135: Chapter 135 Swinging the Sword
Bai Yu swung his sword.
The power of annihilation on the true immortal sword erupted to its limit.
The sword light slashed onto the giant dragon.
The giant dragon exploded.
But the upper realm heavenly dao was already right before his eyes.
He struck out with a palm.
Bai Yu raised his hand to parry.
Boom!
Bai Yu was sent flying by the shock.
He crashed onto the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Master!" The Fifteen Disciples wanted to rush over.
"Don't come over!" Bai Yu shouted.
He struggled to stand up.
The spiritual energy within his body circulated frantically.
Late Stage Immortal King.
Peak Immortal King.
Half-step Immortal Emperor.
"He can still Breakthrough?" The upper realm heavenly dao was somewhat surprised.
"Yes." Bai Yu gripped the true immortal sword tightly.
The power of annihilation on the sword's blade suddenly vanished.
It was replaced by a patch of nothingness.
No.
It wasn't nothingness.
It was something deeper than nothingness.
"This is..." The upper realm heavenly dao's expression changed drastically.
"true immortal sword, ultimate form."
Bai Yu opened his eyes.
"Obliteration."
The sword light slashed out.
There was no sound.
There was no light.
There weren't even any energy fluctuations.
But the upper realm heavenly dao could feel it.
The power of this strike exceeded his imagination.
"Damn it..."
He grit his teeth, and the aura on his body rose frantically.
Mid-stage Immortal King.
Late Stage Immortal King.
Peak Immortal King.
Half-step Immortal Emperor.
Early Stage Immortal Emperor.
But the sword light still didn't stop.
It slashed onto his body.
The upper realm heavenly dao's body began to collapse.
"Impossible... I am the upper realm heavenly dao... how could this..."
Bai Yu sheathed his sword.
"The upper realm heavenly dao can die, too."
The upper realm heavenly dao's body completely dissipated.
The crack in the sky began to close.
The Lower Realm returned to tranquility.
Bai Yu knelt on one knee.
This battle had exhausted all of his strength.
"Master!"
The Fifteen Disciples rushed over.
"I'm fine." Bai Yu waved his hand.
He struggled to stand up.
Looking at the sky.
"It's finally over."
After saying that, Bai Yu collapsed.
It wasn't a fall; he simply lay flat on his back in the courtyard, facing the sky.
The surroundings were silent for a few seconds.
"Master?"
No one answered.
Bai Wuji squatted down to check his breathing; he was still breathing, but his spiritual energy was exhausted, and his Divine Soul had sustained significant injuries.
"He's still alive." He stood up and turned to look at everyone. "Carry Master inside."
Lin Tian and Chu Han stepped forward, one lifting his legs and the other supporting his head, and carried Bai Yu into the room.
Luo Bingli followed behind, holding a Medicinal Pill in her hand, unsure whether to administer it now.
"Put it aside for now." Medicine Not So walked over, took the pill, and glanced at it. "In Master's current state, his Meridians haven't stabilized yet; there's no use in rushing to feed him medicine."
"Then what should we do?"
"Wait."
Everyone scattered around the courtyard; no one spoke.
After fighting so many battles, Master was always like this: win, fall, then get back up. It was just that this time he had collapsed so completely that he didn't even have any consciousness left.
Bai Wuji sat on the steps, staring at the closed door.
Jin Wusuan flicked his abacus and looked up. "By my calculations, Master will need to rest for at least ten days this time."
"Your abacus can even calculate that?" Gu Dusheng leaned in to look at the abacus.
"Beat it."
Only these two could start an argument at any time.
The atmosphere in the courtyard actually loosened up a bit.
Luo Bingli pulled up a chair and sat down, looking at the sky. The upper realm heavenly dao was dead, the crack had long since closed, and the sky looked no different than usual. However, she always felt that things weren't that simple.
"Now that the upper realm heavenly dao is dead, what will happen to the Upper Realm?" she asked aloud.
No one could answer.
After a long while, Bai Wuji spoke, "It will probably be in chaos for a while."
