Chain attack
The car quickly drove out of the police station parking lot.
Li Wei gripped the steering wheel.
His peripheral vision scanned the rearview mirror.
Yang Weiwei leaned against the back seat.
Her face was still a bit pale.
On her fair arm, the bloodstain was particularly conspicuous.
Although the bleeding had stopped.
The skin around the wound was red.
Li Wei frowned.
"Weiwei, does your arm still hurt?"
Yang Weiwei shook her head.
"It doesn't hurt anymore."
Her voice was very soft.
Yang Yun turned around.
"Do you want to go to the hospital to get it checked?"
She paused.
"It'll be troublesome if it gets infected."
Yang Weiwei quickly waved her hand.
"No, no need."
She bit her lip.
"I hate going to the hospital the most."
Yang Yun frowned.
"What are you afraid of?"
Yang Weiwei lowered her head.
"Afraid... of injections."
She paused.
"And going to the hospital definitely means getting a tetanus shot, and that needle is especially thick..."
Yang Yun was helpless.
"You silly girl."
She paused.
"How old are you, still afraid of injections."
Yang Weiwei pouted.
"I just am afraid."
Li Wei looked at her through the rearview mirror.
"How about I treat it for you when we get home."
Yang Weiwei looked up.
"Brother-in-law, you know how?"
Li Wei nodded.
"A little."
Yang Yun also turned her head.
"You also know how to treat wounds?"
Li Wei smiled.
"Isn't it just disinfecting and applying some medicine?"
Yang Yun thought about it.
"That's true."
She paused.
"Then you can treat her when we get back, to save this girl from crying at the hospital."
Yang Weiwei's face turned red.
"Sister, I won't cry."
Yang Yun smiled.
"Really?"
She paused.
"When you were little and got vaccinated, the whole clinic heard you cry."
Yang Weiwei blushed even more.
"That was when I was little!"
As the two talked.
The atmosphere eased a bit.
But Li Wei could feel it.
Yang Weiwei was still a little distracted.
Her eyes were looking out the window.
But clearly out of focus.
Li Wei knew.
Today's events had a big impact on her.
A young girl who hadn't seen much of the world.
Facing the dark side of society for the first time.
Definitely needed time to process.
The car drove for half an hour.
And arrived at Seaview No. 1.
Li Wei parked the car in front of Building A08.
He turned off the engine.
The three got out of the car.
And walked into the villa.
Yang Yun walked directly upstairs.
"I'm going to find the first aid kit."
Li Wei pulled Yang Weiwei to sit on the sofa.
"Don't move around."
Yang Weiwei sat obediently.
Li Wei looked at the wound on her arm.
The wound wasn't deep.
But it was a bit long.
It extended seven or eight centimeters down from her elbow.
The surrounding skin was a bit red and swollen.
Li Wei frowned.
"How did you get it?"
Yang Weiwei bit her lip.
"When I was pushed down..."
She paused.
"There was broken glass on the ground."
Li Wei's eyes turned cold.
Yang Weiwei quickly said.
"But it really doesn't hurt anymore."
She paused.
"Brother-in-law, don't be angry."
Li Wei took a deep breath.
"I'm not angry."
Yang Weiwei looked at him.
"But your face is so scary."
Li Wei was stunned for a moment.
Then he smiled.
"Is it?"
He reached out and stroked her head.
"Then I'll smile."
After speaking, he flashed her a big, toothy grin.
Yang Weiwei burst into laughter through her tears.
"Brother-in-law, you're so silly."
At this moment.
Yang Yun walked over with the first aid kit.
"Found it."
She placed the first aid kit on the coffee table.
And opened it.
Inside were povidone-iodine, cotton swabs, gauze, and band-aids.
And some common medicines.
Li Wei picked up the povidone-iodine and cotton swabs.
"I'll disinfect it for you first."
Yang Weiwei nodded.
Li Wei dipped a cotton swab in povidone-iodine.
And gently wiped it on the wound.
Yang Weiwei's body stiffened slightly.
"Does it hurt?"
Li Wei stopped.
Yang Weiwei shook her head.
"It doesn't hurt, it's just a bit cold."
Li Wei continued.
His movements were very gentle.
And very careful.
Applying medicine while blowing on it.
Yang Yun watched from the side.
Her heart felt warm.
This man.
Was truly attentive.
After disinfecting.
Li Wei picked up the gauze.
"I'll bandage it for you."
Yang Weiwei hummed in acknowledgment.
Li Wei wrapped the gauze around her arm.
And tied a bow.
"There, perfect."
