59: Surpassing the Golden Elixir
The fact that these things could exist in such a sinister environment spoke to their extraordinary nature.
Perhaps they were "remnants" from the ancient era that had leaked from this world or flowed in from other shattered worlds?
More importantly, he sensed that although the other side of the rift was chaotic and dangerous, the "concentration" and "activity" of the Spiritual Qi seemed to far exceed that of Demon Suppressing Island!
However, that Spiritual Qi was also exceptionally violent, mixed with even more unidentifiable alien energies.
At the instant Lin Mo was sensing with all his might, weighing the risks and rewards—
A sudden change occurred!
Deep within the rift, in the shadow of a large, upside-down landmass resembling a shattered palace, two crimson lights suddenly ignited!
Those lights were filled with a cold, greedy, and destructive will, as if they were alive, instantly locking onto Lin Mo on this side of the rift!
As well as the demon suppressing sword in his hand and the world quelling ruler fragment in his bosom!
A sense of pulling and erosion, a hundred times more terrifying than the Sea Eye's suction and acting directly on the Soul level, came crashing down!
Lin Mo felt as if he had been struck heavily; he let out a muffled groan, blood seeped from his seven orifices again, and his cross-legged body swayed.
He felt his consciousness, True Essence, and even his vitality begin to flow uncontrollably toward those crimson lights!
"What is that?!" He was horrified.
The demon suppressing sword erupted with unprecedented light, starlight connecting into a sheet, turning into a solid barrier to protect Lin Mo's body.
The world quelling ruler fragment also flew out from his bosom of its own accord, hovering above Lin Mo's head and shedding ripples of dark golden halo that stabilized the space.
The two treasures joined forces, barely resisting that terrifying Soul pull.
But the master of the crimson lights on the other side of the rift seemed to be enraged.
An unimaginably massive, blurry giant claw composed of shadows and dark red energy slowly emerged from behind the shattered landmass.
Carrying a power that made space wail, it actually penetrated part of the chaotic cracks in the Void Realm, clawing fiercely toward this side of the rift, toward Lin Mo!
Wherever the giant claw passed, the floating fragments disintegrated one after another, and the chaotic rules were forcibly torn open into a temporary, unstable passage!
Impossible to contend with! Even impossible to block!
At this moment, Lin Mo clearly felt the breath of death. The level of that giant claw's master definitely surpassed the Golden Core!
Escape!
He had to escape immediately!
He frantically pushed his True Essence, no longer stingy with consumption, pouring it all into the Stone Raft's runes and the demon suppressing sword.
The Stone Raft was like it had been whipped hard, suddenly shooting backward!
The demon suppressing sword's light flashed wildly, forcibly distorting the small-scale space turbulence behind him to form a reverse thrust.
At the same time, at the moment the giant claw was about to touch the edge of the rift, Lin Mo had a sudden flash of inspiration, and he slammed most of his True Essence and will, along with the power of the world quelling ruler fragment, into the demon suppressing sword.
He swung his strongest sword strike to date toward the spatial node where the connection between the giant claw and the rift was weakest!
This strike had no brilliant sword light.
There was only a thin, pale golden line, condensed to the extreme, as fine as a hair, as if it had severed light and sound.
The thin line swept past silently.
Pfft!
Like a balloon being pricked by a needle.
The fragile connection point between the giant claw and the rift was briefly severed by the True Essence characteristics contained in this strike and the spatial stabilization power of the world quelling ruler fragment!
Though it was only for a negligible instant, and the cost was that Lin Mo's True Essence was almost exhausted, the demon suppressing sword's light dimmed, and the world quelling ruler fragment fell back into his bosom, turning cold.
But this instant was enough.
The giant claw suddenly stalled, letting out a silent but Soul-shaking roar of fury.
It was then caught and pulled by the even more violent Void Realm turbulence from behind, quickly retracting into the shadow of the shattered landmass. The crimson lights flickered unwillingly a few times before finally being swallowed by the chaos.
Meanwhile, Lin Mo's Stone Raft, using the recoil of that sword strike and the previous full-force backward shot, rushed out of the Sea Eye's core suction range like an arrow from a bow, fleeing frantically toward the direction he came from.
His face was as pale as paper, and he spat out several mouthfuls of stagnant blood containing fragments of internal organs. His consciousness blurred in waves, and he relied entirely on a surge of ruthlessness to keep the most basic operation of the Stone Raft's runes going, letting the turbulent ocean currents push the Stone Raft along.
After an unknown amount of time, when a normal horizon appeared in the sky and the leaden gray receded to be replaced by a normal twilight, the Stone Raft finally hit a desolate beach.
Lin Mo struggled to crawl off the Stone Raft, but as soon as he stepped onto the sand, his vision went black, and he completely lost consciousness.
Night fell, and the waves gently lapped at the beach, drawing the simple black Stone Raft and the unconscious youth into the silent darkness together.
In the distance, in the direction of the Sea Eye, the gray-white vortex still rotated slowly, like an unhealing wound of this world.
Pain was the only coordinate.
His Meridians felt as if they had been sliced by a thousand knives and then roughly stitched back together. His Dantian and hidden acupoints, depleted of True Essence, sent out needle-like stabs of empty pain.
Deeper down, on the Soul level, there remained a cold sensation from being scanned by that crimson gaze.
After an unknown amount of time, a familiar and steady pulse came from his fingertips, like a lighthouse on a dark sea.
It was the demon suppressing sword.
It lay quietly by his hand, the starlight on its blade dim, yet it still emitted a faint but firm intent of sealing and protection. Strands of cool Qi flowed through the hilt into Lin Mo's damaged Meridians, slowly smoothing over the most violent injuries.
Lin Mo laboriously lifted his heavy eyelids.
What first caught his eye was a rough wooden roof, with a few rays of sunlight leaking through the gaps, carrying the unique salty and fishy smell of the sea breeze.
Beneath him was dry thatch, and he was covered with a coarse but clean linen cloth.
A simple fishing hut.
He tried to move, but his whole body felt as if it had fallen apart, his muscles limp and weak. Only the stinging pain in his Meridians and the emptiness in his Dantian reminded him that his previous experience was not a nightmare.
"Ugh..." A suppressed groan escaped his throat.
"Young Master, you're awake?"
A low, slightly raspy, but exceptionally steady voice sounded at the door.
Lin Mo turned his head with difficulty.
Standing at the door was a middle-aged man wearing a gray short-sleeved tunic, with an ordinary appearance and a temperament as calm as a stone.
He held a bowl of steaming fish soup that emitted a faint medicinal scent.
A Death Warrior.
Moreover, Lin Mo immediately identified through that mysterious connection that this was One Three Six, the one summoned seven days ago.
His innate skill was Basic Herb Identification and Processing. It seemed he had found the unconscious Lin Mo and performed preliminary treatment.
"Where... is this?" Lin Mo's voice was hoarse and dry.
"To answer the Young Master, it's a nameless small island about a hundred miles off the East Coast.
Based on my weak connection with the Young Master and the exploration of the companions summoned a few days ago, One Three Four (Basic Navigation) and One Three Five (Basic Meteorological Observation), I judged that you might drift in this direction and found you on the southern beach of this island yesterday evening."
One Three Six reported concisely, placed the fish soup on a simple wooden block by the bed, and then took a step back, standing respectfully with his hands down.
