27: Cipher clues and new targets
Police Station Chief's Office.
Relying on his professional skills as a Locksmith, Wu Qiong...
...quickly opened the heavy safe.
Inside, there were no gold or silver treasures, nor piles of cash.
There was only a yellowed file folder and an old-looking notebook.
"Captain Wang, I found it!"
Wu Qiong's voice carried a hint of irrepressible excitement.
Wang Yi took the file folder and notebook, quickly flipping through them.
Inside the folder was a report on the t-virus leak incident.
It detailed the virus's origin, spread routes, and information on some early infected individuals.
The notebook contained some scribbled notes and a hand-drawn city map.
On the map, three locations were circled in red: the Police Station, the Fire Station, and a building called "City Hall."
Next to City Hall, a small "X" was drawn in pencil.
"City Hall!"
Wang Yi's gaze was fixed on the "X" on the map.
He knew this was likely where the next password clue was located, or even the final location of the t-virus serum.
Su Yuan silently pondered.
Now that they had the Police Station clue...
...the next target was naturally the Fire Station or City Hall.
He switched his perspective to the Fire Station.
Li Bingyao and Liu Meng were busy there. Liu Meng had reinforced the Fire Station like a small fortress.
Li Bingyao was organizing medical supplies in the infirmary, occasionally heading out to clear zombies around the perimeter.
"At the Fire Station, Liu Meng and Li Bingyao have established a foothold, and they need a clear objective."
Su Yuan thought to himself.
"Since it's marked on the map, I'll have them look for the Fire Station clue."
He immediately issued a new task to Liu Meng and Li Bingyao via the system panel.
[Task Name]: Fire Station Clue Search
[Task Description]: Comrades Liu Meng and Li Bingyao, according to the intelligence we have, the second key clue regarding the t-virus serum may be hidden within the Fire Station. Use the station's facilities and your professional knowledge to search the interior, especially the archives, offices, and other important areas.
[Task Reward]: None
While issuing the task, Su Yuan also used the voice channel to share the latest discovery from the Police Station...
...and the new target, City Hall, with the entire team.
"Attention everyone, we've obtained the first password clue, and it points to City Hall."
Wang Yi's voice rang out in the channel with a hint of excitement.
"Next, Liu Meng and Li Bingyao, your task is to find the second clue at the Fire Station. Everyone else, stand by, resupply ammunition, and wait for further instructions."
"Yes!"
Liu Meng and Li Bingyao responded in unison, their faces filled with excitement.
They knew they could finally contribute more to the team.
Su Yuan watched the screen, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
He knew that as intelligence was unlocked, the speed of clearing the dungeon would increase.
However, just as he was feeling relieved...
...bad news came from the Intelligence Group at the Command Center.
"Reporting to General Lin and Major General Li! We've detected a significant increase in the intensity of cyber and public opinion attacks against our country!"
An intelligence officer reported hurriedly.
"These attacks mainly originate from the Lighthouse Country, the Japan, and several other major nations. They are targeting our national destiny arena project and some key livelihood infrastructure."
"What?!"
General Lin Zhan slammed the table, his expression instantly darkening.
Major General Li Guodong also frowned deeply.
He knew those people must have seen the Dragon Country's great progress and started using underhanded tactics!
"They're trying to distract us and keep us occupied in the real world!"
Li Guodong analyzed.
"At the same time, they're trying to use public opinion to damage our morale or even create panic."
Hearing this, Su Yuan's heart sank.
He knew the battle for national destiny wasn't just inside the dungeon.
The struggle in the real world was equally brutal.
"Comrade Su Yuan, what's your take?"
General Lin Zhan looked at Su Yuan, his tone heavy.
Su Yuan took a deep breath. He knew this was a challenge he had to face as the Administrator.
He couldn't just focus on the dungeon and ignore the real-world threats.
"General Lin, Major General Li."
Su Yuan said solemnly.
"I believe the better we perform in the dungeon, the more desperately they will try to sabotage us in the real world. Their goal is to make us stop our progress."
"Therefore, we absolutely cannot stop!"
A determined light flashed in Su Yuan's eyes.
"We must clear the dungeon and obtain the t-virus serum as quickly as possible!
Only then can we gain a true leading advantage in the real world and make all their schemes come to naught!"
Lin Zhan and Li Guodong looked at each other, seeing agreement in each other's eyes.
"You're right!"
General Lin Zhan nodded heavily.
"We can't let them lead us by the nose! We must speed up our progress!"
"Comrade Su Yuan, if you need anything, just ask!"
Major General Li Guodong's tone was firm.
"We will fully cooperate with you and support all your actions in the dungeon!"
A wave of warmth surged in Su Yuan's heart. He knew he wasn't fighting alone. Behind him was the entire Dragon Country.
"Good!" Su Yuan took a deep breath. "In that case, I suggest we move on City Hall immediately after we get the clue from the Fire Station!"
"City Hall is the final target. It likely hides the final location of the t-virus serum or the strongest guards."
Su Yuan analyzed.
"We need more information and more preparation."
"And before that, I need to further strengthen the team members!"
Su Yuan's gaze fell on the Arena Mall once again.
He knew now was not the time to save national fortune points.
Facing pressure from both inside and out, they had to meet the challenge in their strongest state!
