202: Next Beast Selection

"Northwest, is it? Thanks for the info!"

Having a direction was better than knowing nothing at all.

Chen Fei headed northwest, investigating as he went.

He discovered that the mist was concentrated within this particular valley; beyond it, there was none.

After crossing the mountain ridge ahead, a biting cold wind whipped around, carrying swirling snowflakes.

Having tempered his body in the Icy Spiritual Pool, such temperatures were not difficult for Chen Fei to endure.

"Coo~ Speaking of which, what type of beast do you plan to contract for your fifth one?"

"Meow~ Tell us so we can give you some suggestions."

"Awoo~ Another companion is joining us."

Lin Ya didn't interject, but his gaze remained fixed on Chen Fei, clearly quite interested as well.

After all, every additional beast meant an increase in combat power.

Lin Ya naturally hoped the fifth beast's potential wouldn't be too weak—at least not too far behind their own.

But then again...!

Whether it was Little Gu's Void Attribute, Wu Yun's tribulation lightning, or Chi Yu's super-strong Soul Skills, they all seemed beyond the reach of ordinary Yao Beasts.

Finding a beast on this continent that could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them was truly no easy task.

Chen Fei had some thoughts: "I'll tell you what I'm thinking, and you guys can give me your input.

For the Insect Race, having Little Gu is enough.

We have tribulation lightning, Soul, and Space, but we lack the Light Element, which is very effective against Evil Beasts.

However, the Light Element and the Assassin Class are opposites; it's virtually impossible for both to appear in the same living being.

Attributes that could align with the Assassin Class should include the Ghost System, Demon System, Curse System, Seal System, Mirror System... and of course, there's another possibility: Demonic Plants."

Demonic Plants?

"Coo~ Chen Fei, you're actually thinking of contracting a Demonic Plant?"

"Awoo~ That's something I never expected."

"Meow~ That sounds interesting!"

Even Lin Ya gave Chen Fei a few extra looks: "Are you serious?"

Chen Fei shrugged and explained, "In this great war, you all saw the role Demonic Plants played.

Though they move slowly, they can essentially capture any Yao Beast that gets close to them immediately.

Furthermore, Demonic Plants with stronger attributes and Aptitude possess a near-immortal body.

As long as some seeds or similar parts remain, they can undergo Nirvana and Rebirth.

So, using a Demonic Plant to lead the charge and provide control while you guys deal damage from the back—that kind of lineup has some real potential, don't you think?"

The beasts fell into deep thought.

According to Chen Fei's vision, it did indeed have potential.

Demonic Plants were famous for their strong control abilities; combined with the slaughter value granted by the sacred codex, there was no telling what kind of monstrous existence would be created.

Chen Fei added, "One more thing: movement speed is a weakness for Demonic Plants, but with Ya here, that weakness is practically non-existent.

Ya can teleport the Demonic Plant to wherever it's needed at any time and let it go on a killing spree.

Imagine how terrifying it would be when a Demonic Plant with super-strong attributes also has the ability to teleport..."

*Hiss—*

The Four Beasts all sucked in a breath of cold air.

They could already imagine the scene.

During a battle, a Demonic Plant appears out of thin air and binds the enemy Beast Tamer—the mere thought was terrifying.

"Coo~ So what are your options? Feng Hou Blood Vine, Soul Corpse Wrapping Vine, or perhaps the Red Spider Lily.

But it seems only the Soul Corpse Wrapping Vine belongs to the Assassin Class."

"Awoo~ Then the Soul Corpse Wrapping Vine's abilities would conflict with mine."

"Meow~ Then it looks like we'll have to pick again."

Seeing that Chen Fei didn't seem to be in a hurry, Lin Ya asked tentatively, "Do you already have something in mind?"

Chen Fei shrugged. "I have some ideas, and that's the Primordial Fierce Land.

I've heard that Primordial Remnant Species are everywhere there; it would be a pity not to take a trip!

