27: Chapter 27 He is my husband
"Jiang He, you just wait for me..."
Zhang Zixuan left a harsh threat and squeezed out of the crowd, looking dejected.
"That idiot is really something!" Zhao Yun clicked his tongue. "In just this half a day, I heard he blew over ten million! He hired a bunch of people to grind levels frantically just to rush up here!"
Jiang He's mouth twitched. "You should have said so earlier... If you paid me, I would have guaranteed your safety, wouldn't that have been better?"
Ten million? His heart was bleeding.
He quickly introduced Chang'an City to Zhao Yun and the other two, preparing to take them to queue for the city entry quest.
Outside the city, it was still packed with people.
Just as they moved near the queue, Zhang Zixuan's annoying figure appeared again.
He brandished the quest scroll in his hand, his nose in the air. "Heh, keep waiting slowly! I spent money to cut the line and got it done long ago!"
"Tch!"
"Moron!"
The four of them simultaneously turned their backs on him.
Just then, the sound of rhythmic, powerful footsteps came from afar.
The patrol had arrived!
The leading general, Zhang San, spotted Jiang He at the edge of the crowd instantly and immediately led his men over at a jog.
"This subordinate Zhang San pays respects to Lord Baron."
This scene instantly silenced a large portion of the noisy city gate square.
Everyone looked over, dumbfounded.
Jiang He felt his scalp tingle and quickly waved his hands. "Get up, get up! I told you not to kneel in the future!"
"Yes, My Lord."
Zhao Yun stared with wide eyes and shouted, "Holy crap? Brother, have you become this badass in just a few days?"
Xiao Yao and Xiao Xue also covered their mouths in shock.
"An accident, purely an accident..." Jiang He helplessly held his forehead.
Zhang San asked respectfully, "My Lord, are you here... waiting in line?"
"Yeah, I'm taking my friends to get the city entry quest."
"What?" Zhang San's face turned livid instantly. He turned his head abruptly. "You bastards! Drag the city gate lieutenant on duty today over here!"
In less than half a minute, a soldier wearing a low-level military uniform was dragged over, so scared that his face was drained of color. "Zhang, Lord Zhang, what crime has this subordinate committed?"
Zhang San pointed at Jiang He, furious. "You idiot! Do you have eyes or are you just breathing? How dare you make Lord Baron wait in line here?"
The soldier followed Zhang San's finger, and when he saw the bright [Baron of Chang'an City] ID above Jiang He's head, his brain buzzed. His legs went completely weak, and he flopped onto the ground.
"Lord Baron, this little one deserves to die! This little one had dog eyes and failed to recognize a superior! I didn't know it was you! Please spare this little one!" He cried and crawled forward on his knees, tears and snot streaming down his face.
This scene completely refreshed the worldview of Zhao Yun and the other two.
Zhang Zixuan, not far away, was completely petrified, his jaw almost hitting the ground.
Only half a day?
This kid became a noble?
Jiang He had a massive headache. "Get up quickly! I didn't blame you! I was just taking my friends to get a normal quest; I really didn't mean to disturb you."
The soldier, as if granted amnesty, scrambled and poured a large stack of scrolls from his chest. "My Lord! The quest scrolls are all here! Your friends can pick whichever they want! Choose whichever!"
"Bang!" Zhang San kicked him in the butt. "You bastard! What quest are you still talking about? Directly process the identity certificates for His Lordship's friends! Immediately! Right now!"
The soldier was scared silly. After realizing what happened, he scrambled to take out three documents stamped with official seals, stamped the bright red seals thud, thud, thud, held them high above his head with both hands, his voice trembling.
"My Lord, it... it's done! Your friends' identity certificates are processed! They can enter the city at any time!"
Jiang He didn't stand on ceremony, took the documents, and thanked him.
"It is this little one's greatest honor to serve you!" The soldier's voice changed pitch from excitement.
These scenes left the players who had just reached level 20 and arrived outside the main city completely confused.
"I... what did I just see? Why don't they have to do the quest?!"
"New here, right? See the one with the title above his head? He's a noble! He got in through the back door."
"But why don't his friends have to do the quest either?"
"Stupid! This is called 'when one person gets ahead, their whole circle follows', understand?"
Jiang He shoved the three identity certificates to Zhao Yun and the other two, then turned his gaze to Zhang Zixuan not far away.
