126: Chapter 126 A Beast Tide Upon Entering
A gloomy sky, and beneath it, the earth, mountains, and lakes were all tinged with a dark red hue.
Su Lin's team appeared atop a dark red hilltop.
As soon as they were teleported over, the group immediately scanned their surroundings.
"So this is the Mount Chi Secret Realm. It really is eerie."
Xie Bo said as he looked at the dark red soil beneath his feet.
"Where exactly are we in the secret realm?"
Peng Yang looked around, trying to determine their current location.
"We should be on the outermost perimeter; there should be fewer fierce beasts here."
While the others were chatting, Su Lin sipped his milk tea and looked at the sky, his brow twitching.
"Eh? What's going on? Is it an earthquake, or is my ear ringing?"
Xie Bo looked around in confusion. Although there were no obvious changes nearby, he felt a strange vibration.
"Watch the bottom of the hill."
Su Lin warned the four of them. They immediately looked down the hill, and their scalps instantly went numb.
They saw countless big-headed monsters marching toward their position with heavy footsteps.
Perhaps because they had spotted the group, the big-headed monsters quickened their pace, sending dust flying into the air.
Visually, there were at least several hundred big-headed monsters charging straight up from the base of the hill surrounding them.
"A beast tide! What kind of f*cking luck is this? A beast tide right as we arrive!"
"Didn't they say there were fewer fierce beasts on the perimeter?! Why is there a beast tide the moment we get here?!"
Xie Bo cursed loudly. He didn't know what kind of rotten luck they were having today—for a beast tide to exist on the perimeter and for them to happen upon it.
"Holy crap! Are these big-headed monsters visiting their ancestors on the mountain in a group today? Why are there so many!"
"These are Green-faced Big-head Monsters! They aren't weak at all, and they're extremely brutal. I heard they hammer people into pulp before eating them..."
The fierce beasts below were each at least four or five meters tall, with massive heads occupying most of their bodies. Their green faces were hideous, and black blood trickled from their eyes.
Blood stained their hands and mouths, making for a terrifying sight.
An unprecedented sense of life-and-death crisis immediately gripped the four of them. Their hair stood on end and their scalps tingled as they watched the Green-faced Big-head Monsters charging toward them.
"Let's run! There's no way we can resist these big-headed monsters! Every single one of them is at the second or third level of the Divine Aperture realm. We could handle ten, but there are hundreds of them!"
"Run? How can we run? The location of this hilltop is bizarre; monsters are charging up from all sides. Unless we jump off the cliff!"
"Jump off the cliff? What if we get injured? If we're hurt and can't run, and these big-heads catch up, we'll be even more dead!"
The four were as anxious as ants on a hot pan. Tang Xiaowan even began to sob in despair. They had long since lost the high spirits they had in the hall earlier.
Only then did the four notice their captain, Su Lin. They still had a captain!
But when they saw Su Lin, their hearts sank. Looking at the big-headed monsters swarming up from below, Su Lin was actually expressionless and unmoved, still sipping his milk tea.
Su Lin hadn't even released his Battle Intent. An ominous premonition immediately rose in their hearts.
"Captain, don't stop thinking! Release your thirty strands of Battle Intent. Maybe if we give it our all, we can find a slim chance of survival?"
"Yeah, Captain, I think we still have a chance to be saved. Come on, let's fight together! Your Battle Intent is so strong; it'll give us a huge boost!"
The four tried to encourage Su Lin, but to their surprise, he turned around and smiled at them.
"To reduce the casualty rate, you don't need to take action."
Hearing Su Lin's words, the four looked confused.
"Captain, are you kidding? If we don't act, are we supposed to just stand here and wait to die?"
"Captain, look at the situation..."
"..."
While the four were speaking, Su Lin suddenly leaped into the air. A Lightning Greatsword emerged from the void and flew beneath his feet.
In less than a second, Su Lin was flying high into the sky, standing atop the Lightning Greatsword.
Seeing this sudden development, the four had a whirlwind of thoughts and mixed emotions.
"Holy crap! The captain can fly?!"
"Huh?! He flew away by himself? Why didn't he take us with him?!"
Everyone was shocked to find that Su Lin seemed to be only concerned with his own flight, completely forgetting their existence!
"Hey! Captain, you're not taking us? What the hell! Our casualty rate is still one hundred percent!"
The four felt like cursing. Why was what Su Lin said so different from what he did? He said he wanted to reduce the death rate, so why did he fly off alone?!
However, time was critical, and they didn't even have time to curse. Amidst the violent shaking of the ground, hundreds of Green-faced Big-head Monsters charged toward them, emitting hair-raising screeches.
"No more time! Let's give it everything!"
"I refuse to believe we're really going to die here today!"
The four erupted with their full blood qi simultaneously, but their hands holding their weapons still trembled uncontrollably. Against a beast tide of this level, even if there were several more of them, they would still be dead meat.
Their eyes were bloodshot as they watched the countless Green-faced Big-head Monsters about to submerge them like a tide.
A golden longsword fell from the sky, shooting toward the space above them.
Everyone's heart skipped a beat as they looked at the incoming longsword, somewhat unable to believe it.
Su Lin had acted, but why was the sword aimed at them?
"Holy crap! Is Su Lin blind? He missed and shot it right at our heads!"
Xie Bo couldn't help but curse.
"Unbelievable Su Lin! Does he think we aren't dying fast enough?!"
The group looked at the Green-faced Big-head Monsters already before them with mouths agape, and then at the golden longsword shooting down from above.
Feeling they had been screwed over, they simply gave up resisting. Forget it; the four closed their eyes.
Su Lin's outrageous actions—they hoped the academy would investigate thoroughly after their deaths and give them some justice.
Just as the four thought they were about to die right there...
The golden longsword above them emitted the cry of a phoenix.
Boom!
A violent roar sounded. The four immediately opened their eyes, which were wide with disbelief.
They saw a massive, towering Golden Great Wall, hundreds of meters high, enveloping them within.
Countless Green-faced Big-head Monsters crashed straight into the Golden Great Wall and were flung back hundreds of meters, while the Golden Great Wall remained motionless and steady as a mountain.
"This is...!!"
The four gasped sharply and immediately looked up at the sky. Su Lin was standing on a Lightning Greatsword; he had never left.
"Great Wall of Sword Qi."
Su Lin looked at the golden wall below and nodded in satisfaction.
It seemed his sword techniques hadn't regressed, and using this Rank 4 Spirit Weapon, phoenix feather, the technique was even a few points stronger.
