387: Chapter 387 Future Generations

A few breaths later.

A cold shout from the Weirdness echoed from behind the portal.

“A mere Dao Exhausted Level Immortal Emperor dares to trespass into the Land of Origin? Die!”

As the shout fell, a flash of mournful, vivid blood-light appeared behind the portal.

Immediately after, a jade dragon with a broken horn emerged, carrying the corpse of a young man. It flew forward without looking back.

It was none other than Ai Li and Lin Yang.

Ai Li was bold; taking advantage of the moment when the surviving Weirdness were severely injured by Lin Yang and fell into a weakened state, she charged in alone and snatched away Lin Yang's corpse.

But the Weirdness were, after all, invincible beings in the Sacrificing the Dao Domain. Even in a weakened state, they were not opponents a Dao Exhausted Level Immortal Emperor could match.

A tiny finger-sized hole could be seen on Ai Li's forehead. The Primordial Spirit inside had already been shattered, and Soul fragments were continuously dissipating outward.

“Thud!”

Finally, exhausting her last bit of strength, Ai Li brought Lin Yang to a mysterious hidden space within Chaos.

This was a space left behind by the primordial heavenly dao in the past. The vast Universe was under the surveillance of the Weirdness; only here was it possible to evade their gaze and remain undetected.

After the arduous journey to reach this place, Ai Li's flawless pupils completely dimmed.

“If anyone remembers your name in the future, I hope there will be a day of return...”

In the final moments before her Primordial Spirit vanished, Ai Li used her life to carve a blessing, and then the jade perished.

...

Rumble!

The heavens trembled. Amidst the blood-colored sunset, heaven and earth resonated, and the myriad worlds chimed in unison. The Dao Domain left behind by Lin Yang was collapsing, and his figure gradually blurred in the hearts of everyone.

“Heavenly Emperor!?”

People cried out, discovering in horror that memories of the Heavenly Emperor were rapidly fading. All traces of his existence—past, present, and future—were being erased by an irresistible, eerie power.

Someone wanted to wipe the Heavenly Emperor from the entirety of ancient history!?

“How can this be!?”

Many shouted in grief and indignation, especially the old-timers who had survived The Heaven Burying War. Their eyes turned red as they desperately tried to record proof of the Heavenly Emperor's existence.

Atop mountain peaks, at the bottom of the vast seas, upon the sun, moon, and stars—in every place where records could be kept—people carved the past deeds of Lin Yang.

However, the power seeking to erase the traces of the Heavenly Emperor was too vast; it could suppress time and space and obliterate all tangible things.

The records left by all living beings through their utmost efforts were blurring, fading, and soon vanished without a trace.

It was simply impossible to leave behind proof that the Heavenly Emperor had ever existed.

“No!”

Some old men roared, “It cannot be like this! We must leave proof of the Heavenly Emperor's existence; it might be useful in the future!”

Finally, a group of the era's top experts stepped forward. They attempted to engrave an Era History Book with blood and bone, intending to hide everything related to the Heavenly Emperor within it in the form of metaphors, waiting for future generations to discover...

Finally, before all traces of Lin Yang were wiped from the world, the experts of this era completed this Era History Book!

“It is finally finished!”

“The strongest history book throughout the ages!”

People were overjoyed to have completed such a monumental masterpiece, which recorded the Karma of the million years before and after The Heaven Burying War.

“Strange, why does it feel like something is missing?”

“Indeed, I also have a vague feeling, as if a corner of the history book is missing...”

But inexplicably, the beings of this era felt empty in their hearts, as if they had forgotten something extremely important, accompanied by an inexplicable sense of sadness.

However, very soon, this strange feeling dissipated with the wind, leaving nothing behind.

Lin Yang no longer existed in the world.

People knew not his surname nor his name; they only knew that such a peerless being had once been born between heaven and earth, who had charged alone toward the end of the darkness and never appeared again...

“Very well. His past was sacrificed by himself; his present has been erased by us, and his future has also dissipated. This person completely ceases to exist!” In the darkness, a heavy whisper came from one of the Weirdness.

“That is for the best. This person was far too terrifying,” another Weirdness spoke.

The other Weirdness nodded in deep agreement.

The Hundred Eerie Clans were destroyed by him. Of the ten Weirdness, four were beaten into a State of Silence, and the surviving Weirdness had all suffered severe depletion of their Origin.

