Chapter 107: Power of Book of Death(Part-2)The Lich Arktane waited patiently, biding his time. He knew the immense energy required to wield the Book of Death and understood that Apollo could not sustain such power indefinitely.

All Arktane needed to do was maintain a fair distance, avoiding the brunt of Apollo’s attacks, and let his relentless undead summons wear the young warrior down.

From his vantage point, Arktane observed Apollo’s every move. He watched as Apollo unleashed powerful waves of icy death energy, freezing and shattering the undead minions that surged toward him. Yet, for every creature that fell, another two took its place, crawling from the depths of the spell circle Arktane had conjured.

Apollo’s breaths came in ragged gasps, the strain of maintaining his power evident in the sweat that glistened on his brow. His grip on the Ice Star tightened the sword a beacon of cold light amid darkness. He knew he was running out of time and that the Lich was waiting for him to falter.

Arktane, sensing his opportunity, conjured more undead minions. They surged forward, a wave of bone and shadow. Apollo fought valiantly, his sword flashing through the air, but his movements were slower and more laboured. The icy death energy he wielded, while powerful, was draining him rapidly.

"You cannot last forever," Lich Arktane taunted from the shadows, his voice echoing across the darkness. "The Book of Death will be mine. You are but a fleeting obstacle."

Apollo ignored the taunts, focusing on the immediate threats. He cut down the undead with precision, each strike fueled by a mixture of a strong mind and determination. But the tide of darkness seemed unending, and fatigue was setting in.

"Damn! A necromancer is really a pain in the ass when they fight from behind the scenes," he cursed, seeing the never-ending army. "How many of these hellspawns can he summon?"

He had to do something; he could not be passive and was drained by the summons, whose strength was between first-rank limit-breakers and third rank limit-breakers.

Arktane watched with a cruel smile, his skeletal features twisted in anticipation. He could feel the energy within Apollo waning, the flicker of resistance growing dimmer. The Lich began to gather his dark power, preparing for the final strike that would secure his victory.

Apollo, who now seems barely able to stand, felt the overwhelming weight of the situation. His connection to the Book of Death appeared to be slipping, the immense power taking its toll on his body and mind.

"Death Ripple!"

The Lich saw an opening and unleashed his most powerful spell, destroying everything in its path. Even many of his undead summons were caught in the attack, disintegrating instantly.

Apollo, shocked, quickly focused all his energy on the Book of Death, creating a powerful black ice wall to stop the devastating attack.

Boom!

A large explosion erupted, and it seemed Apollo couldn’t fully block the Lich Arktane’s attack. He was sent flying dozens of meters, the force so strong that it knocked him out senseless.

Arktane’s red eyes glowed with fierce light and excitement as he felt the darkness around him receding and the aura of death slowly decreasing.

"Haha! It belongs to me, only me! Haha!" He couldn’t stop laughing menacingly as he quickly approached the unconscious Apollo, who was still gripping the Book of Death.

"Haha, trash thinking they could use my things. Come, my Book of Death...."

As he was about to take the book from Apollo’s hands, Apollo suddenly opened his eyes, surprising the Lich Arktane.

"Surprise Motherf*cker!" Apollo’s voice was cold and resolute, his eyes blazing with a fierce aura. The deadly aura around him intensified, and the Book of Death responded to his will.

Instantly, he burst with a powerful, deadly aura, and the Book of Death exploded with unseen powers.

"Death Domain: Burial of Ten Thousand Scythes!" Apollo’s voice echoed across the city, covered in darkness.

The death aura became many times denser, immediately covering a hundred-meter radius and creating an independent domain that seemed outside of the world with its own laws.

Everything within the domain disappeared—countless undead summons and the land itself vanished. Even the energy of heaven and earth seemed to have disappeared, like a vacuum in space but not entirely empty, instead filled with only death energy, leaving only the two of them.

The death energy was incredibly potent and dangerous; even the body of Lich Arktane, which was supposed to feel nothing, experienced unimaginable pain as it slowly seemed to melt.

