184: Chapter 184 On the Bone Beach, a Forbidden Monument Blocks the Way!
Chu Wanqing held the imperial zither horizontally in her arms, narrowing her eyes as she scanned the area ahead.
"I can see it all; no need for you to tell me!"
Su Yuxi's gaze fell deep into the beach, as if she were captivated by something.
Shen Qingyue did not speak.
She looked at White Bone Beach, the Hunyuan dao rhyme within her body vibrating gently, her fingertips beneath her sleeves tensed.
Lin Yi stepped off the bone boat.
The moment his feet touched White Bone Beach, the fine bone sand immediately slid away to the sides.
A crunching sound came from beneath the beach, layer upon layer, continuous and making one's scalp tingle.
"Crack! Crack, crack, crack!"
The next instant.
On White Bone Beach, more ancient corpses pushed themselves up from underground.
The dozen or so ancient corpses in the front row had the most vicious auras, all of them at the Peak Saint King level.
Those in the back rows were no weaker, all possessing Saint Realm cultivation.
This was clearly not a simple case of reanimated corpses, but a military formation guarding the beach, suppressed here by someone!
The Cultivators who had followed the ship and landed in the distance had just touched the ground when the scene erupted into Chaos.
Someone just wanted to take flight when a broken halberd shot out from the bone sand beneath their feet.
"Puff!" With a crisp sound, the broken halberd pierced directly through their lower abdomen.
As blood sprayed, the person's vitality seemed to be sucked dry in one breath.
Their skin withered in the blink of an eye, and before they could even cry out properly, they had collapsed into a desiccated corpse.
On the other side, several Cultivators huddled together and charged to the left, but after rushing only a dozen or so zhang, they were surrounded by three headless ancient corpses.
The broken halberd swept across, bone sand flew wildly, and several figures were smashed into the beach on the spot, never to rise again.
Screams erupted one after another.
Those who had just wanted to follow Lin Yi to hitch a ride were now like headless flies, crashing about wildly in every direction.
The main theme was: they had arrived, and now they were about to be gone!
Wang Hong's expression darkened as he led five Elders to land together, guarding the perimeter of the bone boat.
"Form the formation, guard the ship!"
The pressure of six Peak Saint Kings erupted, forcefully holding the dozen or so ancient corpses lunging toward the bone boat at bay.
Xu Chen's eyelids twitched as he swung the ancient desolate hall forward.
"Bang!"
The chest bone of a headless ancient corpse shattered, and half its body was knocked backward.
Xu Chen shook his numb arm, grimacing.
"This thing is harder than the body-refining stones on the Fourth Peak!"
Lin Yi raised his hand and pressed down, causing the haotian pagoda to soar into the air, its body expanding rapidly as it shed ten thousand zhang of divine light.
The row of headless ancient corpses in the front, just about to step forward, paused instantly as the White Bone Beach beneath their feet sank three feet with a boom.
"Thud!"
It was as if a divine mountain had been pressed directly onto their backs.
The movements of the dozen or so ancient corpses in the front row all slowed down.
In this narrow window of opportunity, Lin Yi had already charged out.
Heavenly Emperor Fist paved the way!
He threw a punch, striking the chest of an ancient corpse, causing a large expanse of bone fragments to explode and black mist to splatter everywhere.
That hundred-zhang corpse body flew backward on the spot, knocking down three or four of its kind behind it.
"Follow me, go through the center!"
Lin Yi tossed out the command without stopping his footsteps, his fist crushing forward all the way.
Su Yuxi's figure flashed as she followed closely behind his side, raising her hand and pressing her fingers together, sending several strands of Dao light flying from her fingertips.
She specifically targeted the dark shadows about to emerge from the bone sand on both sides, shattering the hidden killing intent buried beneath beforehand.
Chu Wanqing plucked the strings with her ten fingers, the zither music exploding and coiling, forcefully blocking the halberd shadows pressing in from the right.
"Xu Chen, don't fall behind!"
Xu Chen, carrying the ancient desolate hall, knocked down an ancient corpse that had pounced close and yelled back at the top of his lungs.
"Sister Wanqing, I'm terrifyingly strong right now!"
Just as the words left his mouth, a broken halberd brushed past the back of his head, scaring him into shrinking his neck on the spot.