However, the Primordial Fierce Land is in the eastern part of the continent. I'll go there after dealing with the Green Robe Tower and Number 0.

Of course, if I encounter a suitable one in the meantime, I'll consider it. It doesn't strictly have to be a Demonic Plant."

Chen Fei's requirements for a beast had always been fate, personal preference, and Aptitude.

And fate always came first.

It takes ten years of cultivation to cross a river in the same boat, and a hundred years to share a pillow.

What about a beast?

How many lifetimes of cultivation and waiting were needed for such an encounter?

Therefore, fate was sometimes even more important than Aptitude.

"Coo~ Then it's settled. Once these matters are resolved, we'll go check out the eastern part of the continent together."

"Meow~ But I heard the eastern part of the continent is a sea region?"

"Awoo~ Sea regions are usually quite hot; it wouldn't be strange for there to be more Demonic Plants."

Lin Ya walked with his arms crossed. "I'll vet them for you when the time comes. If they're too weak, they won't get past me."

Chen Fei laughed. "Alright, we'll all vet them together!"

*Boom!*

Just as Chen Fei and the Four Beasts were chatting and laughing, a sudden loud noise caught their attention.

"Shh, let's get closer and take a look!"

As they approached, they realized it was a group of people besieging a Rank 4, Level 5 Star-Rubbing Ice Bear; it didn't have much to do with the Green Robe Tower.

The Star-Rubbing Ice Bear's entire body was covered in a thick layer of blue-white, ice-crystal armor. It looked heavy but exceptionally domineering.

Moreover, its ice-crystal armor was extremely hard; even against four Rank 4, Level 6 beasts, its defense remained unbroken.

"Damn it, this Star-Rubbing Ice Bear's armor is too hard; I can't cut through it.

Fire-element beasts, give me everything you've got! Fire counters ice—create an opening for me!"

This Grandmaster-level Beast Tamer had not given up and ordered his subordinates to help.

At that moment, a sudden change occurred.

This group of people had originally intended to lure the Star-Rubbing Ice Bear out and then surround it.

To their surprise, the Star-Rubbing Ice Bear had companions who had silently surrounded them instead.

And it wasn't just one, but three.

Including the original one, there were four in total, blocking the group's path of retreat.

Now, even the Grandmaster Level expert began to feel a headache coming on.

He could escape on his own, but his subordinates wouldn't be able to.

If these dozens of people were all buried here, then this trip would have been for nothing!

"Dammit, why is this trip so unlucky!"

While Dou Chenyang was still weighing the pros and cons, hesitating between escaping or saving his people, he noticed the ground suddenly began to tremble.

The ground where everyone was standing suddenly began to collapse, revealing a massive, bloody maw beneath.

That was a member of the Kin left behind by the Ten Evil Kings—the Roaring Snowman.

Its upper body resembled an ordinary snowman, but its lower body had eight spider legs, allowing it to leap rapidly across the icy ground.

Its body was gargantuan, reaching dozens of meters in height.

Its wide-open, bloody maw could even swallow a four-meter-tall Star-Rubbing Ice Bear whole; it was terrifyingly formidable.

Seeing this Rank 4, Level 8 Roaring Snowman, Dou Chenyang's heart filled with despair: "My life is over!"

In that moment of life and death, a shadow flickered rapidly.

It held a Skeleton Sword, and wherever it went, it delivered a single strike—and only a single strike.

Because neither the Roaring Snowman nor the Star-Rubbing Ice Bear could withstand that strike; they were instantly decapitated.

"Oh? This Roaring Snowman is quite interesting."

Chen Fei saw the Roaring Snowman discard its lower body and then let its head melt rapidly, merging with the snow on the ground to seep into the earth and hide.

It was so fast that even Lin Ya didn't have time to react much.

The vitality of these Evil Beasts was always so tenacious—so tenacious that even under Lin Ya's strike, it hadn't been completely killed.

This would be essentially impossible for an ordinary Yao Beast.

However, no matter how it tried to flee, it couldn't escape Wu Yun's tribulation lightning...
