92: Chapter 92 Once I become flesh, I won't like this world anymore.
Gu Changming was suspended in the morning light, his expression unreadable.
Then, he simply reached down toward Zhou Qilin, slowly opening his palm before gently pressing downward.
There was no roar, no strange phenomenon.
An invisible yet majestic and irresistible force suddenly descended upon Zhou Qilin!
"Pfft!"
Zhou Qilin felt as if the entire sky had crashed into him. His vision went black, and his body lost all control. Like a fly swatted by a giant hand, he plummeted straight toward the ground at an incredible speed!
"Bang!!!"
A dull, heavy thud resounded as the earth shook violently.
Debris and dust shot into the sky, forming a massive crater several meters in diameter.
At the bottom of the pit, Zhou Qilin curled up, coughing up mouthfuls of blood, which seemed to contain fragments of his internal organs.
But he wasn't dead.
His intense will to live and the instinctive protection of his Psychokinesis allowed him to narrowly escape death.
After struggling to stand, Zhou Qilin didn't bother checking his miserable state; he immediately scanned the spot where the Giant black cocoon had been.
It was empty.
The Giant black cocoon that had been there was now nowhere to be found.
His heart sank abruptly.
His gaze turned almost instinctively and frantically toward Liu Yang, who had been hiding behind the wreckage in the distance from the very beginning.
Without any hesitation.
Zhou Qilin's body suddenly vaulted from the pit, his speed still fast enough to leave an afterimage. Like an arrow released from a bow, he shot straight toward Liu Yang!
Liu Yang didn't even have time to react. His vision blurred, and his neck was already deathly gripped by a cold, blood-stained hand.
He was then roughly yanked off the ground and hoisted up, held in front of Zhou Qilin like a shield.
With a temporary defense in place, Zhou Qilin beckoned with his hand.
With a "whoosh" sound.
The Telekinetic Shuttle, whose connection had been "broken" by Gu Changming, flew back once more, its tip trembling as it pressed against Liu Yang's temple.
Once everything was done, he finally looked up at Gu Changming in the air and issued a warning in a raspy voice:
"Don't come over, don't get close... or I'll kill him!"
Hearing Zhou Qilin's words, Gu Changming slowly descended from the sky.
Then, he frowned slightly, looking over with an expression of worry and tension.
Immediately after, Gu Changming raised both hands in a standard and harmless gesture of surrender.
"Don't, calm down."
"Don't do anything. Whatever demands you have, just say them. We can talk."
"I can even let you go, just don't hurt this dear friend of mine..." Gu Changming's tone sounded exceptionally sincere.
Liu Yang, whose neck was being gripped, was stunned and looked completely bewildered.
Wait, hadn't they just met yesterday? Since when was their relationship so good?
As for Zhou Qilin, the suspicion on his face was almost overflowing.
This sounded... too strange. It wasn't the content that was strange, but the tone.
Beneath that sincerity, there seemed to be a very subtle, almost mocking playfulness.
Something's wrong!
Just as this thought arose, a powerful, almost instinctive premonition of death pierced his mind!
Without a moment's hesitation or even time to think, Zhou Qilin shoved the hand gripping Liu Yang's neck and used that force to fling himself backward again.
"Bang!!!"
At the very moment his body left the spot, a terrifying muffled explosion erupted on the concrete wreckage he had just been leaning against!
The hard concrete wall shattered instantly, an irregular hole the size of a washbasin appearing out of thin air, with the rebar at the edges twisted and snapped!
Zhou Qilin rolled awkwardly to a stop several meters away. Staring at the hole in shock, he suddenly turned to look at Gu Changming, who was slowly lowering his hand.
Just now... if he hadn't dodged, or even if he had been half a beat slower, that strike would have pierced straight through Liu Yang's body and then pierced him as well...
This guy didn't care about the other person's life at all!
His performance just now was entirely to toy with him.
Zhou Qilin scrambled to get up from the ground, but his body had only risen a few inches.
"Thud!"
An invisible force slammed down, pinning him back into the rubble even more thoroughly!
"Ugh!"
He let out a muffled groan, his cheek pressed against the cold, rough ground. He struggled, but it was futile.
The power was as heavy as a mountain, crushing his chest inward and making his bones groan under the unbearable weight.
Gu Changming approached him unhurriedly, just as he had walked toward the other earlier.
As the distance closed, the pressure exerted on his body noticeably increased.
Zhou Qilin could clearly feel himself being "nailed" into the ground bit by bit. The rubble beneath him cracked and sank under the pressure, with cracks spreading out like a spiderweb.
In a desperate attempt, Zhou Qilin concentrated all his Mental Power and activated the "Mental Control" he had recently exchanged for.
Invisible mental waves, like the sharpest spikes, stabbed toward the opponent.
He didn't pray to hurt the other party; he only hoped they would be dazed for a single moment so he could use that opportunity to escape.
However...
His mental attack, which was infused with all his Mental Power, hit Gu Changming like a stone sinking into the ocean.
It didn't stir even a single ripple.
Gu Changming's footsteps didn't even pause. He continued to walk unhurriedly until he reached Zhou Qilin and stopped.
A shadow loomed over him.
Zhou Qilin looked up with difficulty.
Gu Changming was looking down at him, his face expressionless and very calm.
But on Zhou Qilin's face, there was no longer any of his previous arrogance or fearlessness.
The shadow of death, now close at hand, finally stripped away the last trace of color and composure from his face, leaving only primal, undisguisable fear.
"Don't... don't kill me..."
Zhou Qilin's emotions completely collapsed, turning into pure terror.
Gu Changming's movements also paused for a moment because of these words.
Gu Changming tilted his head slightly, his gaze still fixed on Zhou Qilin's face, as if he were carefully identifying something.
Then, he spoke slowly:
"Those things you said earlier... I thought you'd agree with them yourself."
Zhou Qilin was stunned for a moment, then he understood.
The other was referring to his previous speech about "survival of the fittest."
"I..." His thoughts were currently a complete mess.
Gu Changming gave the hand hanging by his side a light flick, and that pitch-black Tang sword appeared in his hand once more.
The Tang sword pressed against his already scarred neck, and then Gu Changming's voice rang in his ears again.
"So... you only like being the one who eats others."
"When you become the meat, you won't like a world like this anymore."
These words held no sarcasm or much disdain; they were as flat as a statement of fact.
After hearing this, although his body still trembled instinctively, Zhou Qilin's heart calmed down inexplicably.
Oh, so that's the kind of person I am?
When the blade hung over his head and he became the "meat" on the chopping block, his performance was no better than those who had died by his hand.
The black blade filled his vision.
Time seemed to stretch out.
Countless faces flashed through his mind like fragments without warning.
There were the people he had killed since the Assessment began, as well as former friends and classmates, and those ordinary people he had never cared about and only passed by...
And then.
The images abruptly cut off.
His vision rotated and turned upside down; he saw his headless body slowly falling over, and he saw the sky gradually brightening.
He saw endless darkness.
...
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
Gu Changming used the Telekinetic Shuttle to pierce Zhou Qilin's headless corpse several more times in vital areas like the heart and between the eyebrows, ensuring the other had no hidden trump cards for resurrection.
After finishing this, he flipped his wrist, and the black Tang sword silently dissipated.
At the same time.
Not far away, heavy and trembling breaths could be heard.
Liu Yang sat slumped beside a pile of rubble, his expression carrying lingering fear and the excitement of surviving a disaster.
"Did we... survive?"
Gu Changming turned his head to look at him and then spoke softly:
"We?"
