9: Chapter 9 Qingyun Cottage

Tianjian Peak, one of the seventy-two main peaks of the Qingyun mountain range, towered into the clouds. Its peak was as straight as a sword, shrouded in mist and clouds year-round, with sword light occasionally piercing the heavens. It was the Holy Land of the Sword Cultivator lineage of the Qingyun Sect.

At the southeastern foot of the peak lay a tranquil valley, where a clear stream gurgled and Spiritual Qi abounded. Nestled against the mountains and by the water sat an exquisite, elegant courtyard with white walls and dark tiles. Hanging above the lintel was a plaque inscribed with "Qingyun Cottage." The calligraphy was executed with sharp, silver-hook-like iron strokes, with faint Sword Intent emanating from it—it was personally inscribed by Peak Master Yue Lingyun of Tianjian Peak.

This was Lin Wan's new home.

At this moment, Lin Wan stood at the entrance of the small courtyard, looking at everything before him, still feeling somewhat like he was in another lifetime.

Three days ago, he was still living in that dilapidated shack in the Outer Sect, worrying about a few Low-Grade Spirit Stones and enduring the threats of Zhou Zihao and Deacon Zhao Kun. Three days later, he was already a True Disciple of the Peak Revered Master of Tianjian Peak, holding a Foundation Establishment Pill in his hand, moving into this B-grade Immortal Cave rich in Spiritual Qi, and even having a Golden Core Revered Master as his backer.

Qingyun Cottage covered an area of about five mu. The main courtyard featured a three-story bamboo building with flying eaves and upturned corners, elegant and unique. To the east and west were rows of side rooms, which could be used as guest rooms, alchemy rooms, or artifact rooms. Behind the courtyard were three mu of cultivated Spirit Fields with black soil and dense Spiritual Qi, already planted with some common Low Grade Spiritual Plants. A clear stream flowed in front of the courtyard, converging into a pond of about one mu, with crystal-clear water where Spirit Beasts swam. The entire courtyard was enveloped in a pale green light curtain—the built-in "Yi Wood Green Origin Formation," which combined defense, Qi gathering, and concealment, capable of withstanding short-term attacks from Cultivators at the early Foundation Establishment Stage.

Such an Immortal Cave was already a fairyland in the eyes of Outer Sect Disciples. Even ordinary Inner Sect Disciples would need to spend years completing Sect missions and spending massive amounts of contribution points to exchange for it. Yet, Lin Wan, due to his status as the champion of the Grand Tournament and a True Disciple, obtained it directly.

"Senior Brother, this... is so beautiful." Liu Ruyan, holding her bulging belly, stood beside Lin Wan, looking at the dreamlike courtyard before her, her eyes filled with surprise and a hint of trepidation. The leap in environment from the Outer Sect utility area to the Inner Sect spiritual land was too great, leaving her somewhat overwhelmed.

Xiao Yun's mouth was wide open, her eyes fixed, and it took her a long while to mutter, "Big Brother Lin, is this... really our home from now on?"

"Mm, this is our home from now on." Lin Wan held Liu Ruyan's hand and patted Xiao Yun's shoulder, saying gently, "Let's go in and take a look."

Pushing open the courtyard gate, fresh and dense Spiritual Qi rushed towards them, invigorating their spirits. The courtyard was paved with smooth bluestone, and in the corners were planted a few clusters of emerald bamboo, the dancing bamboo shadows adding to the tranquility. The furnishings in the main building were simple, but all the furniture and utensils were made of Spirit Wood and Spirit Jade, which had the effect of calming the mind and assisting in Cultivation. The Cultivation meditation room, living room, study, and reception hall were all fully equipped.

"The east side room can be used as an alchemy room and talisman room, and the west side room can be used for Xiao Hu and the servants to live in." Lin Wan planned, "As for the Spirit Fields in the backyard, Ruyan, you can try to manage them and plant some common Spiritual Plants. The Spirit Fish in the pond can also be caught regularly to replenish Qi and blood."

"Mm!" Liu Ruyan nodded, stroking her lower abdomen, her face radiating happiness. Being able to nurture her baby and Cultivate in such a fairyland-like place was something she never dared to dream of before.

Xiao Yun also ran around excitedly, touching this and looking at that, already starting to plan how to decorate the rooms and open up a vegetable garden.

