223: Chapter 223 Zhu Sha Returns to Her Heart
A fire slowly began to consume the Wang Family's ancestral home, the flames burning fiercely. Qin Yun watched as a young woman burdened with hatred slowly emerged from the blaze.
Her eyes were rimmed with blood and tears, her body was utterly exhausted, and her hands still carried the faint scent of blood.
Clearly, she had taken her revenge with her own hands and, while she was at it, set a massive fire to burn all the evidence here to ashes. The moment Zhu Sha saw Qin Yun, her body could no longer hold up, and she collapsed directly into his arms.
Qin Yun hurriedly caught her, whispering softly.
"You must be tired. Get some rest. From this day on, the nightmare in your heart will vanish into thin air along with the flames."
Zhu Sha didn't speak, merely clinging tightly to Qin Yun's body before whispering.
"Boss, I killed so many people. Everyone in the Wang Family... they are all in this fire... Was what I did really right?"
Qin Yun gently rubbed her head. "You did the right thing. When there is a blood feud, you must demand an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I don't know much about grand principles, but I do know that when you cut weeds, you must pull them out by the root. Besides, there are no innocent people in the Wang Family. Everything they enjoy now was built upon the flesh and bones of your Zhu Family. You've just been tense for too long, and now that your heart has finally found a moment of long-awaited relief, you're simply exhausted. Get some rest."
"...Mm, thank you, Boss. Boss..."
...
Qin Yun acted quickly. After all, they were in the Imperial Capital; after wiping out a Family, one had to leave in a hurry.
Although the operation had been swift, the blaze at the Wang Family's ancestral home still caught the attention of the authorities.
Countless ambulances and fire trucks arrived, but once they extinguished the inferno, they found nothing but charred corpses. The entire Wang Family had been buried in the sea of flames; not a single person had escaped.
Although forensic pathologists found traces of combat and physical altercations on the bodies, the security cameras had been destroyed and most of the evidence had vanished into the inferno. Even if the authorities wanted to investigate, it would be extremely difficult for them to trace anything back to Zhu Sha or Qin Yun.
Back at the hotel, Qin Yun laid the exhausted, tear-worn Zhu Sha onto the bed. He stretched slowly; Zhu Sha's revenge had been settled just like that—it really was absurdly quick.
Then again, the Wang Family wasn't exactly a major clan to begin with, and with his current strength, wiping them out was a trivial matter.
Afterward, Qin Yun looked down at Zhu Sha's weary face and couldn't help but let out a long sigh.
"This girl should be able to live a little easier from now on. At the very least, she needs to shed that assassin persona of hers. In Great Xia, being an assassin isn't exactly a respectable profession."
Qin Yun gently stroked Zhu Sha's hair. He made no further move, simply watching her quietly.
After a long while, Zhu Sha slowly opened her eyes. When she noticed her surroundings and then looked at Qin Yun's face, she couldn't help but speak.
"Boss, I..."
"Congratulations on getting your revenge. I remember that the reason you stayed by my side was to seek vengeance. Congratulations, you've succeeded."
"I... thank you, Boss. If it weren't for you, I would never have known who my true enemy was in this lifetime... and I never could have defeated those three assassins... In any case, thank you."
Qin Yun smiled. "I don't think little Zhu Sha's gratitude would just be lip service, would it? I prefer something a little more practical."
At the mention of the word "practical," Zhu Sha's face flushed red instantly. However, she was happy today—truly, very happy—so she said softly.
"Boss, do you like this gift?"
As she spoke, Zhu Sha slowly loosened her clothing, revealing a glimpse of her bare shoulder. She only exposed a little bit on purpose, yet it made Qin Yun feel from the bottom of his heart just how wonderful the sight before him was.
"Little Zhu Sha, you're quite good at this! It seems you don't plan on getting up tomorrow morning."
Zhu Sha immediately wrapped her arms around Qin Yun's neck and kissed him. "Boss, everything that is Zhu Sha is now yours. I am yours forever."
Qin Yun held her tight. "Little Zhu Sha, from this day on, forget the past and start a new life. You are no longer an assassin, but a young woman. Is that okay?"
Upon hearing this, Zhu Sha didn't reply; she simply held onto Qin Yun even tighter. Her actions had already proven everything.
Qin Yun smiled, and a moment later, the sound of tearing fabric filled the room. Feeling the softness in his arms, Qin Yun once again savored the tenderness of this young woman.
