14: Chapter 14 Eliminating the Weeds at the Root
Inside the mountain gate, over a dozen Dadao Sect Disciples had swarmed out, wielding various Magical Artifacts in a scattered formation, shouting and cursing all at once.
"Who dares to run amok in the Dadao Sect!"
"Surround them, don't let a single one get away!"
"Quickly invite the Sect Leader!"
Amidst the noisy battle cries, a rough voice exploded from deep within the mountain gate.
"Who dares to infringe upon my Dadao Sect!"
Accompanied by a flash of yellow light, a burly, bald-headed man swooped out from the inner hall.
The man was eight feet tall, with a tiger's back and a bear's waist. Three blade scars crossed his flesh-laden face, and he held a door-sized nine-ringed golden saber in his hand, its nine copper rings rattling noisily on the back of the blade.
The person who came was none other than the Dadao Sect Leader, Tian Hu.
Following behind him were seven or eight Disciples. As he slammed the golden saber onto the ground, the stone bricks shattered in response.
He glanced at the corpse on the ground, then raised his eyes to look at the four people opposite him.
Then his pupils suddenly constricted.
The gray-robed elder standing at the very front was quietly looking at him.
That face with wrinkles as deep as knife-carvings caused a layer of cold sweat to instantly seep from Tian Hu's back.
"Why did that old immortal Wang Chongyang come, and why did he bring so many people?"
Rolling his eyes, he saw the figure of a young man standing beside Wang Chongyang, dressed in white with a black lotus at his brow.
Tian Hu's pupils suddenly dilated, and he quickly lowered his head, trying his best to hide his shock.
Yet stormy seas were churning in his heart, "This, this, Wang Shouren is still alive, could it be that matter has come to light?"
Swallowing a mouthful of saliva, he forcibly suppressed his heart that was about to jump to his throat, and bowed respectfully toward Wang Chongyang.
"Wang... Senior Wang, what wind blew you here, old sir?"
The anger on his face instantly turned into a flattering smile, but that smile was incomparably stiff, uglier than crying.
"Senior Wang has graced our humble sect, and Tian has failed to welcome you from afar. Please forgive me, Senior..."
Wang Chongyang did not reply.
He still stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze calmly sweeping over those Disciples behind Tian Hu.
The sweat beads on Tian Hu's forehead streamed down along the blade scar on his face. He swallowed a mouthful of saliva once more, forcing a smile.
"I wonder what business brings Senior Wang to our door today? Could it be that this Junior has done something inadequately? Please give your instruction, Senior, and this Junior will definitely—"
"Having dragged it out for so long, are all the people here?"
"Senior's words... this Junior doesn't understand." The smile on Tian Hu's face could no longer hold up completely, and his hand gripping the saber tightened unconsciously.
Wang Shouren stood behind Wang Chongyang, glanced at him, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly: "Don't understand? Then I will help you recall."
He took a step forward.
"Late at night four days ago, a Loose Cultivator sneaked into our Wang Family's Qinhu Mountain spirit fields, intending to surround and kill me."
Tian Hu's face turned a shade paler.
"Before dying, they confessed a name."
"It's over!" Tian Hu retreated three steps, his face deathly pale.
Wang Shouren's gaze was like a knife, and he said word by word.
"It was your Dadao Sect that pulled the strings."
"Nonsense!"
Tian Hu abruptly interrupted, laughing out of extreme anger.
"A mere child spouting nonsense! The Dadao Sect and the Wang Family have thirty years of friendship, and Senior Wang is even my, Tian's, benefactor. How could I do such a thing? You must not slander—"
"Say it again."
The one who spoke was Wang Chongyang.
There was no stern shout, no oppressive might, just four plain and simple words, yet they made Tian Hu's voice stop abruptly.
"If I don't believe my own grandson, would I believe you? The Dadao Sect has brought harm for many years. Did I not tell you back then that the Wang Family can allow you to establish a sect, and can also make you vanish into ashes overnight."
Tian Hu's lips trembled twice.
He looked at Wang Chongyang's eyes, which looked as though they were looking at ants, knowing that arguing further had no meaning whatsoever.
In front of a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, there were simply no secrets. As long as the other party was willing, even what posture he used at night would have to be confessed in detail.
Closing his eyes deeply, Tian Hu felt as if all his strength had been drained away at this moment.
"Do I regret it?" He had asked himself many times in his heart over the past few days.
"No! I do not regret it!!!"
