6: Chapter 6 Misty Forest, Wolf Packs Rampage

The milky white mist was like thick milk, completely swallowing Train No. 9527.

The world outside the window vanished, leaving only an endless white, and the occasional withered black branches that reached out from the mist like twisted ghost claws, scraping against the carriage body with a teeth-grinding "squeak" sound.

Inside the driver's cab, the atmosphere was heavy to the extreme.

"Beep, beep, beep—!!!"

On the holographic radar screen in front of Luo Yao, the few sparse red dots suddenly spread like a virus, instantly turning into a large, glaring red alert zone.

"Squad Leader! Something's wrong! Something is really wrong!"

Luo Yao's voice trembled visibly, and her large eyes, which usually sparkled with cunning, were now filled with horror.

"There are too many of them! And they're moving extremely fast! Nearly 20 meters per second! They... they are flanking us!"

"Even a 100-meter sprint champion couldn't run this fast..."

Lin Xiao stared fixedly at the mist ahead, where visibility was less than ten meters. His hand tightened slightly on the control stick, his knuckles turning white. "These beasts, this is a premeditated hunt."

Before he could finish speaking.

"Whoosh—! Whoosh—! Whoosh—!"

More than a dozen cyan crescent-shaped wind blades shot out from the mist without warning, carrying a shrill whistling sound as they tore through the air, slamming fiercely into the left side of the train.

"Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!"

Sparks flew everywhere!

Although the iron plating of the G-class train could barely withstand it, the massive impact caused the entire carriage to shake violently.

Even worse was the window. Even the thickened bulletproof glass, under the precise strike of a wind blade, was instantly covered in spiderweb-like cracks.

"Ah!!!"

Terrified screams from the girls came from the rear carriage.

"Everyone get down! Stay away from the windows!" Lin Xiao roared into the broadcast system.

Immediately after, through shared vision, he finally saw the true face of the attackers.

They were giant wolves over two meters long, covered in cyan-grey coarse hair.

They weren't running on the ground, but using those withered trees, leaping and weaving between the trunks like agile monkeys, covering over ten meters with every jump.

They opened their blood-red maws, their sharp fangs even dripping with bits of raw flesh.

**[Monster Name: Gale Demon Wolf (LV.2 Elite Monster)]**

**[Quantity: 30+]**

**[Abilities: Wind Blade Breath, High-Speed Raid, Pack Hunting.]**

**[Evaluation: If you don't have a heavy machine gun, you'd better pray your train is tough enough.]**

"Damn! It really is a Wind Wolf!"

Lin Xiao cursed. These weren't the stupid zombies that only knew how to walk; these were magical beasts with intelligence, coordination, and even long-range attacks!

"Awoooo—!"

Accompanied by a shrill howl from the alpha wolf, the pack launched an all-out attack.

Over a dozen Wind Wolves leaped from the tree trunks on both sides simultaneously, like cyan cannonballs, smashing fiercely toward the roof and windows of the train.

One massive alpha wolf even aimed directly at the front windshield of the driver's cab!

Its crimson eyes were filled with cruelty and greed, as if it had already seen the fresh human flesh inside.

"Want to eat me? I'll break your teeth!"

A flash of brutality crossed Lin Xiao's eyes.

Escaping now would be a dead end; he had to fight back!

He slammed the dual control sticks and shouted, "Titan Mechanical Arms, move!"

"Hum—! Click-clack!"

On both sides of the train head, the two S-class mechanical arms, which had been in a state of power accumulation, instantly awoke.

The roar of the hydraulic system drowned out even the roars of the Wind Wolves.

Facing the alpha wolf pouncing toward the driver's cab, Lin Xiao didn't dodge at all. He controlled the right mechanical arm like a giant swinging its limb, intercepting it in mid-air with terrifying speed!

"Grab!"

The massive metal mechanical claw precisely clamped onto the alpha wolf's waist and abdomen.

"Awooo?"

The wolf clearly hadn't seen this kind of "black technology," and the cruelty in its eyes instantly turned to shock.

Before it could even struggle, Lin Xiao slammed his hand on the red trigger on the control stick.

"Die!"

"Splatter—!"

There was no sound of bones breaking as one might imagine, because the power of this S-class mechanical arm was too terrifying; it directly crushed the wolf's waist!

Blood and internal organs, mixed with shattered bones, exploded into a mist of blood in the air, like a crushed tomato.

"Damn! That's intense?!"

Even Lin Xiao was startled by the power. This wasn't just a mechanical arm; it was the scythe of death!

But this didn't scare off the wolf pack; instead, the blood of their companion only incited their ferocity even more.

"Bang! Bang!"

Two Wind Wolves jumped onto the roof, their sharp claws scratching against the iron plating, making a teeth-grinding metallic tearing sound.

Several others were frantically slamming into the side windows, not stopping even when they were bloody and bruised.

"Damn it! I can't cover everything!"

The mechanical arms were strong, but there were only two, and they could only cover the front half.

The rear carriage was too long!

"Szz—!"

