50: Chapter 50 Since they want to die, then the Sun family has no reason to exist!
Seven in the morning, the courtyard house.
Liu Yuyan pushed open the courtyard gate.
Her silvery-white armor had already retracted into the Kindling, and she had changed back into a dark gray trench coat, her low ponytail swaying slightly in the morning breeze.
She had traveled all night without closing her eyes.
Her steps were steady as she crossed the front courtyard and the central courtyard, arriving before that old wooden door in the innermost room.
Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open.
Pale golden light spilled out from the gap in the door, illuminating her face.
She walked through the stone corridor and stepped onto the altar.
Su Chen was leaning against the ancient tree, wearing a mask, with that tattered notebook placed by his side.
He looked up and saw her; the corners of his mouth behind the mask curved slightly.
"You've returned."
"Yes, mission accomplished."
Liu Yuyan stood still three steps in front of him, her back straight, her right fist covering her left palm, crossed over her chest.
A Paladin salute.
Su Chen looked at her for two seconds.
"I know everything about the incident in Qin Province."
His voice was calm.
"You did well."
Three words.
Liu Yuyan's knuckles tightened abruptly, her fingernails almost digging into her palms.
After eleven years of ups and downs in the business world, signing multi-billion dollar merger deals had never given her this feeling.
Today, these three words carried more weight than the entire board of directors.
Her eyes instantly burned intensely.
She bit her inner lip, preventing her emotions from spiraling out of control; when her voice emerged, it carried only the slightest trace of trembling.
"Thank you, Chairman."
"It's not a thank you; it's what you deserve."
Su Chen stood up.
"Your first real battle, facing an E-Rank Anomaly, you protected ten survivors with zero casualties."
He paused for a moment.
"That final sword strike was clean and decisive."
Liu Yuyan lowered her head.
It wasn't a bow; it was because she couldn't hold it back anymore.
She bit her lip hard, suppressing that surge of emotion.
Three seconds later, she looked up; although her eyes were red, her voice had already returned to a steady tone.
"It was my duty."
She took out a dark purple crystal from the inner pocket of her trench coat and presented it with both hands.
"This is the E-Rank crystal dropped after killing the Silence-Eroding Spirit."
Su Chen took it; it felt slightly cool to the touch.
He put the crystal away.
"Help me investigate someone."
Liu Yuyan looked up.
"Who?"
"Henry Bernstein."
She was not unfamiliar with this name.
A Nobel laureate and her grandfather's former attending physician.
She had thought this person had long since exited the game.
Su Chen's voice was devoid of ripples.
"Confirm his specific location and status."
Liu Yuyan did not ask for the reason.
Her mind was already racing.
The Chairman had personally named him, asking her to investigate.
The last person to be named was Lin Xiaoman, who was now a probationary member of Kindling.
Could this Nobel laureate be the next one?
Liu Yuyan took out her phone, dialed a number, and the conversation was extremely brief.
"Uncle Qin, Henry Bernstein. Find his current location. Five minutes."
She hung up.
Su Chen leaned back against the ancient tree, waiting quietly.
Three minutes and forty seconds later, the phone rang back.
Liu Yuyan answered; her expression remained unchanged, though her brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
She asked a few more questions, her tone growing colder and colder.
Hanging up the phone, she turned to Su Chen.
"Found him. In the southern part of Jingzhou, at the Sun Family manor."
"He is being detained by the Sun Family."
Her voice was steady, but she enunciated the word "detained" with great emphasis.
"Sun Bonian, Sun Medical Group. Through his connections, he learned that my grandfather had recovered and wanted to extract the technology from Professor Henry. The professor said he didn't know, but the Sun Family didn't believe him, so they have kept him under house arrest until now."
Su Chen listened and nodded.
"Find a way to rescue him."
Just as Liu Yuyan was about to agree, Su Chen added another sentence.
"Do not reveal any information about the organization. Use the power of the mundane world, the power of capital."
He glanced at her.