As the three were talking, a respectful voice came from outside the courtyard: "Is Senior Brother Lin in? This Disciple has come under orders."

Lin Wan walked out of the main building and saw two young Disciples standing outside the courtyard gate. One was about fifteen or sixteen years old, wearing a gray Outer Sect Utility Disciple uniform, with an honest face and clear eyes; his cultivation was at the second level of Qi Refining. The other was a woman in her thirties with an ordinary face and shrewd eyes, also at the second level of Qi Refining, and judging by her attire, she seemed skilled in managing household affairs.

"Who are you?" Lin Wan asked.

"Reporting to Senior Brother Lin, this Disciple is Wang Tiezhu, a Utility Disciple assigned to Qingyun Cottage by the Deacon Hall, responsible for managing the Spirit Fields, feeding Spirit Beasts, maintaining the Formation, and other heavy tasks." The honest-looking youth hurriedly saluted.

"This servant is Nanny Zhao, also assigned by the Deacon Hall. I am skilled in preparing Spirit Meals, sewing and laundry, and taking care of household affairs." The woman also gave a graceful bow, her attitude respectful.

Lin Wan nodded. These should be the two servants Elder Xuan Zhenzi had promised. His Divine Sense swept over them; their Auras were calm, with nothing unusual, and their cultivation was low, making them easy to control.

"Since that is the case, you may stay. Wang Tiezhu, in the future, you will be responsible for the Spirit Fields, the pond, and the chores outside the courtyard. Nanny Zhao, you are responsible for the food and daily life in the courtyard and taking good care of Madam Liu." Lin Wan instructed, "Work diligently, and I will naturally not treat you unfairly. But if you dare to have any ulterior motives or leak any information about this place, do not blame me for not observing our fellowship."

The last sentence carried a trace of the pressure of the Great Perfection of Qi Refining.

The two immediately felt the pressure and hurriedly bowed: "This Disciple (this servant) will definitely do my best and would never dare to have any disloyalty!"

"Mm. Wang Tiezhu, go and familiarize yourself with the Spirit Fields. Nanny Zhao, go and prepare lunch first; make some light and nourishing Spirit Meals. Madam Liu is pregnant and needs to be taken care of carefully." Lin Wan waved his hand.

"Yes!" The two responded and retreated.

After making the arrangements, Lin Wan took Liu Ruyan and Xiao Yun to the top floor of the main building and chose the largest bedroom as the Revered Master bedroom. Pushing open the window, it faced the bamboo forest behind the mountain, where the Spiritual Qi was the most dense, and the scenery was excellent.

"Ruyan, you will live here from now on and rest assured to nurture the baby. Xiao Yun, you live next door so you can take care of her." Lin Wan said.

"Mm." Liu Ruyan snuggled into Lin Wan's arms, feeling the movement of the fetus in her belly, and said softly, "Senior Brother, the child seems to know we have moved to a new home; it is moving especially happily today."

Lin Wan gently placed his palm on her belly and could clearly feel the vitality of that little life inside, as well as the increasingly clear golden, blue, and green three-colored spiritual light. Under the nourishment of the dense Spiritual Qi in Qingyun Cottage, the fetus's Innate Qi seemed to be even stronger.

"System, bring up the offspring information." Lin Wan thought silently.

[Offspring: Lin Qingyao (Unnamed, in gestation)]

[Mother: Liu Ruyan]

[Current Status: Healthy, developing well]

[Estimated Aptitude: Medium Grade Three Spiritual Root (Gold, Water, Wood)]

[Innate Bonus: Offspring's Innate Aptitude slightly improved (already effective), mother's Spiritual Root slightly improved, environmental Spiritual Qi nourishment]

[Estimated birth time: About two months later]

Medium Grade Three Spiritual Root! And because of the Innate Aptitude improvement and Spiritual Qi nourishment, the quality seemed to be slowly optimizing! Lin Wan was overjoyed. This child's Aptitude was already comparable to that of an ordinary Inner Sect Disciple, and the future was promising.

"Senior Brother, have you thought of a name for the child?" Liu Ruyan asked softly.