Lin Xiao turned on the broadcast, his voice urgent but calm: "Su Qingqian! Zhao Xiaotang! Can you hear me? The main force of the wolf pack is attacking the front, but a few have slipped through to the rear! You must guard the back door! That glass is the weakest!"

"No matter what method you use, absolutely do not let them into the carriage! Once they get in, those defenseless girls are done for!"

...

At the rear of the train.

The atmosphere here was even more desperate than in the driver's cab.

Because there were no mechanical arms here, only two girls holding cold weapons, and a group of terrified burdens.

"Bang! Crash!"

A sharp sound broke the final line of defense.

The ventilation window at the rear, which already had cracks, finally couldn't withstand the continuous ramming of a one-eyed Wind Wolf and shattered completely.

Broken glass scattered like raindrops.

A cyan-grey afterimage slipped through the window and landed steadily on the carriage floor.

It was a Wind Wolf missing half an ear; though small in size, its gaze was extremely sinister.

The moment it landed, it didn't attack Su Qingqian, who was closest to it, but pounced directly toward a girl huddled in the corner, shivering—Wang Jia.

Pick the softest persimmon to squeeze; that was the instinct of a beast.

"Ah!!! Help! Don't come over!"

Wang Jia looked at the blood-red maw right in front of her, smelling the nauseating stench, and completely broke down. She screamed and tried to shrink back, but this narrow corner was a dead end.

"Damn it!"

Su Qingqian, who was guarding the window on the other side, saw her expression change drastically.

Too fast! This wolf's speed was incomparably faster than the previous zombies!

At the critical moment.

"That's my classmate! Get away!"

A wild roar sounded.

A robust figure lunged from the side.

It was Zhao Xiaotang!

This sports committee member displayed astonishing physical fitness at this moment. She didn't even have time to raise the shield in her hand (which was actually a piece of iron plating removed and reinforced on the back of a chair), and instead rammed her sturdy shoulder directly into the Wind Wolf.

"Bang!"

Human and wolf collided.

The Wind Wolf was knocked off course, its bite intended for Wang Jia's throat missed, but its sharp claws still left three deep, bone-visible scratches on Wang Jia's arm.

"Ah—!!!"

Wang Jia let out a miserable scream, blood instantly staining her sleeve red.

Zhao Xiaotang was also knocked flying backward by the massive reaction force, falling heavily to the ground, grimacing in pain.

"Damn... this dog thing is really strong..." She felt like her shoulder was about to shatter.

The Wind Wolf was enraged. After landing, it immediately adjusted its posture, gave up on Wang Jia, and turned to pounce on Zhao Xiaotang, who was lying on the ground.

Its sharp fangs were aimed straight at Zhao Xiaotang's fragile neck!

"Xiao Tang!"

Su Qingqian finally arrived.

Her usually cold eyes were now burning with ice-blue flames.

The iron axe in her hand was already covered with a thick layer of solid ice, and the temperature of the surrounding air plummeted.

"Frost—Imprisonment!"

Su Qingqian didn't slash directly at the wolf's head, as it might be dodged.

She slammed the handle of her axe downward, and a visible white cold mist spread rapidly along the floor, precisely entangling the Wind Wolf's hind legs.

"Click, click, click!"

Frost instantly solidified.

The Wind Wolf, which had been about to pounce, suddenly froze in its movement; its hind legs were frozen solid to the floor!

Although this control could only last for a second or two, it was enough for a life-or-death battle.

"Now! Smash it!" Su Qingqian shouted.

Zhao Xiaotang on the ground reacted extremely quickly.

The instinct for survival overcame fear.

She didn't get up, but grabbed the heavy iron shield beside her and, using all her strength—even the strength she would use to suckle—smashed it fiercely against the Wind Wolf's waist, which was frozen and unable to move!

"Die, you bitch!!!"

"Boom!"

A dull, loud noise.

Followed by the bone-chilling sound of bones breaking.

Wolves have copper heads and iron bones, but tofu waists.

This strike directly broke the Wind Wolf's spine!

"Awoooo..."

The Wind Wolf let out a miserable wail, went limp on the ground, blood foaming from its mouth, its limbs twitched a few times, and then it stopped moving.

"Huff... huff..."

Zhao Xiaotang panted heavily, her chest heaving violently. She looked at the dead wolf, then at her own trembling hands, and a sense of exhaustion from surviving a near-death experience washed over her.

"I... I killed it?"

Su Qingqian walked over and pulled Zhao Xiaotang up.

"Well done."

Although the cold school beauty's tone remained indifferent, there was a hint of approval in her eyes. She glanced at Zhao Xiaotang's swollen shoulder. "Can you still move?"

"Hiss... it hurts a bit, but it shouldn't be broken." Zhao Xiaotang gritted her teeth and moved her arm, then revealed a smile that was uglier than crying. "It's just a pity about my new down jacket, it has a hole in it."

Just then, Wang Jia nearby was still crying and wailing while holding her bleeding arm.

The smell of blood permeated the enclosed carriage.

