Chapter 18 Fate

"Sorry to trouble you to come in person, Manager An. Let's get straight to the point. Where's the contract?" Li Suifeng certainly wanted to enjoy the sight of a beautiful woman, but he couldn't let women make him forget business.

After the pleasantries, it was time for work. Li Suifeng didn't waste time.

An Qiuli took several contracts out of her bag and handed them to Li Suifeng.

Li Suifeng took them and read them carefully.

Having learned his lesson in his past life, he took these contracts very seriously. Once bitten, twice shy.

After confirming there were no loopholes, Li Suifeng extended his right hand to An Qiuli. Understanding his intent, An Qiuli handed him a pen and inkpad.

Li Suifeng took them, signed his name on the contract, pressed his fingerprint, and then handed the contract back to An Qiuli.

An Qiuli took it, surprised at how simple this trip had been. After interacting with him, she found Li Suifeng different from what she had imagined.

Seeing An Qiuli's puzzled expression, Li Suifeng asked,

"Is there any problem?"

An Qiuli snapped back to reality and smiled.

"No, I just didn't expect it to go so smoothly. Seeing how you snapped at me on the phone today versus now, the contrast is so big I'm not sure you're the same person."

Li Suifeng understood immediately.

"I just don't like the condescending attitude of capitalists who habitually treat people like me as fools. But you're different from what I expected too. I didn't think you'd be so young and beautiful."

"No, no, you're not like them. Not everyone knows their own value like you do. But thanks for the compliment." An Qiuli had heard such compliments too many times; they didn't affect her.

Hearing this, Li Suifeng thought for a moment and nodded.

As the dishes were served, Li Suifeng started the conversation.

"Is your friend from around here too?"

"No, my grandmother is from here. I lived here for a few years as a child. We bought a house here together two years ago, but I spend most of my time in Guang City."

"You bought a house here but don't work here. From the looks of it, you're not short on money."

"Now that you mention it, I do have some thoughts, but I'm still not quite there yet."

An Qiuli's current position, though largely due to her own abilities, also involved family pressure, so she didn't have much say.

"Why did you come today? Given your level, it shouldn't be your turn to handle this personally."

As he spoke, Li Suifeng cut a piece of steak from his plate and put it in his mouth.

"Just a hardworking fate. The employee originally assigned to you was transferred to Kyoto for a new music variety show, and other departments are shorthanded.

The rest are just old-timers resting on their laurels, but you weren't attractive enough to them. And I happened to need this, so here I am."

"Since that's the case, I've released another new song today. It's decent quality, same terms. Do you want to sign it too?"

After saying this, Li Suifeng finished the rice in his bowl.

"Huh, another one? Why didn't you show anything before? Or have you had a sudden burst of inspiration and written so many songs?

With your talent, you could easily choose any of the top three entertainment companies in the country, couldn't you?"

Before this, An Qiuli was merely curious about Li Suifeng, but now she was completely shocked.

Leaving aside singing, many lyricists and composers go their whole lives without writing a single S-class classic song.

This young man in front of her had produced two such songs in just a few days, with the other two also rated A-class or above.

Entertainment companies would only use such songs for popular singers to boost their popularity or as lead singles for albums. Not like Li Suifeng, who just sang them live and then released them as singles.

Li Suifeng wiped his mouth and smiled confidently:

"Actually, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I have a lot more." Li Suifeng didn't know that this sentence would affect their future relationship.

Hearing this, An Qiuli rolled her eyes at him, thinking he was just bragging and narcissistic.

Seeing her disbelief, Li Suifeng shrugged helplessly.

"Do you want my new song or not?"

"I do, but I need to hear it first. What if you're fooling me?" Despite saying this, she was extremely looking forward to it.

After An Qiuli spoke, Li Suifeng took out his phone, pulled up tonight's live stream recording, fast-forwarded to the beginning of "suspended drowning," and handed it to her.

Taking the phone, An Qiuli pressed play.

...

After listening, An Qiuli returned the phone to Li Suifeng, her expression complex. Despite being mentally prepared, she was still shocked by Li Suifeng.

Was his inspiration truly bottomless? Meeting this man for the first time today had somewhat refreshed her understanding.

"Same as the previous three songs. I'll have someone send the contract over tomorrow."

"Then I'll take a slight loss. Happy cooperation."

Li Suifeng stood up with a smile and extended his right hand.

An Qiuli also stood up with a smile and extended her jade-like hand.

Li Suifeng gave a brief shake and withdrew his hand in less than two seconds.

An Qiuli even began to doubt her own charm. Usually, men who shook her hand, not knowing her identity, would want to hold on.

"Mr. Li, let's add each other on Feixin. Send me your card number later, and I'll have finance transfer the money to you tomorrow."

So, the two added each other on Feixin.

"Mr. Li, let me give you a ride back. It's on my way."

An Qiuli had a good impression of this man and didn't mind giving him a lift.

"Alright, thanks, Manager An."

Compared to taking a taxi, riding back in a sports car was better, especially with a beautiful woman.

Li Suifeng paid the bill; An Qiuli couldn't argue with him.

The two returned to the underground garage of Yujingxuan. Only when they got into the same elevator did Li Suifeng realize something was off.

When pressing the elevator button, Li Suifeng pressed for the 7th floor and looked at An Qiuli, who showed no intention of pressing anything.

"What a coincidence, you're on the 7th floor too?"

"Yes, you too?"

"I'm in 701."

"702."

"Is your friend Han Yayin?"

"You know each other? We've been best friends since childhood."

"Sort of. Maybe the three of us are fated."

As he spoke, Li Suifeng marveled at the wonder of fate.

"By the way, don't forget to upload your four songs at midnight. I'll give you the contract for 'suspended drowning' tomorrow."

After exiting the elevator, An Qiuli reminded Li Suifeng.

"Okay, I will."

Thus, An Qiuli returned to her apartment, turned on the air conditioner, sat on the sofa, and took out her phone. She saw an unread Feixin message.

She opened it and saw it was from Han Yayin, sent ten minutes ago.

"I had to rush to catch the flight this afternoon, so I hung up quickly. Just landed now."

Seeing this, An Qiuli couldn't be bothered to text and called her directly.

Meanwhile, at an airport in Kyoto, Han Yayin got out of a car, dragging her suitcase. As she walked out of the airport and reached the parking lot, she saw a woman in her forties and a slightly chubby girl walking toward her.

Han Yayin took off her sunglasses and mask as the two approached.

"Sister Xue, Lele."

The slightly chubby girl, at 1.5 meters tall, contrasted sharply with Han Yayin's 1.75 meters. From a distance, they looked like a mother and daughter.

The chubby girl walked over, took Han Yayin's suitcase, and started acting cute.

"Sister Yin, you're finally back."

Han Yayin ruffled her hair and looked at the other woman, who still had a certain charm.

"Let's get in the car first. I don't know if any paparazzi followed."

The woman spoke.

Han Yayin nodded. The three walked to a black minivan. Han Yayin got in first, followed by the woman in her forties, who took the driver's seat.
