279: Chapter 279 Physical Salvation

Wang Chen looked at his surroundings, knowing he had broken free from the illusion.

He scanned the area; black mist still permeated the air, ruins still stood tall, and withered trees still swayed in the wind.

Nothing had changed.

What had changed was his heart!

He was no longer confused, no longer nostalgic, and no longer trapped by memories of the past.

He was the Emperor of the Tianxuan Dynasty, a powerhouse of the Immortal Realm; his path lay ahead, not behind him...

One should not assume this illusion was simple.

Its prowess lay in its ability to strike directly at the softest parts of the human heart.

Of those experts who entered the forbidden zone, which one did not have regrets?

Which one did not have obsessions?

Many were trapped in the illusion not because they couldn't see it was an illusion, but because many were unwilling to wake up.

In the illusion, they saw those who had died, things they had lost, and a past they could never return to.

They craved that beauty and warmth, so they sank deeper and deeper, eventually becoming unable to extricate themselves.

Wang Chen was able to break free for two reasons.

First, because he recognized it as an illusion, and second, because he was strong enough.

His Emperors Dharma Idol specialized in shattering all falsehoods.

His Power of Imperial Fortune specialized in suppressing all evil spirits.

Had it been anyone else, even if they discovered it was an illusion, they wouldn't have the strength to break out.

The power of the forbidden zone was not something an ordinary Immortal Realm cultivator could contend with.

Wang Chen looked around and realized that since stepping into this forbidden zone, it was as if he had entered an entirely independent world.

There was no sky, no ground, and no direction—only endless darkness and mist.

Even for someone as strong as him,

he had lost his perception of the outside world.

He couldn't even feel the passage of time; this place seemed like a corner forgotten by the world.

"A bit interesting."

Wang Chen subconsciously stroked his chin, becoming increasingly curious about this place.

"It seems this place is even more sinister than I imagined."

He didn't panic.

Because no matter how dangerous it was, he wasn't afraid.

After all, he was currently just a Clone; if it died, it died.

At most, he would lose some Power of Imperial Fortune, which could be reconsolidated after some time.

Furthermore,

his consciousness was still there; at most, he would just be missing one Clone.

"Though it's quite sinister, I'm just a Clone right now. What is there to fear? Just get it done."

Wang Chen grinned, picked a direction at random, and strode forward.

The surroundings

were all the same scenery.

Black mist, ruins, withered trees, and bleached bones scattered on the ground.

Some bones had already weathered away, turning to powder at the slightest touch.

But many were still intact, and on several of them, the power of Law could even be seen faintly fluctuating.

Wang Chen stopped his pace.

He then crouched down and carefully examined those bones.

The intact bones belonged to people who were powerful in life.

Even though they had fallen, and their Physical Bodies had rotted over time, their skeletons were preserved.

Especially those crystal-clear bones that looked like jade, which still bore faint patterns of Law.

"Those that could be preserved must have been at least in the Domain Realm when they were alive!"

"And these few crystal-clear skeletons, even after endless ages, still have the power of Law flowing through them. They must have been in the Immortal Realm during their lives..."

He looked at the several intact skeletons around him, feeling a sense of poignancy.

During their lives,

these people must have been figures who commanded the winds and clouds.

But now,

they had all died here, reduced to piles of white bones.

"Men die for wealth, birds die for food. All these people came here for the Opportunity within!"

"But it's understandable! An Opportunity of the Eternal Realm is indeed tempting, for even he could not resist it..."

After shaking his head with a sigh, he continued walking forward.

The deeper he went, the more bones there were.

In some places, the bones were piled into small hills, making his scalp tingle.

Wang Chen did a rough count; there were at least ten thousand skeletons just within his sight.

Among them,

there were at least a dozen skeletons from the Immortal Realm.

"A dozen or so Immortal Realm experts died just like that."

"This forbidden zone truly lives up to its name as the Death Forbidden Zone!"

Just as he was lamenting,

a sudden, mournful wind howled all around.

The black mist surged frantically, the temperature plummeted, and a bone-chilling cold rushed in from all directions.

Wang Chen frowned, stopped walking, and looked around warily.

"What's this?"

As soon as he spoke, countless figures suddenly emerged from the darkness.

Those figures

were of various forms: some looked like old men, some like middle-aged men, and others like various Yao Beasts.

However,

they all shared one thing in common—

they were not living people, but Remnant Thoughts.

They were the Remnant Thoughts left behind by the experts who had died here.

They had been trapped here for an unknown number of years.

They had no consciousness, no thoughts, only the instinct to devour all living things.

Wang Chen's appearance was like a bright lantern in the darkness, attracting the attention of all the Remnant Thoughts.

"Roar—!"

With a roar, countless Remnant Thoughts frantically charged toward Wang Chen.

They were extremely fast, surrounding Wang Chen in an instant.

They opened their mouths, revealing sharp teeth, wanting to devour Wang Chen's flesh, his Soul, and everything he possessed.

Wang Chen looked at the surrounding Remnant Thoughts, a flash of indifference in his eyes.

"A bunch of ants! You weren't my match in life, and now that you're just wisps of Remnant Thoughts, you dare to attack me? You're simply courting death!!"

He raised his hand and gave it a light wave.

A golden light instantly surged from his hand, directly enveloping all the surrounding Remnant Thoughts.

Under the illumination of the golden light, those Remnant Thoughts immediately let out shrill screams.

"Ah—!"

Their bodies began to dissolve.

Like snow meeting the sun, or ice meeting a raging fire.

In just an instant, hundreds of Remnant Thoughts vanished into nothingness.

"Overestimating yourselves."

Wang Chen withdrew his hand and continued walking forward.

But those Remnant Thoughts did not retreat because of his single strike.

They had no consciousness or thoughts, only instinct; they knew no fear or retreat, only to charge forward.

"Roar—!"

Even more Remnant Thoughts

emerged from the darkness, pouncing toward Wang Chen.

Wang Chen sighed.

"Since you seek death, I shall grant it to you."

He stopped his pace and formed hand seals.

A golden phantom emerged behind him.

It was the Emperors Dharma Idol, billions of feet tall, standing between heaven and earth, spanning the vault of heaven.

The golden light emitted by the Dharma Idol bloomed like the sun, illuminating the entire forbidden zone.

Under the golden light, the Remnant Thoughts were like they were being burned by a raging fire, letting out shrill screams.

They struggled desperately to escape, but the golden light was everywhere; they had nowhere to run.

"Extinguish."

Wang Chen calmly uttered a single word.

The golden light erupted instantly, and in just a moment, all those Remnant Thoughts were turned into nothingness.

The surroundings

returned to tranquility.

Wang Chen looked around, and after confirming no Remnant Thoughts remained, he withdrew the Emperors Dharma Idol.

"Physical Salvation is indeed simple and practical..."