"If it's a boy, we'll call him Lin Jingyun, meaning outstanding talent, soaring straight into the blue clouds. If it's a girl..." Lin Wan looked at Liu Ruyan's beautiful and refined face, then thought of the three-colored spiritual light in her belly, and smiled, "Then let's call her Lin Qingyao, as beautiful as you, and as gentle as jade."

"Lin Qingyao... what a good name." Liu Ruyan whispered, her eyes full of tenderness.

Xiao Yun watched from the side, her eyes filled with both envy and blessings. She touched her own still-flat belly and secretly made up her mind that she must restore her health as soon as possible and give birth to a healthy child for Big Brother Lin as well.

Lunch was prepared by Nanny Zhao, four dishes and one soup, all made with Low Grade Spiritual Plants and Spirit Beast meat. Although not luxurious, the combination was reasonable, the taste was delicious, and it contained mild Spiritual Qi, which was beneficial to both pregnant women and Cultivators. Liu Ruyan's appetite was greatly stimulated, and she ate an extra half bowl of Spirit Rice.

After the meal, Lin Wan set up a soundproofing Formation in the meditation room and began to take stock of the gains from this Grand Tournament.

First was the material reward:

Two Foundation Establishment Pills (one rewarded from the Grand Tournament, one gifted by Liu Ming). This was the key to breaking through to the Foundation Establishment Stage, and it was priceless.

Contribution points: 10,000 for the Grand Tournament champion, 1,000 per month for True Disciples, currently totaling 11,000 points. They could be used in the Inner Sect to exchange for Cultivation Techniques, Medicinal Pills, Materials, access to Secret Realms, etc.

Low-Grade Spirit Stones: From the Grand Tournament reward, previous savings, plus the monthly allowance for True Disciples, there were currently about 3,000. This could be considered a considerable fortune.

Magical Artifact: Need to go to the "Tiangong Pavilion" to choose a top-grade Magical Artifact. Lin Wan already had an inclination in his heart—a Flying Sword suitable for performing the five elements sword Art, or an auxiliary Magical Artifact for defense or trapping enemies.

Cultivation Technique and Spell access: Can enter the second floor of the Scripture Pavilion to select a Yellow Rank High Grade Cultivation Technique or Spell. He already had the "Little Five Elements Sword Technique" and was not lacking in attack methods for the time being. Perhaps he could choose a profound movement technique, escape technique, or a method for Spirit Refining or Body Refining.

Secondly, connections and status:

Revered Master Peak Master Yue Lingyun, a Mid-stage Golden Core Sword Cultivator, Peak Revered Master of Tianjian Peak, and an influential Elder of the Sect. With this backer, as long as he did not commit the crime of betraying the Sect, he could basically walk sideways in the Inner Sect. People like Zhao Kun were no longer to be feared.

Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters: There were originally six True Disciples under Peak Master Yue Lingyun. The First Senior Brother, Second Senior Brother, and Third Senior Sister had already reached the Foundation Establishment Stage, while the Fourth Senior Brother, Fifth Senior Sister, and Sixth Senior Brother were at the Great Perfection of Qi Refining. He was ranked seventh. He still needed to find an Opportunity to pay his respects, understand their temperaments, and avoid unnecessary conflicts.

Inner Sect interpersonal relationships: Still need to be managed slowly. People like Shi Yong and Lu Ming, whom he met during the Grand Tournament, had also entered the Inner Sect, which could be considered initial connections.

Finally, and most importantly, were the System rewards.

During the Grand Tournament, he won battle after battle, especially by defeating strong enemies and winning the championship, which should have triggered quite a few rewards.

"System, bring up unclaimed rewards." Lin Wan thought silently.

[Ding! Detected that the host has achieved the achievement "Outer Sect Champion", received Fate Points: 5000 points!]

[Ding! Detected that the host has defeated strong opponents: Zhou Zihao, Blood Hand, Lu Ming, Yue Shan, Ghost Shadow, Shi Yong... Based on the opponents' strength, accumulated Fate Points: 3800 points!]

[Ding! Detected that the host has become a Disciple of an Immortal Master at the Golden Core stage, status improved, received Fate Points: 2000 points! Received special rewards: "Breath Concealment Technique (High Grade)" × 1, "Disguise Technique (Medium Grade)" × 1.]

