thorn-like spikes poured down like a rain of arrows. she manoeuvred the whip as if it had a mind of its own, sweeping away the spines effortlessly. meanwhile, landing on the ground, i extracted the bloodsucking tentacle from my unharmed upper left arm.

the tentacle shot out like a spear, embedding itself under her foot. before she could sever it with her whip, i swiftly retracted the tentacle.