"Young Master Zhang, take your time grinding the quest~ We'll be heading into the city first!"
After speaking, the four turned around and stepped into the tall city gate without any obstruction.
Zhang Zixuan gripped the quest scroll he had spent one million to cut the line for, his knuckles turning white.
One million... bought nothing?
Someone got it done with just one sentence?
How is this damn game supposed to be played?
Inside Chang'an City, it was far more prosperous than Novice Village.
Jiang He briefly told the three about his experience.
Xiao Xue skipped over and grabbed Jiang He's arm. "Big Brother~ Oh no, Lord Baron! Do we have to kneel and bow to you in the future?"
Jiang He smiled and ruffled her hair. "Naughty! Hurry up and go do the dungeon!"
Today was the dungeon opening day, and Jiang He had been waiting for these few teammates.
He knew that challenging the dungeon had team requirements.
The four headed straight to the dungeon reception area.
Quite a few players had already gathered here.
"Powerful team, need 2 more! Need a tank and a healer!"
"Looking for a group! DPS is explosive!"
Jiang He just walked up to the official issuing the quests.
The official was lazily leaning back in his chair, dozing off, and waved his hand impatiently. "Accepting quests? Go queue at the back..."
But when his gaze swept over the ID above Jiang He's head, he jolted, almost falling off his chair!
"Ouch! So it's Lord Baron! My apologies, my apologies! Are... are you here to accept the dungeon quest?"
Jiang He sneered inwardly: Sure enough, privilege is useful everywhere.
"Yeah, what dungeons are available now?"
"Reporting to My Lord! Currently, only the [Phantom Labyrinth] dungeon is open! Are you planning to test your skills?" The official bowed and scraped.
"Fine, let's do that one."
"Alrighty! Preparing the scroll for you immediately!" The official's efficiency was astonishing; he took the scroll and handed it to Jiang He.
[Dungeon: Phantom Labyrinth]
[Entry Requirement: 5-10 person team]
Jiang He frowned and looked at Bai Luoyao. "Xiao Yao, have the others from your Bai family entered Chang'an? We're still missing one person."
Bai Luoyao had just opened her friend list to contact someone.
A hearty voice with a smile chimed in. "Haha, Brother Jiang, what a coincidence!"
It was Gu Qingming, walking over with his team that clearly looked well-trained.
"Yeah, but it's different from Novice Village here; it requires at least a five-person team to enter, and there's only four of us."
"Haha, is that all? I have plenty of people here, just borrow a few from me."
As soon as Gu Qingming finished speaking, his gaze swept over, and the smile on his face froze instantly. "Yaoyao?"
Bai Luoyao also recognized him, and without a word, she pulled Jiang He away. "Jiang He, let's go somewhere else! I don't want to see him!"
Gu Qingming immediately chased after them a few steps, forcibly blocking their path, his tone urgent. "Yaoyao! Why are you hiding?"
"I get annoyed just seeing you!" Bai Luoyao's tone was cold.
The tension was thick enough to choke on.
Jiang He sensed something was wrong. "Uh... are you guys... acquaintances?"
"Very well acquainted!" Gu Qingming answered first.
"Don't know him!" Bai Luoyao retorted almost simultaneously.
Jiang He helplessly held his forehead; this was definitely a rich family feud!
Gu Qingming's eyes flickered, as if he had figured something out. "So that's it... Is Brother Jiang from the Bai family? No wonder your growth speed is so astonishing."
Jiang He was just about to deny it.
But Bai Luoyao took a step forward, firm and decisive. "He is not from the Bai family!"
"Not?" Gu Qingming paused, his confusion deepening. "Then you two..."
"He is my brother-in-law." Xiao Xue, who had been holding back, rushed over and pushed aside the blocking Gu Qingming. "Go away, you bad guy! Stop pestering my sister! Brother-in-law, let's go!"
"Brother-in-law?"
Gu Qingming turned his head abruptly, his voice low and cold.
"Are you her boyfriend?!"
Jiang He felt his scalp tingle and hurriedly waved his hands to explain. "No, it's a misunderstanding, Xiao Xue is just..."
However, before he could finish his last word.
Bai Luoyao grabbed his arm. "He is not my boyfriend."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"He is my husband."