[Ding! Detected that the host has moved into a B-grade Immortal Cave, Family Foundation is stable, received Fate Points: 1000 points! Received special rewards: Primary Spiritual Plant Cultivation Insights × 1, Primary Spirit Beast Taming Insights × 1.]

[Current total Fate Points: 11800 points!]

Lin Wan's breath hitched.

11,800 points! An unprecedented huge sum!

Sure enough, improving strength, leaping in status, and defeating strong enemies were the fastest ways to obtain Fate Points! With these Fate Points, he could exchange for many good things in the System Mall to quickly improve his and his Family's strength.

He immediately opened the System Mall and filtered for items urgently needed at the moment.

["Little Five Elements Sword Technique" Second Layer (Foundation Establishment Chapter): Requires 3000 Fate Points.]

["Yin-Yang Harmony Guidance Technique" Third Layer (Foundation Establishment Chapter): Requires 2500 Fate Points.]

[First-Grade Top-Grade Flying Sword "five elements sword" (Growable): Requires 5000 Fate Points.]

[First-Grade Top-Grade Defensive Robe "Qingyun Robe": Requires 3000 Fate Points.]

[Foundation Establishment Pill (Perfect Quality): Requires 2000 Fate Points.]

[Low Grade Spiritual Root Aptitude improvement Opportunity (Limited to Qi Refinement Stage): Requires 5000 Fate Points.]

[Medium Grade Spiritual Root Aptitude improvement Opportunity (Limited to Qi Refinement Stage): Requires 15000 Fate Points.]

[Random Bloodline Awakening Opportunity (Low Grade): Requires 10000 Fate Points.]

Dazzling and overwhelming.

Lin Wan carefully considered. The current primary task is to prepare for Foundation Establishment. He already possessed two Foundation Establishment Pills (the competition reward was of ordinary quality, while the one gifted by Liu Ming was of Third-Turn quality), but the higher the quality of the Foundation Establishment Pill, the higher the success rate of Foundation Establishment, and the more stable the Foundation. A Perfect Grade Foundation Establishment Pill was worth acquiring.

The second level of the Little Five Elements Sword Technique is the Foundation Establishment chapter and must be exchanged for; otherwise, there would be no subsequent Cultivation Technique after Foundation Establishment. The third level of the Yin-Yang Harmony Guidance Technique is equally important, as it concerns Dual Cultivation efficiency and his own Foundation.

The five elements sword and the Qingyun Dharma Robe are top-tier Magical Artifacts that could significantly boost combat power, but they are expensive.

As for improving Spiritual Root Aptitude... Liu Ruyan's Spiritual Root is weak; if it could be improved, it would be of immense benefit to her and their future offspring. However, an Opportunity to improve a Low Grade Spiritual Root costs five thousand points, and a Medium Grade one costs fifteen thousand, which he cannot afford for the time being.

The Opportunity for Bloodline Awakening is even more expensive, and since it is unknown what kind of Bloodline might be awakened, risks and opportunities coexist.

After much deliberation, Lin Wan made his choice.

"Exchange for the second level of the Little Five Elements Sword Technique, the third level of the Yin-Yang Harmony Guidance Technique, and a Foundation Establishment Pill (Perfect Grade)."

[Consumed 3000 + 2500 + 2000 = 7500 Fortune Points, exchange successful. Remaining Fortune Points: 4300 points.]

Three Jade Slips and a Perfect Grade Foundation Establishment Pill, the size of a dragon's eye, perfectly round, with nine apertures, and faintly wreathed in clouds and mist, appeared in his hand. The phenomena and medicinal fragrance of the Perfect Grade Foundation Establishment Pill far surpassed the previous two, causing Lin Wan's mind to sway.

He carefully put away the Foundation Establishment Pill and pressed the two Jade Slips against his forehead, and a vast amount of information surged into his mind.

The second level of the Little Five Elements Sword Technique corresponds to cultivation during the Foundation Establishment Stage. It requires using the liquid Spiritual Qi of the Foundation Establishment Stage to condense more pure and agile five elements sword qi, which can then be initially released to transform into sword light to kill enemies. Once cultivated to Major Achievement, one can deploy the "Little five elements sword Array," which integrates both offense and defense with infinite power. It also records the rudimentary forms of several Five Elements Divine Abilities that can only be cultivated during the Foundation Establishment Stage, such as "Geng Metal Divine Thunder," "Yi Wood Divine Light," and "Gui Water Divine Escape," which left Lin Wan yearning for them.

