33: Purchase materials
“Ah.” Luo Yang also exclaimed in surprise, clearly this was content not covered in books, or perhaps these topics would only be touched upon in university.
“Alright, you two take good care of the shop. I’m going back to my research, striving to pass the Bright Moon Breeder assessment as soon as possible.”
Ever since Luo Yuheng learned that Luo Chen’s Soul Departure Certificate had been cured, he had poured his entire being into Breeder research.
Sure enough, as soon as things settled down, he rushed back to his research.
According to Luo Chen, to become a Star Breeder, one must successfully evolve three nine-star King Beasts into Spirit Beasts during the assessment.
The assessment for a Bright Moon Breeder is relatively more difficult; it requires the Breeder to master at least five evolution paths for Fierce Beasts into Spirit Beasts, and one evolution path for a Spirit Beast into a King Beast.
Of course, this assessment will not be a test of knowledge, but will truly require the Breeder to cultivate the Beast to that realm.
He heard that such tests would not take place in the real world, but would be simulated in a virtual world, so there was no need to worry about the lack of Beasts and materials.
Through this, Luo Chen remembered that he was currently still an Apprentice Breeder, which made him a little disheartened, but the most important thing now was to complete the system’s mission first.
Looking at the streets still being cleaned outside, Luo Chen suppressed the urge to immediately buy materials. Tomorrow, he thought, the city should be cleared by tomorrow. If he went today, the shops might not even be open.
As expected, there were no customers that day. Luo Chen closed the shop early and took his parents and brother home.
The next day, Luo Chen entrusted the task of minding the shop to his mother, Su Muqing, and excitedly rushed to the Chamber of Commerce Building with Luo Yang.
The height of the Chamber of Commerce Building was insignificant compared to the hundred-story buildings Luo Chen had seen in his previous life, appearing to be only a dozen stories high from the outside.
However, this was already the tallest building in Qingyang City, because of Beasts and the city’s protective energy membrane, buildings within the city could not be built too high.
But he had heard that there were many towering buildings in Middle City and Upper City, which Luo Chen had never seen.
Downstairs in the Chamber of Commerce Building, Luo Chen and Luo Yang, holding the gold card given by their mother, walked into Qingyang City’s largest trading center.
The first floor was a spacious hall, stretching as far as the eye could see, with numerous shops mostly selling daily necessities for ordinary people.
There weren't too few people inside the building, indicating that this was the place least affected by the siege crisis.
Luo Chen had no intention of wandering around downstairs. He pulled Luo Yang directly into the VIP elevator, swiped the card, and headed to the sixth floor.
“Ding.” The elevator doors opened, and the first thing to greet the two was a sweet “Welcome.”
A woman in a professional uniform with a beautiful appearance stood outside the elevator, gesturing for Luo Chen and Luo Yang to enter.
Initially surprised, Luo Chen quickly composed himself and stepped out of the elevator.
“What do the two of you need?”
“Several materials: Clear Heart Flower, Fig, Autumn Moon Vine, Gold Sandstone, and icy jade.” Luo Chen rattled off several materials.
“Alright, please follow me.” Hearing Luo Chen list several relatively precious materials, the guide’s expression remained unchanged as she led the way for the two.
Exiting the elevator hall, they first entered another large hall. In the center of the hall stood a massive rock made of profound iron, with the three large characters ‘Qingyun Pavilion’ inscribed on it.
Behind the massive rock, six entrances were circularly distributed.
Material Hall, Spirit Ore Hall, Beast Hall One, Beast Hall Two, Cultivation Hall, and Potion Hall.
Qingyun Pavilion, an industry under the Liang Corporation, and the Qingyun Rare Item Auction are collectively known as the pillar industries of the Liang Corporation.
Qingyun Pavilion boasted the most abundant variety of Beast-related items in Qingyang City; if they couldn't find it there, it was virtually impossible to find it elsewhere.
The welcoming lady led the two into the Material Hall on the far left. While it looked ordinary from the outside, it was a world of its own inside.
The space inside must have been expanded using a Beast’s Skill, making it exceptionally large, with numerous hidden compartments on the surrounding background walls.
Luo Chen remembered it being very similar to the traditional Chinese medicine pharmacies he had seen before, but here, it held Beast-related materials, and all the compartments were covered by a special layer of energy.
