2: Chapter 2 A Twist of Fate
Xu Changsheng was a bit dazed, a bitter smile on his face.
"Am I dead? I'm even having hallucinations..."
He blinked his eyes hard a few times.
"No."
The mud beneath him, the pain in his back.
All of it was truly conveying information to him.
"I'm not dead yet!"
Then he stared blankly at the light screen in front of him, reading it word by word.
"This?"
His pupils suddenly contracted, and his cracked lips trembled.
"This is a Golden Finger!"
In the next instant.
He sat up abruptly from his near-death state, enduring the sharp pain to stand up and carefully read the text before him.
After confirming it once more.
"Haha!"
He began to laugh uncontrollably, his laughter echoing through the spirit fields.
"Hahahaha!"
After a long time, the laughter finally subsided. His eyes were tightly closed, his murmur low and fierce.
"Everything in the past died yesterday. Su, Chen... the humiliation of today will surely be repaid in the future!"
Suddenly.
*Rustle.*
A hunched figure squeezed out from the dense rice stalks behind him.
Xu Changsheng turned back and saw an old man with white hair and a white beard.
The old man looked around, and after confirming that Huang Laifu and the others had not returned, he hurriedly stepped forward to support Xu Changsheng.
"Brother Xu, you should have endured it."
Seeing the lingering madness on the latter's face, he sighed inwardly that the kid had been pushed too hard today, and continued to comfort him.
"That Huang the Skinner has bullied us plenty, skimming off the harvest openly and secretly, and he holds a grudge. You really shouldn't have provoked him."
Xu Changsheng stood up. Hearing this, a surge of stifled pain welled up in his heart.
"Cough, cough."
He spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Brother Wu, are you blind? I didn't provoke Huang Laifu at all. It was that bastard Chen who made him beat me for no reason."
This old man was named Wu Laoxie, a Spirit Farmer next to Xu Changsheng. They had a decent relationship and looked out for each other.
Hearing this.
The old man's voice suddenly dropped, his hand cupped near his mouth.
"Don't say it, don't say it! That Chen Xuan is someone we Loose Cultivators definitely can't afford to offend."
"I have some inside information. They say his cultivation has reached the Late Stage Qi Refining, and he was promoted to the Inner Sect a few days ago, taken in as a disciple by Senior Xiao of the Chixiao Sect."
"In any case, neither Huang Laifu nor Chen Xuan are people you can afford to mess with, Brother Xu. You'd better just stick to farming. As for your Dao Companion, your life is more important. If you have to let her go, then let her go. There are plenty of other fish in the sea, right?"
Hearing this, the fire in Xu Changsheng's chest gradually subsided.
From Wu Laoxie's perspective, he was just a second-layer Qi Refining Loose Cultivator Spirit Farmer, destined to be stepped on by Huang Laifu and Chen Xuan for the rest of his life.
However.
Now that he had awakened the Daily Intelligence System, things had changed.
"Thank you for the guidance, Brother Wu. I'll be careful from now on."
He cupped his fists in gratitude, his expression sincere.
"Alright, take these two Rejuvenation Pills. Though that fellow Huang Laifu hits hard, it's mostly superficial. You'll recover quickly after taking these."
Xu Changsheng felt a warmth in his chest as he took the Medicinal Pills.
He cupped his fists again: "Thank you, Brother Wu. I will never forget this."
Wu Laoxie waved his hand: "It's nothing. We've been friends for years. After I pass away, I'll still need you to look after my daughter a bit."
Hearing this, a graceful figure appeared in Xu Changsheng's mind.
"Alright, I have to go back and tend to the wasteland. I won't chatter with you any longer."
"Take care, Brother Wu."
Xu Changsheng watched Wu Laoxie leave, then swallowed the Rejuvenation Pill without hesitation.
Soon, the bruising on his back began to dissipate, and the pain rapidly subsided.
He turned and returned to his residence.
Standing by the bed, his gaze gradually grew sharp.
He raised his right hand, and a water droplet condensed on his index finger.
Over the past few years, to earn Spirit Stones faster and better for Su Xiaojing, the original owner had spent almost all his free time practicing the Minor Cloud and Rain Technique for tending the spirit fields.
It had even squeezed out much of his Cultivate time.
So now, even though Xu Changsheng had the "One Proof Eternal Proof" constitution, he could only start practicing Spells from scratch.
He planned to first practice the Water Arrow Technique, which, like the Minor Cloud and Rain Technique, was a Water-element Spell.