The third level of the Yin-Yang Harmony Guidance Technique is equally profound. After Foundation Establishment, the Yin and Yang qi within the body can be initially released to engage in spiritual communion with a Dao Companion, which not only improves Dual Cultivation efficiency but also nourishes the Divine Soul. It even allows for the use of some simple Yin-Yang secret techniques, such as "Yin-Yang Blinding" (interfering with Divine Sense) and "Harmony Brings Wealth" (slightly increasing the absorption speed of Spiritual Qi).

After digesting the information on the Cultivation Technique, Lin Wan's path after Foundation Establishment became even clearer.

He still had 4300 Fortune Points left, so he decided to save them for now. After Liu Ruyan gives birth, he would see the final Aptitude of his offspring and the System rewards before deciding whether to improve the Spiritual Root or exchange for other resources.

Putting away these thoughts, Lin Wan walked out of the silent room.

Liu Ruyan was walking in the courtyard, accompanied by Nanny Zhao, adapting to the new environment. Xiao Yun was by the spiritual field with Wang Tiezhu, listening to him introduce the habits and care methods of various Spiritual Plants.

Seeing Lin Wan come out, Liu Ruyan stepped forward to greet him: "Senior Brother, are you done with your tasks?"

"Yes." Lin Wan nodded, took out the Perfect Grade Foundation Establishment Pill, and handed it to Liu Ruyan, "The quality of this Foundation Establishment Pill is excellent; keep it safe. Use it when you reach the Perfection of the Qi Refining Stage and attempt Foundation Establishment."

The medicinal fragrance of the Perfect Grade Foundation Establishment Pill was restrained, but Liu Ruyan could still feel the vast and pure Spiritual Qi within it. She said in surprise: "This... this is too precious. Senior Brother, you should keep it for yourself..."

"I already have two, which is enough. I will only be at ease if this one is with you." Lin Wan spoke in an unquestionable tone, "Although your Spiritual Root has improved, Foundation Establishment is still a difficult barrier. With the help of this pill, the success rate can be greatly increased. This is also for the sake of our child."

Liu Ruyan's eyes reddened slightly. She no longer declined, carefully put away the pill, and said softly: "Thank you, Senior Brother. Ruyan will definitely work hard and not live up to Senior Brother's high expectations."

"By the way, tomorrow I must go to Lingyun Hall on Tianjian Peak to perform the apprenticeship ceremony and listen to Revered Master's teachings. I may need a day or two to return. Be careful with everything while at home. If there is an emergency, you can contact me using a communication talisman. Nanny Zhao and Wang Tiezhu, you must also look after them carefully," Lin Wan instructed.

"Rest assured, Senior Brother, we will wait for your return." Liu Ruyan nodded.

Xiao Yun also ran over: "Big Brother Lin, I will take good care of Sister Ruyan!"

That night, Qingyun Cottage was quiet.

In the Revered Master bedroom, Lin Wan and Liu Ruyan lay in each other's arms. Although Liu Ruyan was pregnant and it was inconvenient to engage in intercourse, the two still followed the method of the Yin-Yang Harmony Guidance Technique, pressing their palms together, allowing their Spiritual Qi to merge, and engaging in the most basic form of "spiritual communion."

The Yin and Yang qi circulated within their bodies. Lin Wan's pure Spiritual Qi from the Perfection of the Qi Refining Stage nourished Liu Ruyan's body and the fetus in her womb like a hot spring. Under the flushing of this Spiritual Qi and the harmony of Yin and Yang, Liu Ruyan's weak Spiritual Root seemed to become a bit more active. Lin Qingyao in the womb also seemed to feel the Aura of her parents and quieted down, with three-colored spiritual light flickering slightly as she absorbed the dissipated Spiritual Qi.

[Dao Companion Liu Ruyan gains "Yin-Yang Nourishment," Spiritual Root slightly improved, cultivation speed increased. Gained Fortune Points: 50 points.]

[Offspring Lin Qingyao gains "Innate Fetal Breath," Aptitude slightly optimized. Gained Fortune Points: 20 points.]