To retrieve items from within, a special method would likely be required.
The welcoming lady led the two to the counter in the entrance hall. “Master Li, these two guests need to buy some materials.”
Hearing the welcoming lady’s words, Master Li, who was wearing glasses and reading a book, put down his book and asked gently, “What materials do the two of you need?”
Luo Chen repeated the materials he needed. Master Li nodded knowingly. “How much of each do you require?”
“Three Clear Heart Flowers, two Figs, three ten-year-old Autumn Moon Vines, and three catties each of Gold Sandstone and icy jade will suffice.”
After hearing Luo Chen’s request, Master Li chuckled and stroked a small, emerald-green bird on his shoulder. The bird then flitted up and down between the compartments.
In a moment, it returned with four of the items Luo Chen needed floating behind it.
“You two can inspect the quality of the materials. Feel free to speak up if there are any issues.”
The items from Qingyun Pavilion were quite reliable; even an outsider like Luo Chen felt that these materials were of excellent quality.
“How much?” Luo Chen handed his gold card to Master Li.
Master Li chuckled as he quoted, “A total of four hundred and fifty thousand spirit coins.”
Luo Chen felt a pang of heartache, but thankfully, he was spending money from the gold card, so rounding it up, he didn't spend any money. Luo Chen instantly cast aside his distress.
Master Li packed the five materials, and Luo Yang took them, placing them into his storage bracelet.
Having no other needs, the two prepared to return home, but then they saw an acquaintance in the hall.
“Manager Wei.”
Wei Yansheng tilted his body and saw a handsome young man calling his name, then immediately, with surprise, took two or three steps forward.
“Little Boss, what are you doing here?”
“Buying some materials. Manager Wei, your Fragrant Rabbit has already been cultivated to Fierce Beast six-star. When do you have time to pick it up?”
Yesterday, the Fragrant Rabbit he had boarded had already met the requirements for Fierce Beast six-star, but with the sea beast siege and the shop upgrade yesterday, he had forgotten about it. Seeing Wei Yansheng now reminded him.
Wei Yansheng was very surprised to hear Luo Chen’s words. He truly hadn’t expected Luo Chen to have cultivated that Fragrant Rabbit to such a degree in just a few short days.
“This is… astonishing. However, I’ve been extremely busy these past few days. Please allow that Fragrant Rabbit to remain boarded with the Little Boss for a few more days.”
Luo Chen hesitated and nodded, “That’s fine, but there will be a new daily charge for subsequent days.”
Hearing Luo Chen’s words, Wei Yansheng was somewhat exasperated, “Alright, alright, I’ll pay when I come to pick up the Beast.”
“But Little Boss, are you interested in the Qingyun Rare Item Auction?”
“Qingyun Rare Item Auction?” Luo Chen mumbled, “Manager Wei, what do you mean?”
“The Qingyun Rare Item Auction, originally scheduled for the end of the month, will be moved up to five days from now. Moreover, this will be the grandest Qingyun Rare Item Auction ever, featuring many of our most prized possessions. If the Little Boss is interested, I still have invitation cards here.”
Luo Chen hadn't reacted yet, but Luo Yang was already frantically tugging at his sleeve behind him. Luo Chen smiled helplessly.
“Then many thanks, Manager Wei. How many people can one invitation card bring?”
Wei Yansheng pulled out an invitation card with a green background and gilded text, handing it to Luo Chen.
“One card can bring one attendant. However, if it were according to the previous specifications, a Fierce Beast six-star Fragrant Rabbit would also be able to enter the auction. Now that the specifications have been raised, it cannot, which is a bit of a shame.
However, that mystic spirit grass is still among the auction items, and it will surely fetch a high price this time. If the Little Boss has any other mystic spirit grass he wishes to sell, you must not miss this opportunity.
The Beast Masters from Liuyun City are truly wealthy and powerful.”
After hearing Wei Yansheng’s last words, Luo Chen seemed to understand why this Qingyun Rare Item Auction was moved up and why its scale was unprecedentedly large—it was all for the Beast Masters from Liuyun City.
After saying all this, Wei Yansheng hastily bid farewell to Luo Chen, seemingly very busy.
Putting away the invitation card, Luo Chen and Luo Yang immediately headed back home.
