15: Chapter 15 The Injured Little Sable
In the afternoon, Yuan Chen took Yue Ying for a stroll around the city.
He had originally thought about inviting Luo Xinyi along as well.
But she was too exhausted and was still fast asleep, so Yuan Chen did not disturb her.
The two of them strolled through the streets.
Yue Ying was full of curiosity about everything on the streets.
Back on Guxia Island, life was nothing but cultivation, which was incredibly dull; the mortal realm was much more interesting.
Especially the mortal food—it tasted absolutely delicious.
Over the past few days, she had been accompanying Luo Li, never missing a single one of their three daily meals.
This was not just because she wanted to grow closer to her mother-in-law.
More than that, she genuinely loved to eat.
Those rare herbs and exotic plants had absolutely no flavor, tasting no different from plain water.
And Yuan Chen doted on her deeply.
Whatever caught her eye, he bought it for her.
As for where the money came from?
Luo Xinyi had given it to them.
The mortal realm mainly used silver, with Spirit Stones only being used on special occasions.
Yue Ying's beauty caused passerby after passerby to turn their heads.
There truly weren't many women with such a spiritual aura in the mortal realm.
Just as the two of them were strolling around,
three small black dots in the distant sky gradually approached the imperial city.
Yuan Chen looked up and glanced at them casually.
Then, he continued to accompany his wife on her stroll.
It was just another three Cultivators coming to help.
Mid-air.
An attractive young man called out to the middle-aged man ahead of him.
"Master, why did we come to the Great Yan Dynasty? I still think the Damo Dynasty has a better chance of winning."
Zhao Zhong turned his head and gave him a calm glance.
"We came this time only for you to undergo a trial and gain some experience. Winning or losing is not important."
"I know, but I still feel a bit uncomfortable about it,"
Li Tian said begrudgingly.
Zhao Zhong sighed and did not say anything more.
He was still a young man, after all, always wanting to win and show off.
Perhaps he felt that actually losing to his rivals would be too embarrassing!
However, Li Tian was the son of his good friend, and the two of them were only Master and Disciple in name, so it was not appropriate for him to say too much.
"Junior Sister, what do you think?"
Seeing that Zhao Zhong did not respond, Li Tian frowned in dissatisfaction and turned his gaze to Zhao Yaya.
He couldn't help but steal a glance at Zhao Zhong.
'If it weren't for your beautiful daughter, would this young Master have acknowledged a useless Master like you?'
'Isn't it just to have a head start by being close to her?'
Zhao Yaya wrinkled her delicate nose and turned her gaze away in dissatisfaction.
She had long been thoroughly sick of Li Tian.
But his father was, after all, a deacon of the Xuandu Sect, so she couldn't offend him too much.
Every time she faced his harassment, she could only pretend she hadn't heard.
Seeing that both of them ignored him, Li Tian began to mutter curses in dissatisfaction.
He hoped the Great Yan Dynasty wouldn't fail too miserably, or else he would lose face big time.
Every time a National War occurred, the Xuandu Sect would have its Disciples participate for a trial.
As for which faction to join, they could choose for themselves.
However, after the National War, the Sect would reward them accordingly based on each Disciple's performance.
What made Li Tian dissatisfied was that,
even if his individual performance was outstanding,
if his faction lost, the maximum reward he could get would still be inferior to that of the worst-performing participant on the winning side.
"You two go report to that old emperor first, I'm going to look around on my own,"
Li Tian said unhappily.
Zhao Zhong frowned, wanting to say something.
But seeing Li Tian's expression, he swallowed his words.
Strength determined everything.
The other party was his old friend's son.
But whether this old friend still truly regarded him as a friend was something he knew all too well.
It was better not to meddle in things he shouldn't.
As for what trouble he might cause, with his status as a member of the Xuandu Sect, nothing serious should happen.
Zhao Yaya, on the other hand, let out a sigh of relief.
This annoying pest was finally gone.
"Father, let's go register first!"
To join either side of the National War, one still needed the consent of the current emperor.
If the other party refused their participation,
they would not be allowed to enter the battlefield once the National War began.
At that time, the Xuandu Sect's law enforcement team would monitor the entire process.
Zhao Zhong nodded, and the two of them descended together toward the imperial palace.
As soon as Li Tian landed, he headed straight toward the brothel.
In the Sect, his father kept a tight rein on him, and furthermore, the female Cultivators focused all their thoughts on cultivation.
Playing around with them was not fun at all.
Mortal women were much sweeter and more delightful.
If it weren't for the Sect's regulations, he would have even thought about directly kidnapping women from respectable families.
Curling his lips secretly, he took a step inside the brothel.
"Call all the most beautiful girls in this establishment to me..."
On the other side,
Yuan Chen led Yue Ying to a street specially built for Cultivators, named Lingyun Street.
As soon as they entered the street, Yuan Chen felt the Spiritual Qi instantly become much denser.
It was likely due to some Spirit Gathering Array or something similar set up around the area.
Purchasing items here only accepted Spirit Stones.
Therefore, ordinary people were kept out.
Yuan Chen pulled Yue Ying along as they looked around; there were still plenty of strange and curious novelties.
However, the cultivation levels of the Cultivators coming and going around them were rather low.
Ninety percent of them were Innate Cultivators, with barely any Acquired ones.
Yuan Chen didn't expect to find anything good here either; he was only satisfying Yue Ying's curiosity.
Seeing a crowd gathered ahead, the two of them squeezed through out of curiosity to see what was happening.
"Ah, it really is a Yao, it already has a trace of spirituality."
"It just hasn't transformed yet. Just now, I thought it was just an ordinary beast!"
"If that's the case, one could buy it and give it a try. If its talent is a bit better, it might even become a mountain-guarding Yao Beast."
...
The murmuring of the crowd drifted into their ears.
Yuan Chen also followed their gazes and looked toward the iron cage in the center of the crowd.
He saw a pitiful little sable, covered in blood, huddling in the corner.
It was only the size of a palm, looking as though it had been captured not long after birth.
"Husband, it's so pitiful. Why don't we buy it?"
Looking at the whimpering little thing in the cage, Yue Ying immediately felt a wave of pity.
She hugged Yuan Chen's arm and pleaded.
Yuan Chen did not speak, first sizing up the little Purple Sable.
Though injured, it was still surrounded by Spiritual Qi.
It was clearly no ordinary beast.
After pondering for a moment, he was about to ask for the price.
Just then,
a voice rang out from the distance.
"Boss, how much is it? I'll take it!"
Yuan Chen looked toward the sound and saw a man slowly descending from mid-air.
Holding a folding fan, Li Tian landed gracefully in the midst of the crowd.
His gaze couldn't help but steal a glance at Yue Ying next to Yuan Chen.
He felt a secret surge of joy in his heart.
Just now, after coming out of the brothel, he had been wandering around aimlessly.
But when passing by Lingyun Street, he was drawn in by Yue Ying's temperament.
Even within the Sect, there weren't many women with such a spiritual aura.
It would truly be a pity not to step forward and get to know her.
Thus, he called out generously and landed slowly under the watchful eyes of the crowd.
