214: Cecilia is no longer a maid
Chapter 214: Cecilia, No Longer the Attendant
Late at night, Cecilia walked out of a hospital in the Royal Capital's Inner City.
Although the streets were bustling, her face was full of worry, and looking at the bottles of magic potions in her hand, she couldn't help but sigh.
Cecilia was sick, and seriously so, at least that's what she thought.
Today Elizabeth didn't need to leave the Royal Palace, so Cecilia specifically took a day off; she had to hurry and see a doctor.
The last time she slept was in the Underground City, in Kun's transformed RV, and that was already several days ago.
Yesterday, Cecilia lay in bed all night, becoming more and more energetic the longer she lay there, and the magic power within her body was even boiling.
Yet before, she only needed to close her eyes for five seconds to clear her mind and fall asleep.
Such severe insomnia made Cecilia scared; her own body breaking down was a small matter, but being unable to take care of Elizabeth was a big deal!
After so many years, Cecilia had long been used to following behind Elizabeth; the job of the Empress's attendant was the most important part of her life.
Besides the severe insomnia, Cecilia also discovered other problems with her body, each one more serious than the last.
Firstly, her bright silver long hair had become dull and lifeless, and even the roots had all turned black!
It was easy to imagine that before long, Cecilia's hair would turn from beautiful silver to ominous black; this was definitely a serious illness!
When showering yesterday, Cecilia also discovered that not only had her hair turned black, but other body hair had also...
Secondly, Cecilia's magic power had also turned black, and it was accompanied by a faint black mist, which was just like a Black Wizard!
Cecilia didn't remember joining the Wizard Association, much less practicing witchcraft, yet her magic power had undergone a huge change.
Lastly, and most importantly, when facing direct sunlight during the day, Cecilia would feel unusually irritable, even unbearable.
The sun hanging high in the sky, the symbol of all life, the embodiment of warmth and justice, was nauseating in Cecilia's eyes.
The more she looked, the more nauseated Cecilia felt, to the point where she started wearing a hood during the day.
Cecilia found her changes difficult to accept.
In the near future, she would have black hair, black eyes, and black magic power, wearing a heavy robe hood, avoiding the sun, and walking in the shadows...
This was simply the most classic Black Wizard, the type who would definitely be questioned by patrol knights if they walked down the street.
Cecilia prided herself on being an upright and honest person; she didn't want to become that kind of dark character!
But now, Cecilia was increasingly accepting this change, even feeling that it was how things should be.
"The medical practitioners can't find any problems, what should I do..."
Today's hospital trip was fruitless; over a dozen experienced old medical practitioners all unanimously agreed that Cecilia was healthy and had no illness whatsoever.
And now, the magic potions in Cecilia's hands were nothing more than some anti-anxiety medication.
Everyone knew Cecilia's identity; she was a princess of the Royal Family, and even more, a close confidante of the Empress, so the medical practitioners didn't dare to prescribe medicine carelessly.
"Perhaps... I should go find Dick, maybe he'll have a solution."
As she thought, Cecilia changed direction and walked towards the Academy, but soon, she fell into a dilemma again.
"Dick is currently busy with the Magical Guidance Innovation Project, I shouldn't trouble him with this small matter of mine."
Saying this, Cecilia stopped again and turned to walk towards the Royal Palace.
"No, if I'm sick and can't take care of Your Majesty, this is a big deal and must be dealt with quickly!"
So, Cecilia changed direction again and ran towards the Academy.
"But Your Majesty hasn't been leaving the Royal Palace recently, and it seems okay without my care..."
Just as Cecilia was hesitating on the spot, Dick's voice sounded from behind.
"A small illness delayed for too long will become a serious illness," Dick approached with a smile, speaking slowly, "and a serious illness delayed for too long will become incurable."
Seemingly not wanting Dick to know she was sick, Cecilia turned sideways and whispered, "Dick, how did you know I was here..."
"I actually have a superpower."
"What is it?"
"I can teleport to the side of every girl who thinks of me."
"That's amazing, can you teach me?"
Cecilia genuinely wanted to learn, because that way, as long as Elizabeth thought of her, she could instantly teleport over, which would be very convenient for her attendant duties.
Dick's mouth twitched, and the sweet words on his lips were swallowed back; he had forgotten Cecilia's serious personality.
"Compared to superpowers, shouldn't you solve your own problem first?"
Hearing this, Cecilia's face turned gloomy, and she looked at Dick and said, "I probably... won't live much longer. Not sleeping for a long time will lead to brain death."
"And..."
Cecilia extended her hands and condensed a ball of magic power; it was a deep, inky, ominous color, and it emitted terrifying black mist.
"It seems I've suffered a terrible curse, and coupled with this serious illness, perhaps my life is coming to an end."
Dick was somewhat speechless; he grabbed Cecilia's hand and walked towards the side of the road, where a luxurious Royal Family carriage was parked.
After getting in the carriage, Cecilia saw Elizabeth who was eating skewers, and said somewhat, "Your, Your Majesty?! What are you eating?"
"It's street food! You absolutely wouldn't believe how cheap it is; a large skewer of meat is less than one silver coin, and you can even add your own sauce..."
"Your Majesty, stop immediately, let me taste it for poison first!"
Saying this, Cecilia was about to snatch the skewer, but Elizabeth ate it all in one bite.
"Hmph, if you want to eat, go buy it yourself. Dick and I waited in line for a long time to get this..."
Looking at Elizabeth, whose mouth was greasy, Cecilia's face turned cold, and she looked at Dick seriously, saying, "Which vendor is it? Are their ancestors clean for eighteen generations? And what are the raw ingredients?"
"It's Old Charlie from Jewel Street; he's a retired Royal Guard, and the meat is fat lamb just slaughtered today."
Dick was well-prepared and was explaining unhurriedly; he would not be careless or lax.
When it came to being steady, Dick had never lost.
"Your Majesty, next time you leave the Royal Palace, please don't forget to tell me..."
Cecilia said with concern while wiping Elizabeth's mouth, looking like a mother taking care of her child.
"Cecilia..."
Suddenly, Elizabeth gently held Cecilia's hand and said sincerely, "You've worked hard all these years."
"Your Majesty, what are you saying? As your attendant, isn't it only natural for me to take care of you? There's nothing hard about it..."
Cecilia's expression was strange; it was the first time she had seen Elizabeth say something like this, it was almost like... words of farewell.
The next second, Cecilia's worries came true.
"From now on, you will no longer be my attendant, because the Royal Family cannot keep a Witch, and neither can the Aimiya Empire."
Elizabeth forced herself to be calm; she wanted to put on a ruthless appearance, but tears still welled up in her eyes uncontrollably.
