129: Starshine Shelter and the "Disconnected" Blueprint
Inside the hemispherical cave, starlight flowed like water, quiet and serene.
The six survivors stood before this dilapidated ancient altar, feeling a purity and tranquility that was completely different from the 'cradle' world, and for a moment, they were all slightly dazed.
'Here... I cannot feel the 'spirit net'.' Senior Brother Zhang took a deep breath, a long-lost, pure sense of relaxation appearing on his face. 'Even the Spiritual Qi seems... more 'primitive'.'
Zhao Iron Pillar plopped onto the ground, grimacing as he treated the bone-deep wound on his back, and said in a muffled voice: 'Who cares! As long as we can breathe! Damn it, we almost turned into the debris inside those mirrors earlier!'
Ying and the other two 'Purifiers' appeared even more excited.
They carefully examined the ancient runes on the altar, their eyes shining with the light of hope.
'That's right, this rune structure, this energy fluctuation... it perfectly matches the characteristics of the 'Astral Shelter' recorded in the organization's secret texts!' An older 'Purifier' said with a trembling voice, 'Legend has it that this was a Shelter created by ancient Star Mages to resist the great catastrophe of heaven and earth, relying on Star Core Power to exist independently of the world's rules! I never expected... to see it with my own eyes in this lifetime!'
Wen Youyi stroked the cold surface of the altar, feeling the faint resonance emanating from it—a resonance of the same origin as the star core fragment (and that complete Star Core) in his arms—and his heart surged with waves.
This place was a natural, not-yet-completely-collapsed prototype of a 'world bubble'!
Although dilapidated and limited in scope to just this cave, it proved the feasibility of 'going offline'!
'This altar is the core that maintains this Shelter.' Ying pointed to an obvious indentation in the center of the altar, the shape of which exactly matched the complete star core crystal in Wen Youyi's hand. 'But it is severely damaged and its energy is almost exhausted, which is why the range of the Shelter is so small and extremely unstable. If we can repair it, or... modify it based on it...'
She didn't finish her sentence, but everyone understood what she meant.
To repair and expand this Shelter, transforming it into a 'safe zone' where they could truly survive and develop in the long term!
This was the 'offline' base they had been dreaming of!
'Do it! We must do it!' Zhao Iron Pillar became energized the moment he heard this, forgetting the pain of his wound, and stood up abruptly. 'With this place, do we still need to hide and run? Let's bring all the brothers here!'
Although Wen Youyi was equally excited, he was calmer: 'The idea is good, but the difficulty is immense. First, we don't understand the complete structure and principles of this altar; repairing it rashly might cause it to collapse completely. Second, where will the energy come from? Even if we put our star core in, how long can it sustain? How much can it expand the range?'
The questions he raised were very realistic. This Shelter was like an ancient starship that had run aground; they had found it, but they lacked the manual and fuel to start and pilot it.
Senior Brother Zhang pushed up his glasses and was already squatting by the altar, starting to study those runes: 'The structure of these runes... is so exquisite! It has similarities to the 'source code' we studied before, but it's more ancient and complex! I need time...'
Ying also nodded: 'The records about Star Mages and Shelters in our 'Purifiers' Legacy are sparse, but we can try to combine our known knowledge of the 'cradle' System vulnerabilities to reverse-engineer its operating mechanism.'
Looking at the eyes of everyone, which were reignited with fighting spirit, Wen Youyi knew that the spark of hope had already taken root here. After pondering for a moment, he made a decision:
'Good! Then we will make this our new base! There are three primary tasks at hand!'
'First, survival and exploration. Confirm that this cave is absolutely safe, and search for water sources and potential food sources (although a Cultivator can practice inedia, long-term lack of spiritual item supplementation is not sustainable). Zhao Iron Pillar and a 'Purifier' Fellow Daoist will be responsible for this.'
'Second, research and decoding. Devote full effort to studying this altar, try to understand its principles, and evaluate the possibilities of repair and expansion. Senior Brother Zhang, Miss Ying, and the other 'Purifier' Fellow Daoist will lead, and I will assist.'
'Third, communication and waiting. Use the characteristic that this place might block detection to try sending a specific security signal using low-power 'Star Language' to the outside, informing surviving companions that we may have found a land of hope, but without revealing the specific location for now, telling them to maintain silence and wait for further instructions. I will be responsible for this.'
With duties clearly assigned, everyone immediately took action.
Zhao Iron Pillar and the older 'Purifier' began to carefully explore every corner of the cave.
Soon, they discovered a tiny crevice at the edge of the cave, from which extremely weak yet pure water droplets seeped out, barely solving the drinking water problem.
As for food, they could only rely on their own reserves and inedia for the time being.
Senior Brother Zhang, Ying, and the other 'Purifier' devoted themselves entirely to the research of the altar.
They made rubbings of the runes, analyzed the remnants of energy flow, and combined their respective knowledge Systems, attempting to piece together the 'blueprint' of this ancient device.
Wen Youyi walked to the edge of the cave, turning his back to the phantom of the deep starry sky, and carefully mobilized a trace of Star Core Power, weaving it into an extremely weak 'Star Language' message with a specific identification code, sending it out towards the chaotic ruins of rules outside the cave.
[The spark remains, temporarily sheltered. Await good news, maintain hope.]
He dared not send too much, nor did he dare to send frequently, fearing that the weak fluctuations would attract unnecessary attention.
After doing all this, he returned to the altar and joined the research team.
His unique 'programmer' thinking and deep understanding of 'source code' played an important role at this moment.
Many rune combinations that Senior Brother Zhang and Ying found difficult to understand appeared to him as some kind of ancient 'programming language,' containing specific logic and functions.
Time passed quietly in focused research.
In this corner, which seemed to have been forgotten by the world, six scarred rebels, surrounding a dilapidated altar that carried ancient hope, began to draw their own true 'offline' blueprint.
The glimmer of hope was quietly lit in this Starlight Sanctuary.
