80: Chapter 80 Disgusting Places
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran didn't say a word and walked away in disgust.
Xia Shaoxin had thought Senior Brother Liang was tougher, but to his surprise, Senior Brother Liang also gagged and vomited all over the ground.
The two of them walked while vomiting until they found a spot that looked clean and free of foreign objects, where they stopped to vomit properly.
They didn't stop until they had brought up their previous night's meal.
"This is too disgusting!"
"What is that smell!"
Both of them clutched their stomachs, pinched their noses, and their faces were pale.
Only then did Xia Shaoxin realize that the bodily fluids oozing from the Hundred-Legged Centipede after it was killed were extremely foul-smelling.
But having grown accustomed to this in Dawu Mountain, he didn't pay much mind to things that didn't affect his survival.
After all, the two Senior Brothers were seeing Poisonous Insects for the first time; it was a shocking experience for them, both visually and olfactorily.
Xia Shaoxin noticed that there were several red bumps the size of beans on the necks and hands of his two Senior Brothers.
He quickly pointed it out: "Senior Brothers, you've been bitten by something!"
"Ah!" Senior Brother Shao Junwei screamed, his vision went black, and he nearly collapsed.
"What the hell is this!" Senior Brother Liang Ruoran widened his eyes and cried out miserably.
"You have them on you too!" both Senior Brothers shouted in unison.
Xia Shaoxin then realized that he also had the same red bumps on his hands and neck.
They were gradually starting to itch.
"This thing is poisonous, yet Elder Qian didn't give us any antidote!"
Relying on his many years of experience with being bitten by Poisonous Insects, Xia Shaoxin concluded that these Poisonous Insects were only mildly toxic.
Senior Brother Shao Junwei shrieked: "You call this mildly toxic?"
"Yes, as long as it doesn't kill you, it's called mildly toxic," Xia Shaoxin said very calmly. "It's best if you resist the urge to scratch; once the toxic Qi dissipates, it will naturally be fine."
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran asked bitterly: "Didn't Elder Qian say this place was similar to Dawu Mountain? What antidote did you use before?"
This reminded Xia Shaoxin.
"But this isn't Dawu Mountain after all. Is my medicine really useful?"
"What's the harm in trying! Do you still have medicine?"
Xia Shaoxin took out the leftover medicinal liquid from his Storage Pouch. Without further ado, the three of them wiped it over the bumps on their bodies.
Each of them took a mouthful of calamus water.
This medicinal liquid was extremely unpleasant to drink; having been fermented for two years, the taste was even more bitter.
The two Senior Brothers pinched their noses and took a few large gulps, their faces twisted like bitter melons.
"You drink this normally?" Senior Brother Shao Junwei asked.
Xia Shaoxin nodded.
"Might as well just drink manure water!" Senior Brother Liang Ruoran muttered.
Xia Shaoxin smiled slightly: "Manure water is also called 'Golden Juice' and is indeed an antidote, but it's not as strong as the antidotes we Bug Catchers use."
Retch...
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran dry-heaved.
The medicinal liquid was truly hard to swallow, so the two returned it to Xia Shaoxin.
"Where exactly on the map is this place?" Senior Brother Shao Junwei took out the map, sweating profusely as he looked at it.
"No need to look at the map. I can only see twenty zhang ahead; anything further is hazy, as if shrouded in mist," Senior Brother Liang Ruoran said.
Xia Shaoxin frowned deeply and shared his thoughts: "In Dawu Mountain, I often see such scenes, shrouded in toxic miasma, unable to see very far. But this doesn't look like toxic miasma, or rather, it's a mist more potent than toxic miasma."
Senior Brother Shao Junwei put away the map.
According to Elder Qian Yunchang's plan, after they teleported, they were supposed to land at the Pavilion in the middle of the map, which was the safe zone.
Who knew what went wrong; they didn't land at the Pavilion.
"No matter which direction the Pavilion is in, the three of us staying together is better than searching alone," Xia Shaoxin suggested that the two Senior Brothers set off quickly.
The two dared not linger; they picked a direction based on feeling, with Xia Shaoxin leading the way.
The Bug Catcher's medicine was useless; drinking it and applying it didn't stop the itching.
Xia Shaoxin was quite lucky; while being chased by the Hundred-Legged Centipede, he had obtained a stalk of "earth spirit immortal mushroom grass" and sacrificed it to the Shangqing Profound Mirror; it had been a worthwhile trip.
