110: Chapter 109 Collecting Resources from the Stone Clan

Hun Tiandi and Zhu Kun deliberately put on a tense, confrontational act; every word and action was performed for Gu Yuan to see.

From their conversation and the injuries on Void Swallowing Flame, Gu Yuan had a rough idea of what had happened.

It was likely that Zhu Kun arrived first and happened to encounter the Hun Clan destroying the Shi Clan. Zhu Kun probably took a fancy to the second-ranked Void Swallowing Flame and wanted to capture him, and Hun Tiandi arrived to rescue him.

It was very logical, and Gu Yuan did not suspect anything amiss at all.

He would never have guessed that these two seemingly hostile individuals might have already reached a cooperation agreement.

The facts were right before his eyes; it was a fact that Void Swallowing Flame had been injured by Zhu Kun.

More importantly, on the way here, he had already seen the corpses of Soul Mirror and Soul Sha.

Zhu Kun had killed two Seven-Star Dou Sheng of the Hun Clan.

Those were two Seven-Star Dou Sheng!

Gu Yuan clicked his tongue in secret; think of how much resources and time it took to cultivate a single Seven-Star Dou Sheng.

The Hun Clan losing two at once was undoubtedly a heavy blow to their vitality.

Gu Yuan really could not imagine how Hun Tiandi could restrain his anger.

If it were the Gu Clan, and two of the Three Immortals were killed by Zhu Kun, Gu Yuan would have to fight Zhu Kun to the death.

Gu Yuan: "Hun Tiandi, now that your Hun Clan dares to openly attack the Shi Clan and slaughter the entire clan, are you truly not afraid that the rest of us Dou Di Clans will unite and completely annihilate your Hun Clan?"

Upon hearing this, the corners of Hun Tiandi's mouth curled into a sneer, and his tone was mocking: "Back when I was severely injured and my strength had plummeted, you, Gu Yuan, still dared not make a move against my Hun Clan, let alone now?"

Gu Yuan was furious: "Brother Zhu, how about we attack together?"

Although it might not be possible to keep Hun Tiandi here, Gu Yuan still wanted to try.

With Gu Yuan's arrival, Hun Tiandi did not intend to stay long and prepared to leave with Void Swallowing Flame.

"Gu Yuan, you might be able to act without restraint on your own, but he is still bringing someone along. Are you trying to get someone's son-in-law into trouble?"

After saying this, Hun Tiandi did not linger, and taking Void Swallowing Flame with him, he turned and left.

With Hun Tiandi gone, Gu Yuan did not dare to pursue him alone.

Hun Tiandi was devious; no one knew if he was deliberately luring him into a pursuit to set an ambush and plot against him. He did not dare to take that risk.

Zhu Kun said with a look of regret: "Sigh, if I weren't afraid of Hun Tiandi acting like a cornered dog and harming my son-in-law, I would have definitely kept Void Swallowing Flame here today. Such a good Heavenly Flame, to let it run away like this, it's truly a pity."

Gu Yuan did not suspect Zhu Kun either; if his daughter were by his side, he would not choose to act either, given the constraints.

Gu Yuan pondered for a moment and then tried to persuade him again: "Brother Zhu, Hun Tiandi is a man who seeks revenge for the slightest grievance and is narrow-minded. A thousand years ago, because of some grudges, he directly wiped out the Xiao Clan with ruthless methods.

Today, you killed two of his Seven-Star Dou Sheng, damaging his face and his strength. He will definitely not let this go easily and will surely seek revenge on you in the future."

He paused, then continued: "Our Dou Di Clans have long had a covenant, which stipulates that if one party breaks the rules and slaughters another clan, the other clans can unite to destroy the one who broke the covenant.

Now that the Hun Clan has broken the rules and wiped out the Shi Clan, we have a common enemy. How about we unite to resist the Hun Clan?"

As Hun Tiandi had said, in the past when Hun Tiandi was severely injured, Gu Yuan still dared not act against the Hun Clan, let alone now that Void Swallowing Flame, a Nine-Star Dou Sheng, had joined the Hun Clan.