"Forget I said that just now."
"This place really knows how to slap one in the face!"
The group followed Lin Yi as they cut straight through the center, with the six Elders holding down both sides on the perimeter.
The entire team was like a sharp blade plunged into White Bone Beach, piercing straight forward.
For others, landing was a plea for survival.
For them, landing was walking out a crushing victory.
The Cultivators fleeing in panic in the distance looked up and their mental states nearly collapsed.
It was the same island.
On their side, the main theme was random death.
On Lin Yi's side, it was as if they had precise navigation, unimpeded all the way, and even clearing monsters along the way.
Someone just wanted to lean over to this side, hoping to hitch a path to survival.
As a result, Lin Yi waved his right hand, and a Chaos fist imprint smashed down from the air, blasting an ancient corpse blocking the way in front into bone fragments all over the ground.
The aftermath of the fist energy swept past, blowing those few Cultivators who wanted to sneak over away as well.
The meaning could not be more obvious.
"Want to hitch a ride? No way!"
In the center of White Bone Beach, the bone sand churned more and more violently, and ancient corpses kept climbing out from beneath the beach.
Su Yuxi suddenly raised her eyes, looking at a patch of beach surface to the front-left that was darker in color.
"Over there, the Qi is not right."
Lin Yi turned his feet and led the group directly to cut across.
Sure enough.
Buried beneath that patch of bone sand was an even older headless ancient corpse, with half a cracked, dark green emblem hanging on its chest.
The emblem had been mostly decayed by time, with only faint patterns remaining on the edges.
Shen Qingyue's footsteps paused; she lowered her eyes to look at that half-emblem, her originally calm breathing slightly disrupted.
She did not cry out, nor did she stop for too long.
She merely leaned down, her palm brushing over the broken chest bone of the ancient corpse, and gently removed the half-shattered emblem, tucking it into her sleeve.
Chu Wanqing noticed her action and said no words of comfort, only moving half a step closer to block a broken halberd that slashed horizontally from the left.
With a "clang", a sound blade swept past, and the broken halberd flew away.
Chu Wanqing tilted her head, her tone crisp.
"Sister Qingyue, keep it for now."
"When we turn this ghost place upside down, we will settle those old scores one by one!"
Shen Qingyue gave a soft hum of agreement.
She recognized that half-emblem; it was an old insignia of the Shen Family branch guards.
This meant that at least a portion of these beach-guarding military formations on White Bone Beach were originally Shen Family members back in the day.
Lin Yi's gaze also turned a few degrees colder, and he threw an even heavier punch.
"Boom!"
Another blocking ancient corpse was blasted apart, its body flying off, and the bone sand behind it finally revealed a stone tablet half-buried in the ground.
The stone tablet was not large, its corners completely dilapidated, but it was still engraved with several lines of ancient characters.
Su Yuxi glanced at it, her brow furrowing slightly.
"It's old script."
Shen Qingyue stepped forward half a step, her palm brushing away the bone sand on the stone tablet, and read it out in a low voice.
"The gate is in the heart of the island."
She read up to this point, her gaze slightly condensing.
"The key is in the blood."
As these eight characters fell, everyone was silent for a moment.
Xu Chen, holding the ancient desolate hall, had his pupils widened.
"I understand 'the gate is in the heart of the island', but what does 'the key is in the blood' mean?"
"It can't be that whoever bleeds more is right, right? This rule is too wild."
Chu Wanqing tutted.
"Xu Chen, shut up."
"With your limited brain circuits, if you keep guessing, you'll easily trap yourself."
Su Yuxi stared at the stone tablet, light flickering in the depths of her eyes.
"It's not just as simple as blood."
Speaking up to this point, she suddenly raised her head and looked toward the end of White Bone Beach.
There, black mist was churning, and the ground was trembling along with it.
Lin Yi had already put away the stone tablet; this thing had significant value, at least it pointed out the path ahead more clearly.
At this very moment, a loud rumbling sound suddenly came from behind White Bone Beach.
It was as if something that had been sleeping for countless years was being pushed out from underground, piece by piece.
Everyone looked up.
They saw that at the end of White Bone Beach, a large expanse of black stone steles was slowly rising.