The air around them darkened once more, under Apollo’s control. Thousands of spectral scythes materialized, their blades shimmering with a cold, deadly light. They swirled around Apollo and Arktane, creating a vortex of lethal energy.

Arktane’s confidence vanished instantly. He could feel the overwhelming power of Apollo’s attack and the unyielding force of the Book of Death.

Desperation took hold. "No! This cannot be!" he roared, frantically summoning his dark magic to shield himself, but nothing happened; it was as if the strength and dark energy he had gathered over centuries had disappeared. The scythes moved with a will of their own, slicing through his defences with relentless precision.

Every attempt to counterattack was futile. The spectral death scythes tore through Arktane’s dark magic and undead body. His undead lich body, sustained by centuries of dark sorcery, was being unravelled. The pain was unbearable—a torment he had never imagined possible. His mind raced, searching for an escape, but there was none.

Apollo stood at the centre of the maelstrom, his grip on the Book of Death unwavering. He directed the scythes with his will, focusing their fury on Arktane.

"Your reign of terror ends here," Apollo declared, his voice echoing with authority.

Arktane’s screams of defiance and pain echoed within the domain. "I will not be defeated by you, a mere thief!" But his words were lost in the vortex of death energy.

The spectral scythes converged on Arktane, their combined force obliterating his form. The undead body sustaining him was torn apart, and with a final, agonized wail, Arktane disintegrated into nothingness.

Apollo stood victorious, with the Book of Death glowing softly in his hand. He sighed in relief as he finally defeated the fearsome enemy that was going to such lengths to obtain more power.

The human Chimera, at another place within the city, that was still alive despite facing unimaginable injuries from battling two powerful warriors. However, it finally began to slowly disintegrate and turn into dust after its master died.

Apollo’s transformation gradually receded, with his body returning to its normal state. Exhaustion washed over him, but a sense of triumph filled his heart. The Book of Death then quickly seemed to enter his mind and disappear.

The mighty power of death within him had disappeared, leaving him once again a weak warrior whose strength was nowhere near that of the Lich, who could rival powerful saints. Yet today, with the body of a first-rank limit-breaker, he had defeated a menacing enemy that rivalled saints. He couldn’t help but wonder if anyone else could achieve such a feat today.

The domain slowly dissipated, the death energy receding. The battlefield returned to normal, though the scars of the battle were evident. The oppressive darkness lifted, and the air cleared.

Everyone within the city felt relieved as the aura of death and darkness that enveloped the entire city slowly started to disappear, and warriors found themselves able to move again.

Shouts of joy and relief echoed through the streets as people emerged from their hiding places, surveying the damage but grateful to be alive.

Apollo quickly left the place, knowing that the City Lord, Hunter Guild branch president, and many warriors and soldiers would soon arrive. He didn’t want anyone to know that he was the one who defeated the enemy, a feat even the City Lord and Guild President could not achieve, and had received the Book of Death.

But just as he left the place where he battled the Lich, two figures quickly appeared: none other than the City Lord and the Hunter Guild Branch President, drawn by the lingering battle aura in the area.

Both leaders looked around, assessing the aftermath of the intense battle. The City Lord spoke first, his voice echoing with a mix of relief and curiosity: "It seems the threat has been neutralized, but who could have possibly done this?"

The Hunter Guild Branch President, scanning the surroundings with a keen eye, replied, "The energy residue here is unlike anything I’ve seen. It’s powerful and otherworldly. Whoever fought here must possess formidable strength."

The leaders exchanged a knowing glance before the City Lord spoke again, his tone firm. "Whoever it was, they saved the city today. We must find them and offer our thanks."

The Hunter Guild Branch President nodded solemnly, surveying the devastated area. It was clear that even after a hundred years, the land would struggle to regain its vitality due to the lingering death aura. With a sigh, he and the city lord departed from the scene.

Apollo silently appeared on the battlefield, where he found Master Old Man Aragon, Reid, and his grandfather already gathered together, seemingly waiting for him.

"Kid, you’re finally here. We’ve been waiting for you," Master Aragon said warmly.
