'Yao Xi, your child,' she said, handing the child back to Yao Xi.

'Thanks,' Yao Xi replied lazily, lying on the bed with a maternal grace, her four-year-old daughter clinging to her and suckling.

Yao Xi placed her younger daughter in her arms and gently patted her older daughter, signaling her to make room for her sister.
