Chapter 3 The Wolf King's Secret
Lin Feng led the girl through the ruins and arrived at a hidden cave entrance.
The entrance was covered by vines; if not for the system's guidance, it would have been impossible to discover this place.
"After we go in, don't touch anything randomly," Lin Feng whispered a warning.
The girl nodded nervously, following closely behind him.
The interior of the cave was spacious, with deep blue ores embedded in the stone walls, illuminating the cavern as if it were daytime.
The deeper they went, the lower the temperature dropped, and the air was filled with a strange fragrance.
Walking to the end of the cave, a stone platform appeared before them, with an ancient wooden box placed on top of it.
[Hidden Quest Triggered: The Wolf King's Secret]
[Quest Objective: Open the wooden box and obtain the inheritance]
[Quest Reward: Special Class Unlocked, Purple Equipment × 1]
Lin Feng stepped forward and reached out to touch the wooden box.
"Click—"
The wooden box opened slowly, revealing a yellowed piece of parchment inside with a line of small text written on it:
"Only the owner can see the truth."
Just then, a system prompt popped up:
[Detected that player Lin Feng possesses the "Slaughter Reaper" talent]
[Inheritance conditions met]
[Accept the Wolf King's inheritance?]
"Accept!"
In an instant, countless pieces of information flooded his mind—these were the life-long combat experiences and techniques of the Severed-Eye Demon Wolf King, as well as a deep understanding of the Abyss Game.
More importantly, he gained crucial information about the "Hidden Class."
[Congratulations to Lin Feng for obtaining the Wolf King's inheritance]
[Unlocked Hidden Class: Hunter]
[Change class to Hunter?]
Lin Feng did not hesitate: "Change class!"
A warm current surged through his entire body, and his body underwent a wondrous transformation.
His strength, speed, and perception were all comprehensively improved; his skin became tougher, and his eyes could see details from further away.
[Congratulations to Lin Feng for successfully changing class to Hunter]
[Level reset to Lv.1]
[All stats +50%]
[Obtained class-exclusive skills: Hunters Eye (Green), Beast Affinity (Green), Wild Rage (Blue)]
[Obtained inheritance weapon: Hunting Bow (Purple)]
"Level reset?" The girl covered her mouth in surprise.
"It doesn't matter," Lin Feng said calmly. "The stat boost after changing class is stronger than reaching Lv.10."
He brought up his new attribute panel:
[Hunter · Lin Feng]
Level: Lv.1 (0 / 150)
HP: 150 / 150
Strength: 15, Agility: 18, Constitution: 12, Spirit: 20
With all stats increased by 50%, he was now much stronger than he was at Lv.3.
"Hunters Eye, activate!"
Lin Feng softly chanted the skill name.
The next moment, his eyes changed—his pupils turned pale gold, and red and green markers appeared in his vision.
Red represented enemies, while green represented neutral or friendly targets.
Furthermore, a small dot appeared next to each target, which indicated their weak point.
"Is this... Hunters Eye?"
Lin Feng looked toward the cave exit; in the distance, a few red markers were approaching.
"Someone is coming," he said, gripping the Hunting Bow tightly.
"Are they hostile players?"
"No, it might be monsters attracted by the sound of combat," Lin Feng said, nocking an arrow onto the string. "Perfect, time to test my new skills."
Heavy footsteps came from outside the cave, and three massive demon bears walked in.
[Hostile target detected: Demon Bear (Lv.8) × 3]
[Weak points: Heart, eyes]
Lin Feng narrowed his eyes and simultaneously activated "Beast Affinity."
A miraculous thing happened—the three originally ferocious demon bears suddenly stopped in their tracks, the anger in their eyes slowly subsided, and they even began to nuzzle each other, as if they had forgotten Lin Feng's existence.
[Beast Affinity effect active, target hostility reduced by 80%]
"This skill is just too strong..." The girl was dumbfounded.
Lin Feng did not let his guard down; he aimed at the heart of the demon bear on the far left and gently released the bowstring.
"Whoosh—"
The arrow flew out like a shooting star, accurately hitting the target!
[Critical Hit! Dealt 350 damage]
[Demon Bear HP: 0 / 800]
One-shot kill!
The remaining two demon bears were jolted awake and charged angrily toward Lin Feng.
"Wild Rage!"
Lin Feng let out a low shout; his muscles tensed, and his speed and attack power instantly increased by 50%.
He dodged the first demon bear's pounce by sidestepping and shot an arrow through its eye with a backhand shot.
Then he turned around and pierced the second demon bear's heart with one arrow.
In less than ten seconds, all three Lv.8 demon bears were defeated.
[Congratulations to Lin Feng for defeating Lv.8 Demon Bear × 3]
[Obtained EXP: 450]
[Level increased to Lv.2]
[Obtained skill: Bear Skin Armor (Green)]
Lin Feng took a deep breath and put away his bow and arrow.
After changing class, his strength had increased tremendously. He was now qualified to challenge higher-level targets.
"Let's go, it's time to check out the Novice Village."
He led the girl out of the cave, and in the distance, the outline of a small village could be faintly seen.
That should be the Novice Village—the starting point for all players and the first battlefield of the Abyss Game.
"When we get to the Novice Village, will you join a guild?" the girl asked.
"No," Lin Feng shook his head. "I only trust my own strength."
"Then... can I follow you?"
Lin Feng glanced at her. "You can, but you have to be careful yourself. I won't necessarily protect you."
The girl nodded earnestly. "I understand."
The two continued walking forward, their shadows stretched long by the afterglow of the setting sun.
Behind them, a huge shadow was slowly rising—it was the first BOSS area of the Abyss Game, and also the nightmare of countless players.
There were only three kilometers left until the Novice Village.
