4: wedding night

After the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Jiang Lan led the people to a small courtyard.

He stepped forward, unlocked the gate, and was the first to enter.

The courtyard wasn't large; there was only a single path with vegetables planted on both sides.

At the end of the path was a modest tile-roofed house with a bright red lantern hanging in front of the door.

By modern standards, it was probably around sixty to seventy square meters.

The main hall was in the center, with a room on each side, east and west.

"Come in."

Lin Zhaoye and Lin Qixing followed Jiang Lan into the house.

Although the place was small, it was clean and tidy.

"You two sit here for a bit; I'll go boil some water for you."

Grabbing a wooden bucket, Jiang Lan drew several buckets of water from the well in the courtyard, poured them into the large pot in the middle of the main hall, and started a fire to boil the water.

Having lived alone for half a month, he was already experienced.

It was early autumn now, so cold baths were definitely out of the question.

In this era, there were no anti-inflammatory drugs or antibiotics.

If one caught a cold and couldn't recover, dying from illness was not uncommon.

Then, when the water was almost ready, he prepared half a bucket of hot water and took it to the east room.

"You can shower first. My clothes are in the wardrobe. If you need to change the water, see if you can carry it. If not, just call me."

At the same time, he looked up.

Jiang Lan had no idea Lin Zhaoye had so much going on in her mind.

Although a wedding night could earn him System rewards, he knew that such things couldn't be rushed.

No matter what, they had to cultivate some feelings first, right?

While in this world, there was no need to worry about the woman backing out and being thrown in jail for three years...

But if there was no emotional foundation at all... it could only be said that Jiang Lan was still a good person at heart.

Asking Lin Zhaoye and her sister to shower was simply for them to shower.

So, at this moment, Jiang Lan only felt a bit awkward.

"I'm going back to my room first."

After dropping that line, he walked into the west room next door without looking back, then closed the door behind him.

He lay on the wooden bed, lit the candle by the bed with a fire starter, then cleared his mind and began to think about the Demon Suppression Division.

This world was indeed too chaotic.

Not to mention distant matters, just take the Corpse Ghoul that Chen Niqiu mentioned to him today.

According to legend, it was a being neither human nor ghost, somewhat similar to the zombies in his impression.

However, the Corpse Ghouls of this world were far more vicious than zombies.

They were not only incredibly strong but also possessed steel-like bones and muscles. If an ordinary person encountered one, without a miracle, the only outcome would be death.

He still needed to practice Martial Arts... In this chaotic world, even if he didn't seek any great achievements, he at least needed to protect himself... and his wife, right?

Currently, Jiang Lan didn't have children, but with the System, children were only a matter of time.

No matter what, he had to protect his wife and children.

For the current Jiang Lan, learning Martial Arts was not difficult.

The Demon Suppression Division had ready-made Martial Arts Cultivation Techniques.

But the problem was, practicing Martial Arts required innate bone structure.

Although he hadn't tried, Jiang Lan knew that his body's innate bone structure wasn't very good.

If his innate bone structure were good, his panel wouldn't just show a bunch of 'None'.

According to Jiang Lan's understanding, the path of Martial Arts was divided into three grades and nine realms.

The Lower Three Realms were the Clay Body Realm, Jade Marrow, and Dragon Elephant Realm.

Just the Clay Body Realm allowed one to swing a single arm with three thousand catties of force and crack three inches of stone by stomping the ground.

It was rumored that those who achieved Major Achievement in the Dragon Elephant Realm possessed the strength of a Dragon Elephant in every move, lifting ten-thousand-catty cauldrons like children's toys, and could collapse city gates with their Physical Body alone.

As for the Middle Three Realms, Jiang Lan had only heard of them and wasn't clear about the specifics.

However, it should be related to Qi cultivation.

As for the Upper Three Realms, to Jiang Lan, they were basically like mythical stories.

He had read a line in a storybook:

'Waving a hand to move mountains and overturn seas, striding to chase stars and catch the sun.'

Just reading the words was already outrageous.

But Jiang Lan didn't doubt the existence of Upper Three Realms powerhouses.

After all, records of demons often mentioned tens or hundreds of thousands of deaths. If humans didn't have corresponding combat power, Great Jing would have been annihilated long ago. How could it still possess such a vast territory and hundreds of billions of people as it does today?

Practice Martial Arts!

It didn't matter if his talent was ordinary.

As the saying goes, if talent isn't enough, the System will make up for it.

He didn't ask for too good a reward; if it could solve his innate bone structure problem, Jiang Lan would be satisfied.

It's just... should he just say it?

Jiang Lan tossed and turned in bed.

He didn't know how much time had passed; Jiang Lan even felt like he was about to fall asleep.

"Creak—"

Suddenly, a somewhat eerie sound came from the direction of the door.

Jiang Lan's mind was full of demons, and hearing the sound, he immediately sat up in fright, looking warily at the doorway.

By then, it was completely dark outside, but the candlelight by Jiang Lan's bed had not yet extinguished.

Borrowing the faint light of the flame, Jiang Lan saw clearly.

Standing at the door was not some Corpse Ghoul, but a beautiful young woman.

Hmm?
