74: Chapter 74 Gin's Confusion
The night sky over the Tokyo docks was torn apart by intense gunfire; the whistling of bullets, the roar of grenade explosions, and the harsh screech of metal being struck wove together into a desperate symphony of death.
When Jodie arrived with over a dozen FBI Agents, she saw the Public Security Officers and the Black Organization locked in a fierce battle outside the warehouse perimeter.
The Public Security Officers had established a defensive line behind shipping containers, bullets whizzing out from behind cover; meanwhile, members of the Black Organization used flexible tactical maneuvers to weave through the area, tossing grenades every now and then, causing chaos in the Public Security line.
"Agent, which side should we help?"
A young FBI Agent looked at the chaotic battlefield, feeling somewhat at a loss.
"Ignore them!"
Jodie’s eyes were locked firmly on the direction of the warehouse, her voice filled with unquestionable urgency, "We have only one objective—find Shuichi and get him out! Charge in directly!"
Before she even finished speaking, she raised her handgun and pulled the trigger toward the warehouse's side door. The bullet hit the lock precisely, shattering the lock cylinder.
"Follow me!"
Jodie charged out first, moving nimbly between the shipping containers. The FBI Agents immediately followed, opening fire at full force as they pushed toward the warehouse.
Their sudden arrival instantly shattered the balance of the battlefield.
Kazami Yuya was hiding behind a shipping container, directing the counterattack, when he suddenly heard gunfire from the flank and saw several Public Security Officers drop to the ground.
He turned his head sharply to see a group of people in plainclothes rushing over with guns raised, bullets pouring mercilessly toward the Public Security defensive line.
"Is that the FBI?!"
Kazami Yuya was dumbfounded; he had seen photos of the leader, Jodie, and was immediately filled with rage, "Are they crazy? How dare they fire at us!"
The Public Security Officers were already pinned down by the Black Organization, and now, under attack from both sides, their defensive line was instantly on the verge of collapse.
Bullets rained in from three directions, forcing them to huddle behind cover, unable to even lift their heads to return fire.
"Sir! The left flank has fallen!"
"We're running out of ammunition!"
Bad news came one after another, and cold sweat beaded on Kazami Yuya’s forehead.
He didn't understand why the FBI would launch a surprise attack; could it be that they were working with the Black Organization?
On the other side of the warehouse, Gin was leaning against an abandoned truck, his brow furrowed as he listened to the gunfire from the flank.
"Boss, it's the FBI! They're firing at the Public Security Officers!"
Vodka poked his head out to take a look, then pulled back and said, his tone laced with confusion, "Why are they here too?"
Gin’s expression was so dark it seemed like it could drip water.
His original plan had been simple: surround the warehouse, trap the prey, and take out Akai Shuichi. But as soon as they arrived at the warehouse perimeter, they were discovered by Public Security guards. His subordinates reflexively returned fire, resulting in a stalemate. Now, to make matters worse, the FBI had intervened, and the situation had completely spiraled out of control.
"A bunch of idiots!"
Gin cursed under his breath. He could tell that the FBI’s target wasn't them at all, but Akai Shuichi inside the warehouse. Yet, by firing indiscriminately at the Public Security Officers, they were undoubtedly muddying the waters even further.
"Boss, what do we do now?"
Vodka was sweating profusely with anxiety. "If we keep dragging this out, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department will be here!"
Gin took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. Retreat? With enemies on three sides, there was no chance. Fight it out? The Black Organization didn't have many men to spare; dragging it out would only lead to their demise.
"Send a signal to Chianti and Korn."
A ruthless glint flashed in Gin’s eyes, "Tell them to aim for the Public Security right flank and use their sniper rifles to open a gap. Once we cripple the Public Security, we'll have a chance to break through!"
"Yes!" Vodka immediately picked up the radio to relay the order.
On top of the shipping containers on the warehouse roof, Chianti and Korn had already set up their sniper rifles, their cold scopes aimed at the Public Security defensive line.
Upon receiving the order, the two exchanged a glance and pulled their triggers simultaneously.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two muffled gunshots rang out, and the two machine gunners on the Public Security right flank dropped to the ground.
With the suppressing fire gone, the members of the Black Organization immediately seized the opportunity and surged forward like a tidal wave.
"Oh no! The right flank has been breached!"
Kazami Yuya shouted and hurriedly dispatched reinforcements, but it was already too late. The Black Organization members had charged into the defensive line, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the Public Security Officers.