For the wolf pack outside, this smell was a stimulant!

"Awoooo—!!!"

More and denser wolf howls came from outside the window.

Clearly, the smell of blood inside had attracted more wolves to the rear of the train.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The remaining windows at the rear began to vibrate violently, and even the iron carriage door was dented and deformed from the impact.

"Not good! They're going for an all-out attack!" Su Qingqian's face turned pale.

If one wolf coming in had made them this miserable, if three or four came in at once...

That would truly be catastrophic!

"Lin Xiao! The rear can't hold!" Su Qingqian shouted into the walkie-talkie. "There are too many wolves! Wang Jia is injured and bleeding, it's drawn them all over!"

In the driver's cab.

Lin Xiao listened to Su Qingqian's anxious voice on the headset, looking at the dense red dots surrounding the rear on the radar, his brow furrowed into a "chuan" shape.

"Damn... I didn't expect the smell of blood to attract monsters so quickly."

At this point, if he didn't take extreme measures, the rear would inevitably be breached.

By then, it would be a one-sided slaughter.

"Since you are looking for death, don't blame me for going all out."

Lin Xiao took a deep breath, a flash of madness in his eyes.

He looked at the black button on the console that was usually covered by a lid—**[Emergency Collision Mode]**.

This mode would instantly push the power of the coal core to 200%, gaining explosive speed and impact for a very short time, but the cost was consuming a large amount of fuel and putting a huge load on the train body.

But now, he couldn't care about that.

"Everyone hold on to the handrails! We're accelerating!"

Lin Xiao slammed the lid open and pressed the button hard.

"Boom!!!"

The power furnace under the train let out a roar like a giant beast.

The entire train seemed to have been kicked hard, and its speed soared instantly!

It shot from 60km/h directly to 120km/h!

"Mechanical arms! Pinwheel mode!"

Lin Xiao operated the controls frantically.

The mechanical arms on both sides of the train head didn't retract, but began to spin and swing wildly like propellers!

"Thump! Thump! Thump!"

Any Wind Wolf, withered tree, or even a giant rock that dared to block the front of the train was ground to pieces in front of this terrifying steel whirlwind!

Flesh and blood flew everywhere! Wood chips splattered!

The train turned into a steel beast, ramming through the Misty Forest, carving out a bloody path!

The Wind Wolves that were originally clinging to the roof and sides were flung off by this sudden acceleration and vibration.

And at the rear, the Wind Wolves trying to ram the door were left behind to eat dust.

"Awoooo..."

The wolf pack was terrified by this terrifying momentum and could only watch as the prey sped away.

...

Five minutes later.

The train finally rushed out of that damned Misty Forest.

Sunlight shone on the train again, but this once-new G-class train was now covered in scars.

Most of the windows were shattered, the body was covered in scratch marks and dents, and in some places, it had even been cut open by wind blades.

Especially that pair of S-class mechanical arms, although still mighty, were stained dark red with wolf blood, and were still dripping.

Inside the driver's cab, the alarm sounded incessantly.

**[Alarm: Body durability decreased by 15%!]**

**[Alarm: Power furnace overheated, cooling required for 30 minutes!]**

**[Alarm: Excessive fuel consumption, remaining reserves less than 20%!]**

Lin Xiao slumped in the chair, covered in sweat.

The high-intensity operation of the last few minutes, combined with the high mental tension, made him feel exhausted even with the enhancement potion.

"Damn... this isn't survival, this is risking my life."

But a smile curled on the corner of his mouth.

Because amidst the dense alarm sounds, there was a golden notification:

**[Congratulations! Successfully repelled the Level 2 Wind Wolf pack!]**

**[Experience gained: Large amount!]**

**[Drops gained: Wind Wolf Fang (Rare Material) x10, Wind Wolf Hide x5, Level 2 Magic Core x1!]**

**[All participants (Lin Xiao, Su Qingqian, Zhao Xiaotang) receive attribute point rewards!]**

He picked up the walkie-talkie, his voice slightly hoarse but steady as a rock: "Crisis averted. Everyone, rest in place."

"Shen Man, take the first-aid kit to the rear. Wang Jia is injured, no matter what method you use, save her for me."

"Also... tell everyone, we survived."

In the carriage, there was first a dead silence.

Then, cries and cheers of surviving a disaster erupted.

Zhao Xiaotang lay on the floor full of glass shards, not caring about the dirt, and grinned stupidly: "Hahaha, I didn't die! I even killed a wolf! Who said fitness is useless? From now on, anyone who calls me a muscle girl will have to deal with me!"

Su Qingqian leaned against the wall, looking at the chipped axe in her hand, and gently wiped a drop of wolf blood from her cheek.

At that moment, the aura of this cold school beauty had completely changed.

It was no longer that aloof coldness, but a coldness and toughness tempered by blood and fire.

Just like a sword that had been truly sharpened.

She looked toward the front of the train, with a complex emotion in her eyes.

That man, he really did it.

Carrying this group of "burdens" with him, he fought his way out of a desperate situation.
