63: Chapter 63 Plan B Launch
Three fifteen PM, Company Name, Director's Office.
Liu Yanran's phone vibrated on her desk. She glanced at the caller ID and swiped to answer.
"Director Li."
The voice on the other end was the boss's: "Yanran, my friend has seen the proposals. He approved both sets, and he chose B."
Liu Yanran leaned back in her chair: "Understood."
"He said that although Plan A's traffic-driving approach is mature, it will predictably only have short-term effects. He wants to try Plan B's refined upgrade route," the boss paused, "He said if the results are good, the budget can be increased."
"Good. I will follow up on my end."
"Alright, you keep a close watch on things."
The call ended.
Liu Yanran put down her phone, her gaze falling on the office computer screen.
Without hesitation, she clicked open the Planning Department group chat.
"Li Yong, Shen Bowen, Meng Zhi, come to my office."
Sent.

Three minutes later, there was a light knock on the office door.
"Come in."
The door opened, and the three entered in single file. Li Yong led, Shen Bowen was in the middle, and Meng Zhi followed last.
"The client chose Plan B," Liu Yanran got straight to the point, then swept her eyes over their faces.
Li Yong nodded first: "Understood, Director Liu."
Liu Yanran looked at him: "Packaging upgrade and photography, plus local channels—are you prepared?"
Li Yong stepped forward slightly.
"For the photography part, the one we usually cooperate with will suffice," he spoke at a steady, unhurried pace. "The exterior and interior shots for the old and new stores, and the process shots of the Master Craftsman making pastries—they have shot similar cases, the style matches, and their schedule can be locked in before the holiday."
Liu Yanran didn't interrupt, waiting for him to continue.
"For the packaging design, Meng Zhi and Blog have already sorted out the general direction," Li Yong turned sideways to glance at the two behind him. "The direction for material upgrades is set. We'll produce a few design drafts, and once the samples are confirmed, we can proceed to production."
"What about the local traffic-driving channels?"
"We are already screening them," Li Yong answered crisply. "Dianping's city page, a few local lifestyle public accounts, and Douyin's city feed—we listed seven or eight candidates. We'll compare their historical data performance and pricing afterward, and then contact them directly."
After listening, Liu Yanran's gaze paused on his face for two seconds.
Then she nodded.
"The budget is tight, and time is also tight," her voice was softer than before. "If you have any problems, you can come to me."
Li Yong replied: "Understood, thank you, Director Liu."

"You may go."
The three filed out. The office door gently closed behind them.
In the hallway, Li Yong let out a breath and muttered under his breath, "Geez, that was terrifying..."
Shen Bowen adjusted his glasses and said nothing.
Meng Zhi followed obediently at the end.
...
Three fifty PM, a white Audi drove into the company's underground garage.
Qiao Yichen left the license, official seal, and other items in the car, taking only his phone and car keys.
The elevator went up. 23rd floor.
He didn't stop walking and headed straight for the other end of the hallway.
The door to the Director's Office was slightly ajar.
He knocked twice.
"Come in."
Qiao Yichen pushed the door open. Liu Yanran was sitting behind her desk, replying to emails on her computer.
She looked up at him: "How was it?"
Qiao Yichen didn't answer immediately. He pulled out his phone and tapped a few times quickly with his fingertips.
Sent.
"Wait a moment," he placed his phone screen face down in his palm. "I just sent the corporate account information to Su Qing."
Liu Yanran leaned back against her chair, waiting for him.
A few seconds later, he put away his phone and looked at her.
"It's basically done. The account is opened, and the license and official seal are in hand, kept in the car." He paused, "The income from those two private jobs before will require supplementary declaration and tax payment next week."
Liu Yanran nodded.
"That's good," she said. "Your project, the client chose B."
Qiao Yichen nodded slightly: "As expected."
Liu Yanran didn't pick up on that thread.
"I just called in the people on your team to ask," she said steadily. "The usual cooperating firm for photography, the packaging design direction is set, and local channels are being screened. The overall direction is fine."
Qiao Yichen looked at her: "Good."
He took out the key fob for the white Audi from his pocket and gently placed it on the desk near her hand.
"The car is parked in the usual spot in the garage."
Liu Yanran lowered her eyes to look at the key, but didn't reach out to take it, only saying, "Mm."
Qiao Yichen turned and walked toward the door.
When his hand reached the doorknob, he turned his head.
"I have to work overtime tonight too, you can go back early if you have nothing else to do."
Liu Yanran was still typing on the keyboard, her movements didn't stop when she heard him. "I know."
Qiao Yichen pulled the door open and walked out.
...
Returning to the Planning Department, the three were gone, clearly in the small conference room.
So he picked up his notebook and the files on the desk and walked in.
The conference room door was half open. Li Yong was typing on a budget sheet facing the screen, Shen Bowen was drawing storyboard drafts, and Meng Zhi had her head down, her fingertips tracing over the competitor analysis report.
The three looked up simultaneously when they heard footsteps.
Qiao Yichen didn't knock, walking straight in and placing the notebook he was holding on the table.
"Just came from Director Liu's office," he sat down, glancing at the three. "You all know already, right?"
Li Yong nodded: "Plan B, photography, packaging, and channels are being pushed simultaneously."
Qiao Yichen said, "Mm."
"Everyone will work overtime tonight to push these things forward," he paused. "Next week, most of us will be out in the field, so don't drag anything that can be finalized today until Monday."
The three responded and each lowered their heads to continue.
Qiao Yichen opened his notebook and created a new folder.
For the packaging, he pulled up a few reference images and set the general direction: minimalist, matte finish, only one embossed pattern. The specific design would be handed over to the art department for optimization later; he just needed to make the art department understand 'the feeling required.'
Then he sent the contact information for the cooperating photographers saved on his phone to the group chat.
"This one has shot food products. Ask about their schedule first—do they have time next week?"
Meng Zhi immediately responded: "Okay, I'll contact them right away."
She opened another dialogue box.
"The local channels, Dianping and DY, should I also ask the business contacts first about their rates and slot prices?"
Qiao Yichen nodded: "Mm. Ask all the ones screened this afternoon. I need a spreadsheet for the prices and schedules."
Li Yong looked up from the budget sheet, glanced at Meng Zhi, grinned, and said nothing.
Shen Bowen adjusted his glasses and saved the storyboard draft.
Six ten PM, takeout arrived.
Li Yong went to the door to pick up the food, bringing four set meals and spreading them out on the table. The lids of the plastic containers were lifted, and the heat from the food mixed with the cold light of the conference room.
No one spoke much, everyone ate their meals.
Meng Zhi replied to messages while eating, her thumbs constantly moving.
"Photography schedule is okay, they can reserve people for the whole day on Wednesday."
"DY says they'll give a quote tomorrow morning at the earliest. Still waiting on Dianping."
Qiao Yichen swallowed his rice: "I'll follow up with you on that tomorrow morning."
The sky outside grew darker.
But the sound of keyboards in the conference room did not stop.
By nine PM, Qiao Yichen glanced at the progress list on the screen: Packaging direction set, photography schedule confirmed, waiting for replies on channel inquiries.
"That's all for today," he closed his laptop. "Meng Zhi, you take the lead in following up with photography and channels for fieldwork next week. Blog, finish the script and review it on Monday. Li Yong—"
"I'll send the budget sheet to your email tonight," Li Yong interjected quickly. Then he said with a pained expression, "I know, I know."
Qiao Yichen ignored him and stood up.
He paused when he reached the door.
"Everyone worked hard tonight, you can clock out now."