"Rather than perishing together with the Wang Family, it's better to heartily gamble for wealth and honor."
The expression on his face changed drastically—from panic to despair, from despair to ferocity.
"That's right! I was the one who pulled the strings!"
Tian Hu abruptly drew his golden saber, holding it horizontally across his chest. The flesh on his face twitched uncontrollably, and his ox-like eyes bulged and turned red.
"But that was also you Wang Family forcing me! My Dadao Sect has holed up in this impoverished mountain ditch for thirty years, and the income of thirty years is not even enough for your Wang Family's spirit fish revenue of one year! Laozi acts like a dog for you, you eat meat, and you don't even give us a sip of soup! If I don't look for the Ning Family, am I supposed to wait to go down with your Wang Family—"
"Noisy."
Wang Chongyang did not wait for him to finish speaking.
He raised his right hand, his withered index finger gently pointing forward.
A flash of fire flickered at his fingertips.
That was a fist-sized crimson flame, so pure that there was not a trace of impurity.
The moment it detached from Wang Chongyang's fingertips, a low hum came from the air, as if something had been suddenly ignited.
Tian Hu's pupils suddenly constricted, and he let out a roar bordering on madness. With all his might, his whole body's Qi poured into the golden saber, the nine rings ringing in unison, and the Saber Qi surged by three feet, chopping out a golden blade radiance to meet that ball of flame.
That ball of flame did not pause, not even having a trace of stagnation.
The golden radiance was annihilated, the Magical Artifact was burned through, and the flame passed through the golden saber, passing through Tian Hu's chest. His eyes widened into balls, and he lowered his head to look at the bowl-sized charred hole on his chest.
His proud copper bones and iron muscles actually didn't play the slightest role. His lips fluttered one last time, yet he couldn't utter a single word.
The nine-ringed golden saber clattered to the ground, and Tian Hu fell backward toward the sky, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Foundation Establishment true fire burns upon contact.
"Sect... Sect Leader!"
"The Sect Leader is dead!"
"Run quickly—"
The remaining Dadao Sect Disciples instantly boiled over in panic.
Wang Shouren was quite shocked. A dignified great Qi Refining eighth-layer Cultivator who also specialized in a Body Refining Cultivation Technique actually couldn't block the casual strike of the Sixth Clan Uncle.
Once Tian Hu died, the remaining Disciples were headless flies, and no one dared to step forward to avenge Tian Hu.
Wang Chongyang glanced at those people, and with the purpose of examining him, asked.
"The chief culprit has been executed. Ren'er, what do you think should be done next?"
Wang Shouren pondered for a sound, without too much hesitation, and spoke decisively.
"This grandson believes that if you beat a snake and don't kill it, you will be bitten by it instead. We must eradicate them completely to eliminate future troubles!"
Wang Chongyang was startled, then laughed heartily, "Good, neither irresolute nor indecisive. Yaozu presides over major matters in the Family; if he were able to come, he would surely be gratified. Since that is the case, today you shall preside over the subsequent matters, and this old man will back you up."
"Yes, Shouren obeys." Wang Shouren's expression flashed with joy. This was the first time he had taken over authority, even though it was temporary.
Flicking his sleeves, he resolutely turned around to face the Disciples within the Family, "Second Uncle, Third Uncle, and all uncles, strike together! The Shou-generation will guard the outer perimeter; regardless of old or young, if anyone tries to escape, execute them directly!"
"Yes! We listen to nephew Shouren."
Wang Yaowen and Wang Yaowu, along with five elders of the Yao-generation, struck simultaneously.
A streak of green light swept across Wang Yaowen's hand, and the figures running the fastest were hit by the green light. Their bodies suddenly stiffened, and then, as if sliced by an invisible blade, they broke into several pieces, flesh and blood flying everywhere.
Wang Yaowu didn't have so many fancy tricks. He used a dark red heavy sword. The sword momentum was broad and unconstrained, and with every sword drop, a person fell down screaming.
The numerous Shou-generation Family members watched with burning eyes, wanting to go up and fight, but constrained by Wang Shouren's order, they could only guard the outer perimeter, hoping that someone would escape in their direction.
Wang Shouren beheaded a man with a sword, and just at this moment, a group of people suddenly swarmed out from the stone houses on the inner side of the mountain gate, numbering quite a lot.
Old folks, women, and half-grown children, about seventy or eighty people, all scrambled and crawled out from various houses.
These people wore tattered clothes and had no Qi fluctuations on their bodies.
