28: The fierce Li Songzheng (please read it)

Qin Jiang felt his heart tighten as he looked at the somewhat bizarre scene before him.

The first time he saw these guys on that street, he felt something was off, giving him an inexplicable sense of oppression.

Today, this feeling of oppression was even more pronounced.

After waiting for a moment, he found no signs of activity from these people; they seemed to be truly dead.

He quietly circled to the front of the house door, extended his hand, and placed it under the nose of the last yellow-robed person.

He frowned slightly; there was no Qi. Were they really dead?

The night wind blew in, carrying the scent of sandalwood from outside the door, rustling the yellow cloth strips hanging from the rafters. The surroundings were terrifyingly quiet.

He tried a few other people, and it was the same.

Withdrawing his hand, he now realized that the blood-red patterns on their faces were not paint at all, but were drawn with fresh blood.

The source of the blood was probably the old man lying there.

However, this scene before him truly made him confused. Was it a sacrifice?

He looked up at the stone statue; its massive stone body seemed to be pressing down, exuding a heavy sense of oppression.

His gaze fell on the bronze statue in front of the stone statue. After a moment of hesitation, he walked over and gently placed his hand on it.

After one breath, he withdrew his hand, his eyes somewhat disappointed.

No potential points; perhaps it had just absorbed once and hadn't condensed yet.

Ding-a-ling~

In the silent night, a crisp sound of a bronze bell rang out. Qin Jiang's spirit jolted, and he quickly looked at the robed Daoist priest.

But the bell sound did not come from the Daoist priest; he still had his eyes tightly closed.

Ding-a-ling~

Another bell sound rang out. Qin Jiang looked up and saw a bronze bell hanging from the rafters. From its appearance, it was the same one the robed Daoist priest had in his hand that day.

Ding-a-ling~

With three bell rings, Qin Jiang suddenly felt a pang in his heart. He quickly got up and hid behind the stone statue. After thinking for a moment, he still felt it was dangerous, so he directly climbed out the window and observed the inside through the small opening he had made earlier.

A moment later, a rustling sound came out, but his view was blocked by the statue, so he could only see parts of the area, and these parts just happened to not show the group of yellow-robed people.

Whoosh~

The sound of a torch being lit rang out, and the room suddenly became bright. Then he saw two shadows gradually approaching the pillar on the left side of the room.

As the shadows gradually shrank on the pillar, the figures of the two also became visible.

Qin Jiang's pupils constricted. In his line of sight, these were not two people, but two gray-furred rats standing upright and wearing yellow robes!

Their sharp muzzles twitched unconsciously, causing a few whiskers to tremble along with them.

Their claw-like hands lifted, and two torches were lit.

Squeak!

After a sharp squeak, the two yellow-robed rats turned around, clasped their hands together, and the fur on their bodies gradually receded, transforming into human form.

"Bow~~! Divine Mother~~ bestow~~ grace!"

The familiar strange tone rang out. The rat Essence Spirit, transformed into human form, prostrated itself on the ground, continuously bowing devoutly forward.

Outside the window, Qin Jiang swallowed. Essence Spirits, absolutely Essence Spirits! And all of them were transformed Essence Spirits!

If calculated by strength, transformed Essence Spirits, or rather, Essence Spirits, possessed at least the strength comparable to a true Martial Artist!

Especially with that rat Essence Spirit disguised as a Daoist priest, whose depth was unknown, it could be said that this group of rat Essence Spirits could almost run rampant in the outer city!

Thump-thump-thump!

A series of hurried footsteps came from outside the house. A plump figure quickly walked in; it was Li Songzheng.

"Daoist priest! How are the preparations?" Li Songzheng spoke, his voice somewhat high-pitched.

"Patriarch Li, this humble Daoist has already paid respects to the Divine Mother. We only need to sacrifice another hundred living beings, and the Resurrection Medicinal Pill can be bestowed."