"Chaos is better." Lin Tian paced back and forth in the courtyard. "If it's in chaos, they won't have time to worry about us."
That was true. However, everything has two sides; if the Upper Realm was in chaos, something might also emerge from the turmoil.
They waited like this for two days.
On the morning of the third day, Void Realm fell from the sky.
He didn't walk in; he literally fell from the sky, crashing into the middle of the courtyard and kicking up a cloud of dust.
Everyone looked over in unison.
Void Realm climbed up and brushed off his robe, his expression very calm. "Where is Bai Yu?"
"In the room." Bai Wuji stared at him. "Why are you here?"
"I heard he killed the upper realm heavenly dao, so I came to see if he's completely dead."
"Are you talking about Master or the upper realm heavenly dao?"
"Bai Yu." Void Realm sat down on a stone stool. "That trash, the upper realm heavenly dao, is dead and gone; he's not worth a special visit."
Gu Dusheng leaned in. "You are the Lord of the Void?"
"Yes."
"How did you fall from the sky?"
Void Realm paused for a moment and didn't answer the question.
Inside the room, Bai Yu woke up at this time.
He opened his eyes and stared at the roof beams above for a while, sensing the state of his body. His spiritual energy hadn't recovered yet, and though his Divine Soul was still there, it felt like a thin layer that could dissipate at any moment.
He sat up, pushed open the door, and walked out.
In the courtyard, Void Realm was the first to see him and moved his gaze away from Gu Dusheng. "Not dead."
"No kidding." Bai Yu sat down across from him. "What are you here for?"
"To offer congratulations," Void Realm said. "You killed the upper realm heavenly dao; this is the first time anyone has ever done it."
Bai Yu picked up the tea on the table and took a sip, not saying a word.
"But this matter is somewhat troublesome," Void Realm continued. "Without a Heavenly Dao in the Upper Realm, order will become an issue."
"I can't worry about that much."
"You can't, but the Upper Realm will appoint a new Heavenly Dao." Void Realm looked at him. "The new one might be even more difficult to deal with than the old one."
Bai Yu put down his teacup.
This was indeed reasonable. He had spent so much effort to kill the old heavenly dao; he didn't know what kind of character the new one would be.
"When will the new Heavenly Dao appear?"
"Uncertain. If it's fast, it won't even take a year."
Bai Yu was silent for a moment, then stood up and walked toward the back mountain.
Void Realm followed as well. The two walked to the edge of a small lake and stood there without speaking. The lake's surface was very still, and the wind was light.
"I have a question," Bai Yu spoke.
"Speak."
"You've been helping me all along, giving resources and information. What's in it for you?" Bai Yu turned to look at him.
Void Realm didn't answer immediately.
After a silence of about a dozen breaths, he finally said, "You are the most interesting lower realm heavenly dao in nearly thirty thousand years."
"That's not a reason."
"True." Void Realm paused. "That group of people in the Upper Realm should have been disrupted long ago. You did something I wanted to do but wasn't convenient for me to do."
Bai Yu turned back and looked at the lake's surface.
This sounded like the truth.
"Then what do you plan to do when the new upper realm heavenly dao appears?"
"Continue helping you," Void Realm said. "Of course, this time there will be a fee."
"...Didn't you say before that there was no need for thanks?"
"That was before." Void Realm spoke with righteous confidence. "Your strength has grown now, and you aren't lacking in those meager resources, so we need to change the method of settlement."
Bai Yu glanced at him. "What do you want?"
"Once you Breakthrough to a higher Realm, you will owe me a favor. Just that." Void Realm held up one finger.
Bai Yu thought for a moment and nodded. "Fine."
The two stood by the lake for a while longer before walking back.
In the courtyard, Medicine Not So had somehow conjured up a table of food and was calling everyone over. Gu Dusheng snatched a seat, and Lin Tian, annoyed that he had taken a good spot, pushed him aside by half a body's width. The two jostled back and forth, but didn't formally start a fight.