Consequently, they would have to enter slumber again for a long period of recuperation.

“When we awaken once more, it shall be the day the heavens are completely extinguished!”

...

Time flowed on.

In the blink of an eye, thirty million years had passed.

The Ji Family.

Late at night, in a bedroom.

“Mother, don't go! Tell me more stories about The Heaven Burying War, please, I beg you, I beg you!”

A little girl, as delicate as carved pink jade, was pleading with a beautiful woman for a bedtime story.

The little girl had exquisite features, lively large eyes, and chubby, cute pink cheeks. She was the pearl of the Ji Family, Ji Ru Qianlong.

“Alright, alright, but only for a little while.”

Unable to resist the little girl's pleading, the beautiful woman gave in. She opened a dust-laden ancient book and began to tell her about a peerless war that had once occurred in this world!

“Yay~ Mother is the best mother in the whole world!”

The little girl lay obediently in bed, covered with a silk quilt, listening to her mother narrate the legendary stories from the history book...

“Alright, I've finished. Can our little darling sleep peacefully now?” The beautiful woman closed the book and asked with a doting look, glancing at the little girl who still had her bright, watery eyes wide open.

“Mhm~” The little girl nodded.

“Then, goodnight, my little darling.”

The beautiful woman smiled and leaned over to give the little girl a light peck on the forehead. Then she turned to get off the bed, stepped into her shoes, stood up to blow out the candle on the nearby table, and slowly exited the room.

“Mother, did that person from the legend really exist?” the little girl suddenly asked as she watched the beautiful woman slowly retreat.

“Perhaps.”

The beautiful woman shook her head with some uncertainty. After all, it was ancient history from tens of millions of years ago, long since unverifiable. No one could be sure if such a peerless being had truly existed.

However, in her heart, the beautiful woman didn't quite believe it.

Because their Ji Family was one of the Supreme families that had risen in later generations. They had several Immortal King Old Ancestors presiding over them, dominating their region and holding a resounding reputation throughout the myriad worlds.

In the entire heavens, only those few ancient clans with Immortal Emperors could stand above the Ji Family.

But as far as the beautiful woman knew, even if the Immortal Emperor ancestors of those ancient clans were added together, they would not be as powerful as the peerless being recorded in the ancient history.

Someone even stronger than an Immortal Emperor?

How could such a person exist?

Not only did the beautiful woman not believe it, but many in the heavens also disbelieved, considering it a fictional character fabricated by predecessors, not a real person.

Because, if such a powerful being had truly appeared in ancient history, why wouldn't the history books record him?

However, for reasons the beautiful woman didn't understand, her precious daughter, the young Ji Ru Qianlong, seemed to believe firmly in that being's existence.

“Perhaps children just like to fantasize that there are heroes in the world who transcend everything...” The beautiful woman slowly closed the door and left.

After watching her mother leave, the little girl lay in bed, her gaze drifting out the window.

The stars were brilliant, and the starry sky was silent.

“What kind of person would he be? I really want to see for myself...”

Accompanied by the twinkling of the boundless starlight, the little girl gradually fell into a peaceful sleep.

At the same time.

In a certain Void Realm of the heavens, Chaos surged, and several figures stood there like statues that had existed since eternity.

They were Immortal Emperors born in later generations, gathered here because they perceived the approach of a terrifying crisis.

“The darkness has been getting more active lately. I can feel that the time for the Weirdness to make a comeback is not far off!” an Immortal Emperor said solemnly.

The other Immortal Emperors looked grave. As the strongest beings in the heavens today, they had a deeper interpretation of the ancient history from thirty million years ago.

But the more truth they knew, the more fear and despair they felt in their hearts!

That was an era of great upheaval... where even Immortal Emperors would fall in droves!

“We must find that person!” another Immortal Emperor spoke in a heavy voice.

The others looked at him, and someone whispered, “Do you really think such an invincible being once existed in the heavens?”

The previous Immortal Emperor frowned and pondered for a long time before slowly speaking, “The few Immortal Emperors mentioned in the ancient history were not enough to survive The Heaven Burying War! There must have been an unmentioned existence who took action!”

“And... that person was extremely powerful!”

There were parts of the ancient history that were very strange and blurred.

This was the conclusion he had deduced based on the doubtful parts of the ancient history, though it was difficult to convince the other Immortal Emperors.