The Daoist priest had also transformed into human form by this time, standing up with his hands clasped together.

Li Songzheng's brows furrowed upon hearing this. He knew that the living beings the Daoist priest spoke of were not livestock, but people, living people!

"Daoist priest, haven't fifty people already been sacrificed? Why still more? If too many die at once, it will be very troublesome for me too."

It had been agreed upon earlier, but now not only was the price increased, it was doubled, which made him somewhat angry.

He didn't care about these hundred lives; he just felt that this damned stinky rat dared to deceive him.

However, he didn't immediately flare up, because he had personally witnessed the Daoist priest's miraculous Medicinal Pill that could bring people back from the dead.

To save his wife, he couldn't offend the Daoist priest for now.

"That was what was said before, but the Divine Mother is not satisfied because the offerings here are too poor.

If they could be replaced with some Martial Artists, perhaps not even a hundred would be needed. Patriarch Li can also choose not to do it, but then the Resurrection Medicinal Pill will no longer be mentioned."

The Daoist priest had a calm expression, clumsily imitating the demeanor of an otherworldly master.

Li Songzheng lowered his head, his eyes gloomy. Martial Artists? Quite an appetite!

Even if they weren't Cultivating true martial arts, but just Martial Artists who had practiced some scattered techniques, gathering a hundred of them would be absolutely impossible.

Ordinary commoners died and that was that; no one cared anyway. But Martial Artists were different.

These people were the foundation of various forces in Black Mountain City. Three or five deaths wouldn't be much, but exceeding twenty would definitely attract attention.

At this moment, he also understood that this was not the Divine Mother wanting offerings at all; it was this stinky rat itself wanting to eat people!

He adjusted his expression, looked up, and said with a smile, "Martial Artists are a bit unrealistic. Ordinary people might still be worth a try."

The Daoist priest's eyes slightly opened, and he nodded slightly, "Acceptable."

With that, he raised his hand and beckoned. The bronze bell on the rafters made a crisp sound and flew into his palm.

Catching the bronze bell, his gaze was somewhat startled, and he turned to look behind the stone statue, the very spot where Qin Jiang was located.

Seemingly sensing the Daoist priest's gaze, Li Songzheng also reacted somewhat, looking in Qin Jiang's direction and roaring, "Who's there!"

His voice vibrated, and in a trance, it was like an eagle's cry.

He took a step, and a powerful force rose from his feet, causing the fat on his body to ripple from the impact.

Qin Jiang's eyes widened outside the window. What's going on?! I've been discovered?

The bell! It was that bronze bell!

He instantly realized that he had let his guard down because nothing had happened after the three bell rings!

There was no time to think, because in his line of sight, Li Songzheng's corpulent body was already attacking.

He had no intention of dodging. Now that he was at the second level of Iron Arm Fist, how many in the outer city were his match?

Crack!

His fist Qi burst forth, directly shattering the window in front of him, meeting Li Songzheng head-on.

Boom!

An irresistible, immense force struck, shaking the surrounding air into white Qi waves.

In an instant, he felt as if all his bones were wailing!

Bang!

His body was heavily sent flying, directly hitting the ground and creating a deep pit.

"Cough! Cough!"

Coughing up a mouthful of blood, he didn't have time to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth before he fully mobilized all the Qi and blood in his body, because Li Songzheng had already arrived in front of him.

Aow—!

A sound like a divine eagle's cry rang out. In a trance, Qin Jiang seemed to see a majestic eagle swooping down from a high altitude, intending to hunt him!

In that instant, his eyes slowly widened, carrying a hint of disbelief. How could he be so strong?!!!

In a hurry, he raised his arms to block in front of him. The next moment, the attack arrived.

Crack!

The sound of bones breaking rang out. His arms were heavily slammed into his chest, and he flew backward like a kite with a broken string!

In mid-air, he forcibly lowered his gaze to look at Li Songzheng.

'Potential! Add points!'
