37: Chapter 37 I am an orphan, but my sister is not.
To Su Mu, there were only two people in this world who were his closest kin.
Lin Ruoxi and Leng Jing.
Walking up to Arena No. 8, an examinee was just about to step onto the stage.
Su Mu stopped the examinee, then stepped onto the arena himself, pulling a long spear out from his storage space.
The tip of the spear pointed directly at the short-haired female examiner.
"You! Fight me!"
Seeing Su Mu's furious expression, the female examiner felt a trace of fear in her heart; it felt as if she were being stared down by a ferocious beast.
The female examiner asked tremulously,
"Who are you?"
"An orphan!"
The female examiner was already at a loss, holding her Tang sword and not knowing what to do.
Just then, a middle-aged man ran from the rostrum to Arena No. 8.
He also jumped onto the stage, glancing at Su Mu and then at the female examiner.
The female examiner exchanged a pitiful look with the middle-aged man for a brief moment.
"Sir, we are conducting the High School Entrance Examination. Please do not disturb our exam."
Su Mu naturally saw the look they shared. But he didn't care; this person's strength was at most Tier 3.
And even if he couldn't win, Su Mu had to vent this anger for Lin Ruoxi.
"Since you want to cover for her, then the two of you can come at me together. As long as you can beat me, I'll leave immediately."
As he spoke, Su Mu pointed the spearhead at the middle-aged man.
In an instant, the atmosphere in the arena became extremely tense.
"Sir, I advise you not to push things too far, otherwise, it won't look good for anyone."
Su Mu ignored him and spoke again.
"I'll give you three seconds to take out your weapons. After three seconds, I'm making my move."
"Sir..."
"3!"
The man had just opened his mouth when he heard Su Mu start the countdown. He immediately drew his weapon.
"2!"
"1!"
The countdown ended, and Su Mu lunged in front of the two with a flicker of movement, sweeping his spear across. The Grade-B alloy combat spear was swung with such force it bent into an exaggerated arc.
*Bang!*
The middle-aged man was sent flying by this heavy blow, crashing directly into the corner of the arena.
Although this man was a Tier 3 ability user, he was clearly hollowed out by wine and women.
In contrast, after Su Mu's body had been tempered by the essence blood of an eighth-tier ferocious beast, his strength had reached a whole new level.
Currently, a full-strength strike from Su Mu relying purely on physical power was already very close to the advanced level of Tier 3.
After the man was sent flying, Su Mu held the spear in one hand and repeatedly thrust at the short-haired female instructor.
*Puchi, puchi, puchi!*
Several bloody holes appeared on the female instructor's body.
However, Su Mu deliberately avoided her vital points; on one hand, her crime didn't warrant death.
On the other hand, one could not kill people here.
After a mere ten seconds, the short-haired female examiner collapsed to the ground.
"You are so arrogant here at Modu Ability University; I think you've got a death wish."
The man who had just been swept away by Su Mu's spear was crawling on the ground, still throwing harsh words at him.
"Is that so? I wasn't planning on looking for trouble with you."
The man didn't understand what Su Mu meant and thought he was going to come over and beat him with the spear, so he felt a bit afraid.
But Su Mu didn't move; instead, he walked off the arena and stood next to Lin Ruoxi.
Then he pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed He Kui, the Admissions Director of Modu Ability University.
"Hello—Director He?"
When the call connected, He Kui heard that Su Mu's voice was somewhat cold. Moreover, Su Mu usually called him 'Teacher He,' but today he addressed him directly as Director He.
He Kui realized that Su Mu must be very angry right now.
"Student Su, is something the matter?"
"Director He, the invitation letter for the Affiliated High School of Modu Ability University wasn't in our previous agreement, right?"
"Yes! Because it wasn't appropriate to write that clause into the contract."
"I see! I thought that since it wasn't in the contract, Director He didn't intend to fulfill it."
Su Mu's repeated use of 'Director He' made He Kui tremble with fear. Yang Wendao was now dead set on taking Su Mu as his disciple; in other words, offending Su Mu was offending Yang Wendao.
"Student Su, I'm sure there must be some misunderstanding. What exactly happened? Where are you now?"
Su Mu didn't actually intend to make things difficult for He Kui, but whether it was his own lack of an admission notice or the unfair treatment his sister received, He Kui bore responsibility.
"I'm at the High School Entrance Examination grounds of Modu Ability University."
After saying that, Su Mu hung up the phone.
Su Mu then looked at the man lying on the ground, whose face was now full of terror.
Although he didn't know who Su Mu had just called, he could tell from Su Mu's tone that the person on the other end was no small figure.
He had kicked a steel plate!
Less than ten minutes later, He Kui rushed to the examination grounds.
He walked straight toward Su Mu, glancing at the situation on the arena.
"Student Su, what exactly is going on!"
Su Mu gently stroked Lin Ruoxi's head, then said softly to her:
"Xiao Xi, tell Director He what that examiner just said to you."
Xiao Xi then aggrievedly repeated the short-haired female examiner's words to He Kui.
This included the part about telling Lin Ruoxi to get lost back to Jianglan.
Su Mu continued, "Director He, I originally planned to let Xiao Xi take the exam in Jianglan, but you had us come to Modu a week early and arranged for her to take the exam here.
Now that this has happened, what do you say should be done!"
"This is indeed my fault. Leave this matter to me to handle; I will definitely give you a satisfactory result."
The middle-aged man lying on the ground turned deathly pale the moment he saw He Kui.
Su Mu nodded; the matter had to be resolved after all.
And He Kui had actually left a decent impression on him.
When trouble arose, he didn't shirk responsibility but instead took the initiative to own it and find a way to solve the problem.
Su Mu could only say that anyone who could become the Admissions Director at Modu Ability University definitely had some substance.
However, He Kui was currently feeling extremely bitter in his heart.
He was already busy enough to be run off his feet during this school opening period, and now something had gone wrong with the 'God of Wealth' who could get him a promotion and a raise.
Just one missed instruction, and such a big problem occurred.
He shook his head inwardly and took out his phone to call for backup.
After all, this was a matter concerning the Affiliated High School of Modu Ability University; as the Admissions Director of the university itself, it wasn't appropriate for him to overstep his bounds.
Actually, in terms of rank, He Kui seemed inferior to the principal of the affiliated high school.
But one had to understand that although He Kui's position was just an Admissions Director, it was an extremely vital post.
Furthermore, one couldn't judge that the high school principal was greater than He Kui simply because 'Principal' sounds higher than 'Director'.
Yang Wendao was still a Vice-Principal; who would dare say he was inferior to the principal of the affiliated high school?
Even ten such principals wouldn't dare provoke Yang Wendao.
Lan Ya, the Principal of the Affiliated High School of Modu Ability University, quickly arrived at the exam grounds, and He Kui explained everything to her.
This capable female principal knew of Su Mu; when He Kui first tried to recruit him, he had come to her for an invitation letter to the affiliated high school.
She had been very happy then, as she could do He Kui a favor.
A favor from He Kui was very useful, given he was the Admissions Director of Modu Ability University.
If a relative's child had slightly poor results in the Ability College Entrance Examination and couldn't quite qualify for Modu Ability University, having this favor...
...they could get in. After all, if the score difference wasn't too large, He Kui could find any excuse to bring someone in.
But now, before the favor could be cashed in, a hot potato had arrived first.
Lan Ya fired the short-haired female examiner and the middle-aged man without hesitation and personally apologized to Lin Ruoxi.
Seeing that both of them had good attitudes, Su Mu didn't pursue it further.
However, he still said to Lan Ya:
"I am an orphan, but my little sister is not!"