Just then, the urgent sound of sirens approached from afar, growing clearer and clearer.
Shortly after, several armed helicopters roared into the sky above the docks, their massive searchlights cutting through the darkness like swords, illuminating the entire dock area as if it were broad daylight.
"It's the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department! And armed forces!" Vodka’s face went pale, his voice trembling.
Inside the command center, Police Superintendent General Hakuba watched the chaotic battle at the docks via a live feed, his face livid.
Public Security, unidentified militants (the Black Organization), and the suddenly appeared plainclothes personnel (the FBI)... three sides engaged in crossfire; it was complete lawlessness!
"Issue the order!"
Chief of Police Hakuba roared into the radio, "Armed forces, join the battle immediately! Prioritize suppressing that group of Black Organization militants! Also, aside from the Public Security Officers, engage all other unidentified individuals without exception!"
"Yes! Chief!"
The machine guns on the helicopters opened fire first, bullets raining down like a storm toward the Black Organization.
On the ground, armored vehicles crushed gravel as they advanced toward the warehouse, their mounted cannons aimed at the area where the Black Organization was gathered.
"Boom! Boom!"
Shells landed, sending flames shooting into the sky, and a whole group of Black Organization members fell instantly.
Gin watched the artillery fire raining down from above, a flicker of despair flashing in his eyes.
He knew they were completely done for this time.
"Retreat! Retreat quickly!"
Gin roared at his subordinates, "Break out in scattered groups! Save as many as you can!"
The Black Organization members immediately scattered and fled, but under the suppressing fire of the armed forces, there was nowhere to hide.
Chianti and Korn tried to use their sniper rifles to fight back against the helicopters, but they were locked onto by the helicopters' thermal imaging systems. A rocket whistled through the air, blowing the shipping container they were hiding in to smithereens.
"Korn!" Chianti let out a scream before being gunned down by a hail of bullets.
Vodka, along with the remaining survivors, followed Gin into another factory building to make a desperate last stand.
Meanwhile, inside the warehouse, Akai Shuichi was observing the battle outside through a crack in the door.
The Public Security Officers were being caught in a pincer attack by the FBI and the Black Organization, the Black Organization was being surrounded by the armed forces, and the FBI was frantically storming the warehouse... the chaotic situation had, unexpectedly, created a glimmer of hope for him.
He heard Jodie’s voice and the shouts of the FBI Agents, a complex emotion welling up in his heart.
"Shuichi! Are you inside?!"
Jodie had already reached the warehouse entrance and was shouting inside.
Akai Shuichi took a deep breath and opened the warehouse side door.
"Shuichi!" Jodie’s eyes instantly filled with tears when she saw him.
"Let's go, quickly!" Akai Shuichi pulled her along. "The armed forces are here; if we don't leave now, it'll be too late!"
The two turned and ran toward the waterway behind the warehouse, the FBI Agents following closely behind, providing cover as they retreated.
Kazami Yuya watched as Akai Shuichi and the FBI escaped together, trembling with rage. He wanted to order a pursuit, but he was pinned down by the Black Organization's firepower and couldn't break away at all.
The chaotic battle at the docks continued, but the scales of victory were gradually tipping toward the Japanese armed forces and the Public Security Officers.
"Boss, what do we do now? We're surrounded." Vodka, his face covered in blood, asked while hiding next to Gin.
Gin glanced at Vodka with a dark expression, then scanned the remaining members of the organization. At this point, even Gin was completely bewildered; how had things ended up like this?
With no other options, Gin had to take out his phone and dial the Organization Boss’s number.
"Boss, this is Gin,"
"I'm very sorry, we've been..." Gin recounted today's events very quickly.
"So, Boss, we need support, otherwise we might be completely wiped out." After finishing, Gin waited quietly for the Organization Boss’s reply.
After half a minute, the Organization Boss’s hoarse voice finally sounded over the phone.
"Gin, I have already warned you to be careful during this time."
"Boss, I..." Gin wanted to explain, but was interrupted by a cold snort from the Organization Boss.
"Hmph!"
"Forget it. Since it has already happened, I don't want to waste any more time with you. We can discuss these matters after you successfully break out."
"Support will arrive on the battlefield within 10 minutes. Seize the opportunity and prepare to break out." After saying this, the Organization Boss hung up the phone without waiting for Gin’s response.
After hanging up the phone, Gin let out a long sigh of relief and then said to Vodka:
"Tell the men to hold on for a while longer; support will arrive within 10 minutes."
"We are preparing to break out and retreat!"