"I assume you are very familiar with these."
The corners of Liu Yuyan's mouth moved imperceptibly.
In those eyes behind the mask, she read a kind of trust.
It wasn't "I believe you can do it," but rather "This trivial matter isn't worth my concern; handle it yourself."
The latter was worth more than a thousand pieces of gold.
"Yes."
She lowered her eyes, her tone instantly switching back to that of a business queen—cold, hard, and decisive.
"Mundane affairs should no longer disturb you."
"Since Professor Henry may become the next member of Kindling..."
She raised her gaze again, a trace of murderous intent flashing in her dark pupils.
"Then the Sun Family,"
Her voice dropped half an octave.
"has no need to continue existing."
Su Chen watched Liu Yuyan, merely tilting his head slightly and leaning back against the ancient tree.
The subtext was crystal clear.
As you wish.
Liu Yuyan turned and walked down the stone steps.
Pushing open the old wooden door and walking out of the courtyard, the morning light was thin and held no warmth as it shone upon her.
She stood on the dirt road outside the courtyard gate and took out her phone.
She dialed a call.
"Uncle Qin, prepare yourself. I need the compliance audit reports for all of Sun Medical Group's overseas acquisitions over the past three years, as well as their drug pricing data chain in Africa."
"Within twenty-four hours."
She hung up and dialed the second one.
"President Zhang, it's Liu Yuyan. I need your help with something..."
The morning breeze blew by, and her long hair lifted from her shoulders before falling back down.
She was weaving a salvation epic that spanned a thousand years for humanity.
And she was responsible for clearing away the trash outside of that epic.
Each to their own duty.
Liu Yuyan turned and walked toward the black Audi parked at the end of the road, starting the engine.
Sun Bonian.
You have placed a Nobel laureate under house arrest, attempting to covet power that does not belong to you.
You don't even know what you have offended.
It is not the Liu Family.
It is Kindling that you have provoked.
...
Southern Jingzhou, Sun Family manor.
Third-floor guest room.
Sun Bonian sat on the sofa, swirling the red wine in his glass, watching Henry by the window.
"Professor, my patience is limited."
Henry did not turn around.
"I will say this one last time: Liu Hongde's recovery is a miracle. It is not a commodity that you businessmen can sell for profit."
Sun Bonian laughed, his laughter filled with disdain.
"A miracle? Professor, you are a man of science, yet you talk to me about miracles?"
He slammed the wine glass down on the coffee table.
"If there really is a miracle, Sun Medical Group can put it into a capsule, label it with a price, and sell it!"
He stood up and buttoned his suit jacket.
"I will give you three more days. Three days from now, if you still maintain this attitude, I will let the whole world know that a Nobel laureate is conducting illegal drug experiments in China. Your reputation will be completely ruined."
Henry turned around; there was no anger in his blue-gray eyes, only pity.
"Mr. Sun, you have no idea what you are trying to touch."
Sun Bonian snorted coldly and turned to walk toward the door.
Just as his hand touched the doorknob, the phone in his pocket vibrated frantically.
It was the group's highest-level crisis hotline.
Sun Bonian frowned and answered the phone.
"President Sun! Something's happened!"
On the other end of the line, the CFO's voice was strained and filled with panic.
"Speak."
"The EU Antitrust Bureau raided our Frankfurt branch! They took the core servers! All of our internal pricing emails have been leaked to the media!"
Sun Bonian's breath hitched.
"And there's more! The health ministries of several Southeast Asian countries have simultaneously suspended our drug market access! Several Wall Street funds are frantically short-selling! Our pre-market stock price has already crashed by forty percent! We can't stop it!"
The phone slipped from Sun Bonian's hand and crashed onto the carpet.
He froze in place, his mind going blank.
A two-hundred-billion-dollar medical empire had, in just ten minutes, been triggered by someone from every corner of the globe simultaneously pressing the detonation button.
Precise, fatal, and without any warning.
This was not business competition.
This was a massacre.
