70: Chapter 70 Misunderstanding
After an unknown amount of time, Ye Tian slowly regained consciousness from a state of chaotic darkness.
The first things he felt were sharp pain throughout his body and a sense of extreme weakness.
He struggled to open his eyes; his blurred vision gradually cleared, and a familiar ceiling came into view.
"I'm... still alive!"
A flash of relief crossed his mind, and he immediately tried to move his body, but the movement pulled at his wounds, causing him to let out a muffled groan.
At that moment, a soft, warm hand gently pressed down on his shoulder, and a concerned female voice sounded in his ear: "Brother Ye Tian! You're awake?
Don't move around, your body is covered in injuries!"
Ye Tian turned his head slightly and saw Ye Ruyi sitting by the bed, her face etched with exhaustion.
It seemed she had been keeping watch here the entire time.
"Sister Ruyi?"
Ye Tian spoke up, "How long was I unconscious?"
"You've been unconscious for five days!"
Ye Ruyi hurriedly picked up a bowl of warm water from the nearby table, carefully supported Ye Tian's head, and fed it to him bit by bit. "Everyone was worried sick!
Especially the Clan Chief and the Second Elder; they came to see you every day.
The Clan Chief also came by once, but because of the previous attack by the Black Cloud Stronghold, there were many clan matters to handle, so he was unable to spare a Clone."
The warm water went down his throat, relieving his thirst, and Ye Tian's spirits improved a bit.
Only then did he notice that his body was wrapped in bandages, making him look like a mummy.
He tried to circulate his Cultivation Technique and found that although his Meridians were still somewhat sluggish and his True Qi was far from recovered, his Foundation was not damaged, which allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.
What a Martial Artist feared most was not being injured, but having their Foundation harmed. Once the Foundation was damaged, at best it would affect one's Cultivation, and at worst, one would become a cripple.
"Thank you for looking after me, Sister."
Ye Tian gave Ye Ruyi a grateful look.
He noticed that Ye Ruyi's complexion was much better than before. Although she still looked a bit haggard, that aura of yin-chill had faded significantly, and vitality had returned to her brow. She was indeed a rare beauty, especially those eyes carrying a hint of heroism, which were now filled with tenderness.
Being looked at like this by Ye Tian, Ye Ruyi's face reddened slightly. She lowered her head somewhat unnaturally and said softly, "You are my savior; it's only right that I take care of you."
Just then, Ye Tian tried to sit up a bit more. His arm moved unintentionally and happened to bump into Ye Ruyi's hand as she was tidying the corner of his quilt.
"Ah!"
Ye Ruyi let out a soft cry and instinctively pulled her hand back, two red clouds instantly blooming on her cheeks.
This soft cry sounded exceptionally clear in the room.
Almost simultaneously, *thud!* The door was pushed open violently. Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan and Ye Wenshan, who were guarding outside, thought something had happened and rushed in with anxious faces!
"Ruer! What's wrong?!"
"What happened?"
However, when they saw the situation inside the room clearly, they were instantly stunned.
They saw Ye Tian covered in bandages, leaning halfway against the headboard with an embarrassed look.
And Ye Ruyi was standing by the bed, her cheeks flushed crimson, her eyes darting away, and her hands nervously twisting the hem of her clothes.
This atmosphere... no matter how you looked at it, was a bit subtle.
Grand Elder Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan and Second Elder Ye Wenshan glanced at each other, both seeing a hint of understanding and amusement in the other's eyes.
Ye Wenshan gave a light cough to suppress the smile at the corner of his mouth, stepped forward, and asked with concern, "Ye Tian, how do you feel? Has your injury improved?"
He carefully examined Ye Tian's complexion.
Ye Tian quickly gathered his thoughts and replied respectfully, "Thank you for your concern, Second Elder. This Disciple feels much better, though I'm weak all over and my True Qi hasn't recovered yet."
Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan also walked over. He first looked carefully at his daughter, and seeing she was unharmed, he turned his gaze to Ye Tian. A rare teasing smile appeared on his stern face as he joked, "Hmph, you brat, your life is quite tough, and you're recovering pretty fast!