Although it was not much, the advantage lay in its continuity. Moreover, this slow and steady effort provided real benefits to Liu Ruyan and the fetus.

The next morning, Lin Wan put on the brand-new attire of a True Disciple of Tianjian Peak—a silver-white martial outfit with pale gold sword patterns embroidered on the cuffs and lapels, and a True Disciple token hanging at his waist, making him look heroic, handsome, and outstanding in temperament.

"I am leaving." Lin Wan nodded to Liu Ruyan and Xiao Yun who had seen him to the door, gave a few more instructions to Nanny Zhao and Wang Tiezhu, and then rose into the wind, flying towards the main peak of Tianjian Peak.

Having advanced to the Perfection of the Qi Refining Stage, coupled with the "Floating Light Sweeping Shadow" movement technique, he could now glide on the wind for short distances, and his speed was not slow.

Tianjian Peak was several thousand zhang high; the higher one went, the denser the Spiritual Qi and the greater the pressure. Above the mountainside, there was a flight Restriction Formation, and no one below the Foundation Establishment Stage or without a special token could fly. Lin Wan landed as he approached the main peak and walked up along the winding bluestone mountain path.

Along the way, he met many Disciples of Tianjian Peak, both Inner Sect Disciples and Outer Sect Disciples (Outer Sect Disciples affiliated with Tianjian Peak). Seeing his True Disciple attire, they all cast sidelong glances, looking at him with curiosity, envy, and even jealousy. Those who recognized him as Lin Wan, the champion of this year's Grand Competition, whispered among themselves.

"Is that Lin Wan? The champion of the Grand Competition, the new True Disciple taken in by Grandmaster Yue?"

"So young! I heard he's only seventeen!"

"Perfection of the Qi Refining Stage? His Aura is so condensed; he is truly a fierce person capable of defeating Senior Brother Shi Yong."

"He will be our Junior Martial Uncle from now on, so we must be respectful."

Lin Wan's expression was calm, seemingly unaware of everyone's gazes and discussions, as he climbed the mountain at a steady pace. About half an hour later, he arrived at a huge white stone square. At the end of the square stood a majestic palace, built entirely of green jade, shimmering with a cold luster in the sunlight. A plaque with the three words "Lingyun Hall" written in vigorous, sweeping calligraphy hung above the lintel; it was the main hall of Tianjian Peak.

In front of the hall, a young man of about thirty years old, dressed in the attire of an Inner Sect Disciple with a refined appearance, was waiting. Seeing Lin Wan, the young man smiled and stepped forward: "Are you Junior Brother Lin Wan? I am Xu Feng, the fourth Disciple of Revered Master Yue. I am here to welcome you on Revered Master's orders."

"Lin Wan has met Senior Brother Xu." Lin Wan cupped his hands in greeting. This Senior Brother Xu had a steady Aura and was already at the Perfection of the Qi Refining Stage, with a solid Foundation; he was likely only one step away from Foundation Establishment.

"Junior Brother, there is no need for such formalities. Revered Master and several Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters are already waiting inside the hall; come with me." Xu Feng's attitude was gentle as he led Lin Wan into Lingyun Hall.

The interior of the main hall was exceptionally spacious, ten zhang high, and supported by twelve jade pillars carved with coiling dragons. The floor was paved with mirror-like obsidian, and the dome was inlaid with countless night-luminescent pearls, shining brightly. At this moment, at the head of the hall, Peak Master Yue Lingyun, dressed in a green robe, sat casually in the main seat, sipping tea. Five people were seated on both sides below.

Three people on the left: The first seat was a young man in a purple robe with a cold expression and an unfathomable Aura like an abyss, who should be the Foundation Establishment Senior Brother. The second seat was a woman in a goose-yellow dress, beautiful in appearance but with a hint of heroism between her brows, who was the Second Senior Sister. The third was a tall and sturdy man with a full beard and a wild Aura, who was the Third Senior Brother.

Two people on the right: The first seat was a young man with a feminine temperament, a pale face, and playing with a jade thumb ring, who was the Fifth Senior Brother. The second seat was a woman in red, beautiful and charming, with alluring eyes, who was the Sixth Senior Sister.

Including Xu Feng who led the way, the six True Disciples under Peak Master Yue Lingyun were all present.

