Synopsis
Li Muchen was reborn, carrying the memories of his previous life, but became the unluckiest graduate of the Taoist University—without background or resources, he was transferred to a desolate, godforsaken mountain in Jin Province.
There was only one dilapidated temple on the mountain, Qingfeng Temple. The old abbot had long since passed away, and the temple had been abandoned. The nearest village was ten miles away. As far as the eye could see, the mountain was barren, the temple was broken, and even the rats would find the place too poor.
In this land where Buddhism flourished, a solitary Taoist temple stood, with only one abbot in command. Li Muchen stared at the leaky roof and silently packed his belongings: "I might as well skip this shift!"
The moment he stepped out of the Taoist temple gate—
[Ding! Detection indicates the host has officially assumed the position of Abbot; the Destiny and Fortuitous Opportunity System is activated!]
[This place offers one exclusive opportunity each day!]
Li Muchen turned around, looked at the dilapidated plaque of the Taoist temple, and suddenly smiled.
From that day on, spiritual herbs began to grow on the barren mountain, and a clear light shone from the dilapidated temple every night. Springs gushed forth from the dry well, and ancient trees blossomed. Villagers who occasionally went up the mountain would often hear faint chanting coming from the temple and see the young abbot standing in the clouds, like an immortal.
Until one day, Shanxi Province suffered a severe drought, and the Buddhist temple held a prayer ceremony for rain for three days without success.
Clad in green robes, Li Muchen ascended the altar. He simply looked up at the sky and softly said, "The wind comes."
In an instant, dark clouds covered the sun, and thunder roared.
In front of the live-streaming cameras, the phantom image of the Taoist temple behind him soared into the sky, covering half of the mountains and rivers.
Only then did everyone realize—
In that nearly forgotten, dilapidated Taoist temple lived... the only true immortal in the world.