It seems your hands and feet are quite flexible?"
As he spoke, he intentionally or unintentionally glanced at Ye Ruyi, whose face had turned even redder.
Ye Tian was caught between laughter and tears, knowing these two Elders must have the wrong idea. He quickly explained, "Grand Elder, Second Elder, it's not what you think, just now was just..."
"Eh~" Ye Wenshan interrupted him with a beaming smile, "Young people, we understand, we understand! It's good that you're awake, it's good that you're awake!"
Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan also gave a hmph, but there was no blame in his eyes; instead, they held a sense of gratification.
Ye Tian opened his mouth, but seeing Ye Ruyi looking as if she wanted to find a crack in the floor to crawl into, he knew that the more he tried to explain, the worse it would get, so he helplessly shut his mouth.
He changed the subject and asked, "Two Elders, I wonder how the situation outside has been during these few days I was unconscious? Has the Black Cloud Stronghold invaded again?"
At the mention of serious business, Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan and Ye Wenshan's expressions turned solemn.
Ye Wenshan said, "You just focus on recovering from your injuries.
After Yan She retreated that day, the Black Cloud Stronghold has been quiet.
Presumably, they are wary of the strength you displayed, plus their Chief is still in secluded meditation, so they shouldn't come again in the short term.
Everything is fine with the Family. We have also sent people to take extra care of your mother, so you need not worry."
Hearing this, Ye Tian felt slightly relieved. "That's good."
Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan looked at Ye Tian with a complex gaze, finally unable to resist sighing, "Speaking of which, you brat really... that time you fought Yan She, what method did you eventually use?
A Qi Gathering Realm clashing head-on with a Ningyuan Realm is simply unheard of!"
Ye Tian scratched his bandage-wrapped head and gave a simple smile. "Hehe, Grand Elder, maybe it was just good luck. At that moment, my head got hot and I just rushed in."
"Go, go, go!" Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan laughed and scolded, lightly patting Ye Tian's shoulder with his large hand. "Do you take us for old fools?
Good luck! Fine, fine, since you don't want to say, we won't ask more.
Everyone has their own Opportunity.
You are now a hero of my Ye Family, and even more... well, in short, recover well!
The clan's affairs are being held up by us old fellows!"
"Thank you, Grand Elder, Second Elder!" Ye Tian thanked them sincerely.
"Alright, you've just woken up and need quiet rest. We won't disturb you further."
Ye Wenshan smiled and waved his hand, pulling Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan, who still wanted to say something, toward the door.
Reaching the door, Great Elder Ye Zhengyuan suddenly stopped, looked back at Ye Ruyi who was still standing there with a red face, and instructed, "Ruyi, you stay here and take good care of Ye Tian. If anything happens, send someone to tell us at any time."
Ye Ruyi gave a soft reply, "...Yes, Father."
The two Elders smiled at each other and then left the room contentedly, even thoughtfully closing the door behind them.
In the room, only Ye Tian and Ye Ruyi were left once more, and the atmosphere became quiet for a moment.
Ye Tian looked at Ye Ruyi, who still had flushed cheeks and was looking down in silence. He smiled helplessly and said softly, "Sister Ruyi, just now... sorry for letting the Elders misunderstand."
Ye Ruyi looked up, shot Ye Tian a quick glance, then quickly looked down again, her voice faint. "No... it's nothing. You rest well, I'll go brew some more medicine for you."
After saying that, she walked quickly out of the room as if escaping.
Ye Tian watched her departing back, sensing the faint lingering fragrance in the room, then looked at his own bandages and couldn't help but shake his head with a laugh.
"If they misunderstand, then let them. The priority now is to recover my strength as soon as possible!
The Chief of Black Cloud Stronghold, Ningyuan Realm Third Stage... the time left for me is not much!"
He closed his eyes and began to slowly circulate the Nine Revolutions Purple Heart Art, guiding the weak True Qi to carefully nourish his damaged Meridians and body.