...
The next day.
"Holy crap!"
An exclamation came from within Xu Changsheng's residence.
Inside the residence.
Xu Changsheng's eyes were slightly bloodshot and he looked a bit tired, but his pupils shone with brilliance as he stared fixedly at the arrow-shaped water arrow on the tip of his right index finger.
"Water Arrow Technique, reached Entry Level in one day!"
The effect of "One Proof Eternal Proof" was immediate.
Xu Changsheng was excited. At this rate, he was confident he could practice the Water Arrow Technique to Minor Achievement or even Major Achievement within three months!
"The Great Dao is within reach!"
Inheriting memories from two lives, Xu Changsheng felt for the first time that immortal cultivation was actually this simple.
He looked out the window, his confidence growing.
He wanted to achieve longevity in this life. After all, having died once, he really didn't want to die again.
It was currently dusk; the flaming sunset glow reflected back, and clouds returned to the peaks of Tianya Mountain.
The intelligence arrived as scheduled.
[Todays Intelligence (Green): Tier 1 Low Grade Talisman]
[On the mountainside of Lingwu Mountain, ten miles east of Liuyun Market, five miles east of the Misty Pine Forest, there is a Black Bear Cave. Inside the cave, there is a Tier 1 Low Grade Talisman Legacy.]
"It's actually a Tier 1 Low Grade Talisman Legacy!"
Xu Changsheng was overjoyed. He had been worrying about how to obtain enough cultivation resources, and now the intelligence was delivered right to him.
As long as he obtained this Legacy, he could become a Tier 1 Low Grade Talisman Master and refine Tier 1 Low Grade Talismans.
A craft Legacy is an object made by a craftsman specifically to pass on techniques to later generations. It contains not only the key points of the cultivation craft but also recordings of the craftsman's own daily practice.
Creating a Legacy can take anywhere from a few months to a hundred years; its value can be imagined.
With this Legacy and his "One Proof Eternal Proof" talent, becoming a Talisman Master was inevitable. Compared to being a Spirit Farmer, a Talisman Master could earn Spirit Stones several or even dozens of times faster!
He immediately headed out.
Walking quickly, he arrived at Lingwu Mountain half an hour later.
Groping his way along the mountain path, he reached the Black Bear Cave described in the intelligence.
He walked straight in.
He immediately saw an old Jade Slip embedded in the stone wall.
"Found it."
Without hesitation, he pressed the Jade Slip against his forehead.
After a moment, the Jade Slip cracked into bamboo-like strips, and the memories of a Tier 1 Low Grade Talisman Master were already in his mind.
Just as he was about to return.
*Thump.*
He suddenly tripped over something.
Turning around to look.
A green key had popped out halfway, who knows when.
Seeing this scene.
Xu Changsheng was first stunned, and then his face showed a look of wild joy.
He was all too familiar with this key.
That pattern, that luster...
It was exactly the secret realm key to the Ancient Wood Secret Realm!
He quickly squatted down and brushed away the dust and mud around the key.
He took it out and held it in his hands.
Xu Changsheng's voice was low and raspy, with a bone-chilling coldness: "Su Xiaojing, you snatched away my Opportunity, but you didn't expect that my Opportunities are endless!"
The Ancient Wood Secret Realm contained a large number of Tier 1 spiritual objects, and some had even found foundation establishment spiritual objects inside; the secret realm key was of immense value.
Not only that.
There were rumors that with good luck, a Hongyun Spirit Spring would appear in the depths of the Secret Realm. It could not only increase the chance of Foundation Establishment by twenty percent but also cleanse the marrow and nourish the meridians, improving Aptitude, which would be a huge boost to Xu Changsheng's Low Grade Spiritual Root.
"The next Ancient Wood Secret Realm... opens in five years. I must go!"
...
After returning to the market, Xu Changsheng did not go back to his residence immediately.
Instead, he went to Wu Laoxie's place.
"Brother Wu, I want to borrow a hundred Spirit Stones from you..."
Hearing this.
Wu Laoxie was taken aback and directly refused in anger:
"You still think the Spirit Stones you gave that lover of yours aren't enough? You almost sold yourself off to turn into Spirit Stones for her, and now you want to ask for my Qingqing's dowry money? I won't agree!"
Xu Changsheng hurriedly shook his head: "No, Brother Wu, how could I still spend money on that bitch? I have other uses for these Spirit Stones."