Yang Weiwei smiled, looking at the bow-tied gauze on her arm.
"Thank you, brother-in-law."
Li Wei smiled.
"Why be so polite with me?"
Yang Yun said from the side.
"Alright, Weiwei, go upstairs and change your clothes."
She paused.
"Your jacket is torn, you're exposed, some men are getting a free show."
Yang Weiwei quickly looked down at her clothes.
There was indeed a tear in the rib area of her light blue denim jacket.
Revealing the fair skin underneath.
Her white T-shirt also had some dirt on it.
Her face flushed, she glanced at Li Wei, then quickly stood up.
"Then... I'm going up."
With that, she walked upstairs.
Only Li Wei and Yang Yun were left in the living room.
Yang Yun sat on the sofa.
Leaning on Li Wei's shoulder.
"Li Wei."
Li Wei hummed in response.
Yang Yun paused.
"Today's matter..."
She didn't continue.
Li Wei knew what she wanted to say.
"Don't overthink it."
He hugged her.
"This matter won't just be left alone."
Yang Yun looked up.
"What do you plan to do?"
Li Wei's eyes turned cold.
"Don't worry about it."
He paused.
"I promise everything will return to peace in two or three days."
Yang Yun bit her lip.
"But..."
Just then.
Her phone rang.
Yang Yun took out her phone.
Looked at the caller ID.
She frowned.
"It's Xiaoya from the Studio."
She pressed the answer button.
"Hello, Xiaoya."
A girl's voice came from the other end of the phone.
With obvious anxiety.
"Sister Yang, something's happened!"
Yang Yun frowned.
"What's wrong?"
Xiaoya's voice was trembling.
"This afternoon, several clients called..."
She paused.
"They all said they wanted to cancel their orders, and some clients who had paid deposits didn't even want their deposits back."
Yang Yun froze completely.
"That serious?"
She paused.
"Which clients?"
Xiaoya rattled off a few names.
They were all major clients.
Yang Yun's face grew increasingly grim.
"Did they give any reasons?"
Xiaoya paused.
"They all said they had a sudden change of heart."
She paused.
"But I feel... something's not right."
Yang Yun gripped her phone tightly.
"I understand."
She paused.
"You can go home now, I'll handle this."
Xiaoya acknowledged.
And hung up the phone.
Yang Yun put down her phone.
She felt somewhat dazed.
Li Wei hugged her.
"What's wrong?"
Yang Yun bit her lip.
"The Studio... something's happened."
She paused.
"Several major clients canceled their orders today."
Li Wei frowned.
"Which ones?"
Yang Yun rattled off a few names.
After Li Wei heard them.
His eyes grew even colder.
"Are they all Murong Wan's connections?"
Yang Yun nodded.
"Probably."
She paused.
"These clients were all introduced by Murong Wan."
Li Wei sneered.
"Looks like Lin Tianhao is moving fast."
Yang Yun leaned against his chest.
"What should we do?"
Her voice trembled slightly.
"These few orders account for one-third of the Studio's business volume..."
Li Wei hugged her tighter.
"Don't be afraid."
He paused.
"It's just a few orders, isn't it?"
Yang Yun looked up.
"But..."
Li Wei interrupted her.
"Yun Yun, listen to me."
He looked into her eyes.
"I've seen your designs."
He paused.
"They are truly excellent, beyond reproach."
Yang Yun bit her lip.
Li Wei continued.
"These clients canceling their orders isn't because your designs are bad."
He paused.
"It's because Lin Tianhao is playing tricks."
Yang Yun fell silent.
Li Wei continued.
"So you don't need to doubt yourself."
He paused.
"And even less, be afraid."
Yang Yun's eyes reddened.
"But... but I'm really so unwilling..."
Li Wei lowered his head.
And kissed her forehead.
"I'm here."
He paused.
"The sky won't fall."
Yang Yun's tears fell.
She threw herself into Li Wei's arms.
"Li Wei..."
Li Wei hugged her.
Gently patting her back.
"Don't cry."
Yang Yun rubbed against his embrace.
"I'm not crying."
She paused.
"I'm just... just feeling sad inside."
Li Wei stroked her head.
"I know."
He paused.
"But you have to trust me."
Yang Yun looked up.
"I trust you."
She paused.
"I've always trusted you."
Li Wei smiled.
"That's right then."
The two just held each other.
Neither spoke.
After a while.
Li Wei's phone also rang.
Immediately, he had another bad premonition.
He frowned and took out his phone.
Looked at the caller ID.
Qin Xue.