There were five types of poisonous herbs in the Forbidden Ground, and he really wanted to get his hands on all of them.
Bringing the two Senior Brothers along was very cumbersome.
But he didn't dare to act alone. Compared to his life, no matter how precious the poisonous herbs were, they were not worth mentioning.
The two Senior Brothers didn't want to find any poisonous herbs at all; they only wanted to find the Pavilion.
As Xia Shaoxin led the way, his heart gave an inexplicable twitch, and he couldn't help but become alert; this was the innate keen sense of a Bug Catcher.
It seemed something was spying on him.
He immediately stopped, held his sword horizontally, and looked around.
"What's wrong?" the two Senior Brothers also quickly stopped and asked nervously.
"I sense danger," Xia Shaoxin frowned, his eyes scanning all directions, yet he didn't know from which direction the danger would come.
The ground suddenly shook.
"Run! There's something underground."
Just as Xia Shaoxin finished speaking, the entire ground overturned. A giant insect burrowed out of the ground; its mouth was as large as a sack, embedded with a ring of sharp teeth.
"What the heck is this?" Senior Brother Shao Junwei was stunned.
"This is called a Yellow Springs Demon Worm! You didn't listen carefully when Junior Sister Liu was reading that book!" Senior Brother Liang Ruoran shouted.
Xia Shaoxin had thought the two would draw their swords to fight, but to his surprise, both of them turned and bolted, so he had no choice but to follow.
The Yellow Springs Demon Worm rushed out of the ground, moving like a super-sized water pipe, wriggling across the ground and advancing rapidly.
This insect didn't like to move much; it lived underground and ambushed other creatures passing by.
Only when it received extreme stimulation would it burrow out of the ground to chase prey.
These human Cultivators were the greatest stimulation.
The three didn't dare to scatter. Senior Brother Shao Junwei was running in front when he suddenly let out a miserable scream: "Aiya!"
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran turned his head to look and saw that a vine had reached out from underground and coiled around Senior Brother Shao Junwei.
"Save me, save me—"
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran didn't even look back and ran around him to escape.
Xia Shaoxin, who was chasing from behind, was shocked to see this situation.
Taking advantage of the fact that the vine wasn't coiled tightly, he swung his sword to hack at it, but he couldn't cut the vine.
"Save me, Senior Brother Liang—"
Senior Brother Shao Junwei's shrill cries carried very far.
The Yellow Springs Demon Worm had also caught up. Xia Shaoxin realized that today was the day he would have to spend money.
He immediately took out a Thunderbolt Talisman, focused his mind, stared at the Demon Worm, quickly chanted the incantation, and threw it forward.
A thunderbolt descended from the sky and struck the Demon Worm's body.
"Brother, you've spent a fortune..."
Senior Brother Shao Junwei was very touched.
Just then, a loud yell came from behind.
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran, wielding his sword, rushed to the side of the Yellow Springs Demon Worm and thrust his sword forward.
The Demon Worm had been struck by the Thunderbolt Talisman and was paralyzed for a few seconds. This sword thrust went straight into its heart, and with a slash, the Demon Worm collapsed rapidly like a deflating balloon.
Taking this opportunity, Xia Shaoxin hacked fiercely at the vine.
The vine couldn't bear the pain, released Senior Brother Shao Junwei, and burrowed back underground.
Senior Brother Shao Junwei scrambled up, took a few steps back, and left the vine's sphere of influence.
"This damn thing must be growing nearby; I'll destroy it!" Senior Brother Shao Junwei roared, but he didn't actually take action.
"We cannot stay here long; let's go."
Senior Brother Liang Ruoran turned and left immediately, and Senior Brother Shao Junwei followed closely.
Xia Shaoxin stepped forward, touched the corpse of the Yellow Springs Demon Worm, and silently recited the Sacrificial Incantation.
It was indeed trash; the Shangqing Profound Mirror wouldn't accept it.
He hurriedly turned around to chase after the two Senior Brothers.
Fearing he would be left alone, Xia Shaoxin roared: "Wait for me!"
The two were also quite terrified and vanished from sight in the blink of an eye.
In his panic, Xia Shaoxin arrived at the edge of a pit. Upon closer inspection, he realized he had circled back to the place where the Yellow Springs Demon Worm had burrowed out of the ground!
But to his surprise, there seemed to be something in the pit.
