthrough to the Advanced War God Level!"
"What? Achieving a Breakthrough to the Primary War God Level in just a few short months?"
"If his Psychic Power can continue to achieve a Breakthrough to the Advanced War God Level, it means his mental potential still has a surplus. This boy is highly likely to surpass the God of War and become a Planetary Level existence!"
Surprised voices came from the projection screen, and several figures even stood up on the spot, staring intently at Qiao Yu through the screen.
Professor Liang also looked at the young man before him with a slightly shocked gaze. It was mainly because he had already experienced several events today that caused intense emotional fluctuations, so he wasn't as shaken anymore.
"Cough, cough!"
The Man in Black sitting in the main seat coughed, and the high-ranking officials who had stood up noticed their composure and sat back down.
"Qiao Yu, why did you join both the Dojo of Limits and the Thunderbolt Martial Arts School? Could you be a spy for another country with ulterior motives?"
Professor Liang composed himself, and his questions became increasingly sharp.
"Why else? Wasn't I forced to join by the Thunder God? He came to find me personally; could I have resisted? He said he'd take me as a disciple, but after I joined, he became a hands-off manager. Aside from being able to read the Nine-Layered Thunder Blade for free, the other resources provided aren't even as much as the Martial Artist startup funds given by the Dojo of Limits. I didn't even want to join."
"And now I'm a spy? I lost my mother when I was young and my father at fourteen. I only survived until eighteen thanks to the help of my father's coworkers. Now that I've had an Awakening as a Psycher Master, I'm a spy? Then everyone is a spy—might as well arrest them all. You can question my character, but you cannot question my sincere, patriotic heart!"
Qiao Yu spoke as if he were a resentful woman, nearly on the verge of cursing at the screen. Of course, this was all intentional. A hot-tempered young man was clearly more fitting for his age than a sophisticated persona, and it could also dispel some of the Military High Command's doubts.
Professor Liang lightly nudged Qiao Yu with his toe to get him to restrain himself. Qiao Yu then stopped, simply turning his head away and no longer looking at the screen.
The military, however, was long accustomed to this and showed no surprised reaction. Clearly, this kind of behavior was exactly what they wanted to see; only through sharp questions could they better judge a person's character.
"Ahem, let's continue."
"Qiao Yu, your talent as a Psycher Master allows you to domesticate monsters in large quantities, and even Lord-level Monsters. Are there any objective limitations to your talent? Have you reached the upper limit for domesticating Lord-level Monsters?"
Professor Liang coughed twice to ease the tense situation and continued.
"Limitations? Of course there are limitations! Doesn't domesticating monsters consume my Mental Energy? Beast Soldier Level monsters are fine, but the higher the level of the monster, the more Psychic Power it consumes. If good resources are provided, I won't have to overdraw my mental potential, and maybe I can even domesticate monsters that Surpass the Lord Level in the future!"
