33: Chapter 33: A Frenzied Interception - Conversion Value: 5328 points

Unlike cities, the various bases are filled with ability users.

The law has much less restraint on these people, and most here are those who frequently hunt fierce beasts in the wilderness.

Their hands are stained with blood, and they carry a heavy air of hostility.

However, within the base, fighting between ability users is strictly forbidden. Once discovered, they are punished severely without mercy.

This is the bottom line that everyone must obey.

But once outside the base and into the wilderness, it is difficult to keep everyone in line.

In places where supervision is lacking, ambition grows wildly.

Especially since the wilderness contains many treasures, rare plants, fruits containing Source Power, and so on.

The law of the jungle is the underlying code here.

After Senior Duan Tao left, Su Mu bought a Satellite Bracelet and walked toward his resting place step by step.

It was still night, so Su Mu planned to wait until dawn to hunt fierce beasts.

In a corner, Bu Chang, who had just left, was staring at Su Mu with a vicious gaze.

"Good kid, you think you can offend me just because you have Senior Duan Tao backing you? Originally I only wanted a hundred thousand, but now I want your life."

With that, Bu Chang also left, but he headed toward the wilderness.

The free rest rooms provided by the base only had the most basic living facilities.

Su Mu didn't mind; he didn't plan on staying in the wilderness for long, as he had to report as a freshman in a while.

After sleeping for two hours, the sky was already beginning to brighten.

Changing into his blue-black C-rank Combat Suit, it was now time to hunt.

The wilderness outside Qingyuan Base was a small-scale wilderness, where the highest level of fierce beasts was only Tier 5.

This was also the main reason why the Modu Ability University special line led here.

Normal students are Tier 1 ability users when they enter the Ability University.

After three years of university study, they basically all break through to Tier 4 by their junior year.

Senior students have to leave the school for internships or join other factions. Thus, they no longer come to Qingyuan Base to hunt fierce beasts.

The wilderness outside Qingyuan Base can consistently provide pressure for the students of Modu Ability University.

Su Mu was very satisfied with this place. Currently only at Tier 1 High, he mainly hunted Tier 1 and Tier 2 fierce beasts, though he could also handle Tier 3 ones.

This wilderness suited him perfectly; as long as he didn't go deep into the wilderness, he wouldn't encounter Tier 4 beasts.

The plan was set.

Su Mu stepped into the wilderness!

"Kid! Stop right there!"

Su Mu looked in the direction the voice came from.

Bu Chang jumped down from a tree and strutted toward Su Mu.

"I couldn't lay a hand on you inside the base, but now that you're outside, you have nowhere to run.

Kid, I'll give you one last chance. Hand over everything valuable on your person.

Then kowtow three times to me, and I'll let you go."

Looking at the C-rank Combat Suit on Su Mu, Bu Chang guessed that Su Mu must have quite a bit of money.

"And if I'm unwilling?"

Su Mu wasn't afraid in the slightest.

"Then I'll kill you first and take it myself!

I advise you to honestly hand everything over. Don't try to resist as a mere Tier 1 ability user.

I am a Tier 2 Middle ability user, and my ability is the Reinforcement Type. Even if I stand here and let you hit me, you won't be able to leave a scratch."

Ding! Faced with Bu Chang's robbery, you have the following choices:

1. Obediently hand over everything and beg for mercy. Reward: Title 'Wimp'.

2. Directly activate your ability to leave; the opponent can't catch up anyway. Reward: Source Power +1.

3. Faced with a blatant threat, do not tolerate it; kill the opponent. Reward: yunyuan fruit x1.

"It seems there really is no other way!"

Bu Chang thought Su Mu had accepted his fate, but just as he was about to step forward—

Squelch!

A long spear pierced through Bu Chang's chest.

"You..."

Without even giving him a chance to leave any last words, he was killed instantly with a single thrust.

Ding! Obtained yunyuan fruit x1, placed in the System Space.

Su Mu walked forward and glanced at the man's backpack, which only contained some medicinal pills and a few Satellite Bracelets.

He took the pills and ignored the rest.

Speaking of which, Bu Chang was like the God of Longevity hanging himself—tired of living.

Su Mu opened the System Space to check the yunyuan fruit; it was his first time seeing this item.

yunyuan fruit: A natural treasure. Those who have already realized Source Power can significantly increase it. Those who haven't realized Source Power can directly do so.

After a glance, Su Mu didn't pay it much mind.

Its effect wasn't very significant for him, as many rewards from the system's tasks provided permanent increases to Source Power.

He would save this to sell later or give to someone else.

Actually, this yunyuan fruit was quite rare, as there weren't many treasures that could increase Source Power.

Su Mu directly channeled lightning, turning the man's corpse completely to ash.

Destroying the evidence!

'Roar—'

'Awoo—'

The howls of various fierce beasts came from the distance.

Anyone else hearing these sounds would feel terrified, but Su Mu charged straight toward the source.

He directly activated the Dark Thunder Domain, expanding it to its maximum range.

While increasing his speed, he also guarded against any sneak attacks from fierce beasts.

The source of the sounds was an abandoned town, which looked like a human city that had been overrun by a beast tide.

Time to kill!

'Ding! Killed Tier 2 Low fierce beast Shadow Cat, conversion points +20.'

'Ding! Killed Tier 2 High fierce beast Golden-Toothed Tiger, conversion points +30.'

'Ding! Killed Tier 1 High fierce beast Blood Moon Wolf, conversion points +10.'

'...'

Su Mu rampaged through this abandoned town, killing any fierce beast he saw with his spear.

He had previously noticed an area on the map that was mostly populated by Tier 2 beasts and was very densely packed.

It was a perfectly matched hunting ground for Su Mu.

Like an Asura walking through hell, he left only corpses in his wake.

His conversion points grew rapidly, as if riding a rocket.

Su Mu had already set his sights on this abandoned town; he planned to hunt fierce beasts here until school started.

This city was clearly much, much larger than the city from the previous Ability College Entrance Examination.

During these few days at Qingyuan Base, Su Mu spent every day hunting fierce beasts.

At night, he spent half his time sleeping and the other half trying to break through to Tier 2.

Immediately after school started, the Freshman Competition would take place.

Relying on a Tier 1 High level was, after all, a bit risky.

This was Modu Ability University, after all. If there were already Tier 2 ability users among the freshmen with abilities that countered the lightning element...

Then it really was possible to fail miserably.

A full five days passed.

Finally, on the fifth night, Su Mu successfully broke through to become a Tier 2 ability user.

[Name]: Su Mu

[Level]: Tier 2 Initial

[Source Power Cultivation Method]: Final Thunder Art (Entry-level)

[Source Power]: 865

[Divine Soul]: 723

[Ability]: S-rank Thunder-Dark Domain

[Battle Techniques]: Thunder Cloud Spear (Proficient), Rapid Lightning Chidori (Skilled)

[Weapon]: Spear Technique (Skilled)

[conversion points]: 5,328

After successfully breaking through to Tier 2, Su Mu's combat power was significantly enhanced. Although his current level was Tier 2 Initial, his actual combat power could likely compare to Tier 3 Middle or even Tier 3 High fierce beasts.

He had obtained a total of 5,328 conversion points, which meant 53 draws.

Terrifyingly strong!

Over the past few days, Su Mu had deliberately used Rapid Lightning Chidori to clear out large swaths of beasts, and finally, this battle technique had successfully reached the Skilled level.

"Good! Next is my favorite part!"

System! Draw.