Even if the other Dou Di Clans agreed, Gu Yuan would likely still have many concerns.

Therefore, Gu Yuan was thinking of pulling Zhu Kun into his camp.

Zhu Kun heard this and sneered disdainfully: "If he dares to come for revenge, I don't mind finding the Soul Realm and slaughtering everyone there, letting him know my power."

Gu Yuan was a bit anxious: "But Hun Tiandi has already wiped out the Shi Clan and taken the Shi Clan's Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade. If we let him continue to collect all the ancient jade fragments and break through to the Dou Di Realm, none of us will be his match, and the entire Fighting Qi Continent will be controlled by the Hun Clan!"

Zhu Kun waved his hand to interrupt him: "Clan Chief Gu Yuan, this is a matter for your Dou Di Clans; it has nothing to do with me. As long as the Hun Clan does not make a move against the Ling Clan, I will not interfere."

...

After bidding farewell to Gu Yuan, Ling Yuan did not leave immediately but turned back to retrieve the corpses of Soul Mirror and Soul Sha.

It was fortunate that these two were Late Stage Seven-Star Dou Sheng powerhouses with decent physical bodies. Although they had been killed by Zhu Kun, their physical bodies remained intact and were not shattered by the power of the Dragon Emperor Claw.

Such physical bodies were useful to keep; in the future, they could be used to refine Puppets to become combat forces for the Ling Clan.

If this had been a powerhouse below the Seven-Star Dou Sheng level, they would have been shattered instantly upon taking that full-force blow from Zhu Kun, leaving not even a scrap of remains behind.

One only needs to look at the Five-Star Dou Sheng, Huang Tian, to understand this point.

After collecting the two corpses and confirming there were no omissions, Ling Yuan returned to the Shi Realm once more.

At this time, the Shi Realm was still deathly silent. More than a hundred surviving members of the Shi Clan were spontaneously gathering together, silently collecting the corpses of their deceased clansmen.

Void Swallowing Flame had fled in such a rush that he had only managed to take the Shi Clan's Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade and the Dou Di Bloodline from several Shi Clan Dou Sheng; he had not had time to loot anything else from the Shi Clan.

More importantly, the Shi Clan's treasury had not been touched by the Hun Clan. This was the true reason why Ling Yuan had returned.

Although the Shi Clan was the weakest among the Dou Di Clans and had long since declined, they had still been passed down for tens of thousands of years and possessed a certain foundation.

The treasury must contain quite a few Heaven And Earth Treasures, Cultivation Techniques, and Dou Techniques; these resources were extremely useful to the Ling Clan.

Now was the lowest point for the Shi Clan, and it was the perfect time for the Ling Clan to reasonably take over all of the Shi Clan's resources.

Ling Yuan spoke to those members of the Shi Clan who were collecting corpses:

"I am Ling Yuan, the Young Clan Leader of the Ling Clan. The Ling Clan and the Shi Clan have always been on good terms. Now that the Shi Clan has suffered such a disaster and been slaughtered by the Hun Clan, I am also very saddened. However, in order to allow the Shi Clan's Dou Di Bloodline to continue, my Ling Clan is willing to take you in and protect your safety."

Ling Yuan was not lying to them when he said this.

If all of the Shi Clan's resources could fall into the hands of the Ling Clan, it would be equivalent to these Shi clansmen paying a "protection fee" to the Ling Clan. So, what would be the harm in the Ling Clan protecting these hundred or so people?

At the very least, Ling Yuan would not be like the Gu Clan, letting the Shi Clan become like the Xiao Clan, where the strongest person was only a Great Dou Master.

Ling Yuan wanted the Shi Clan's resources, and the surviving members of the Shi Clan were also aware of this.

Although these people were unwilling, they had no other choice if they wanted to continue the Shi Clan's Bloodline.

These hundred or so people, holding the resources of the Shi Clan's treasury in their hands, would definitely be coveted by other forces.

And their strength, at its strongest, was only at the Dou Zong Realm; it was impossible for them to protect these resources.

Not only would they be unable to keep the resources, but they might even be completely wiped out because of them. When that time came, the Shi Clan would truly disappear forever.