"Disciple Lin Wan pays respects to Revered Master, and pays respects to all Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters." Lin Wan stepped forward, bowed deeply to Peak Master Yue Lingyun, and then cupped his hands to everyone on both sides.

"Hmm, rise." Peak Master Yue Lingyun put down his teacup, his gaze sweeping over Lin Wan, and he nodded with satisfaction, "Not bad, the Foundation is stable, the Aura is condensed, and you have not become impetuous due to sudden success. It seems I have not misjudged you."

"Thank you for the praise, Revered Master." Lin Wan stood up and stood with his hands down.

"Since you have entered my Sect, there are some rules that need to be explained to you." Peak Master Yue Lingyun's expression became serious, "My Tianjian Peak lineage values Sword Intent above all else. Only with a clear Sword Intent can one's Dao of the Sword be unobstructed. For the Sect rules and regulations, go to the Deacon Hall to receive the Jade Slip and read it carefully. I will only mention three points: First, you must not betray the Sect; second, you must not harm your fellow Disciples; third, you must not tarnish the reputation of my Tianjian Peak. As for other minor matters, handle them yourself."

"Disciple will keep this in mind." Lin Wan replied.

"Since you are a True Disciple, you should have the responsibilities of a True Disciple. You must complete one Sect task each month or make corresponding contributions to the peak. Cultivation resources, excluding the monthly allowance, must be exchanged with contribution points or merits. If you have any difficulties, you can come to ask me or consult your Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters," Peak Master Yue Lingyun added, "Of course, if anyone who lacks eyes dares to bully you, report the name of my Tianjian Peak, or come directly to find me."

These words were blatantly protective. The Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters on both sides had varied expressions; the First Senior Brother was expressionless, the Second Senior Sister's mouth curled slightly, the Third Senior Brother grinned, a trace of gloom flashed in the Fifth Senior Brother's eyes, and the Sixth Senior Sister looked at Lin Wan curiously.

"Thank you for your protection, Revered Master." Lin Wan felt a warmth in his heart.

"Alright, greet your Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters." Peak Master Yue Lingyun waved his hand.

Lin Wan bowed to everyone again: "Lin Wan has met First Senior Brother, Second Senior Sister, Third Senior Brother, Fourth Senior Brother, Fifth Senior Brother, and Sixth Senior Sister. I am new to the Sect and do not understand many things; in the future, I hope you will all provide guidance."

"Junior Brother, no need for formalities." The First Senior Brother's voice was cold, and he only nodded slightly.

"Junior Brother is indeed talented and handsome; no wonder you could catch Revered Master's eye." The Second Senior Sister chuckled, her voice crisp.

"Haha, Junior Brother, let's spar when you have time! I heard your fists are quite hard?" The Third Senior Brother's voice was loud.

"Junior Brother, greetings." The Fourth Senior Brother, Xu Feng, smiled and returned the greeting.

"Junior Brother, we are Family from now on." The Fifth Senior Brother said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"Junior Brother, if you have any questions about cultivation in the future, you can come find Sister~" The Sixth Senior Sister's eyes shifted, her voice charming.

Lin Wan responded to each one, neither humble nor pushy, leaving a good first impression on everyone.

"Lin Wan, since you have already been apprenticed, I will impart to you the Foundation Establishment chapter of the 'Qingyun Sword Canon.' This is the fundamental sword technique of my Tianjian Peak, pointing directly to the Golden Core Great Dao. Study it carefully, and if there is anything you do not understand, you can come and ask me." Peak Master Yue Lingyun flicked his finger, and a cyan Jade Slip flew toward Lin Wan.

Lin Wan took it with both hands: "Thank you, Revered Master, for imparting the technique."

"In addition, since you have comprehended the five elements sword Qi, it may be used to verify against the 'Great Five Elements Sword Art'. However, you must remember that for Cultivation Techniques, quality is more important than quantity. Do not be greedy and bite off more than you can chew, or you will disrupt your Foundation." Peak Master Yue Lingyun advised.

"Disciple understands." Lin Wan nodded. He had the System for assistance, which gave him an advantage in fusing and comprehending Cultivation Techniques, but Revered Master's reminder was very pertinent.

"Very well, that is all for today. Xu Feng, take your Junior Brother to handle all the procedures for a True Disciple, and collect his identity token, clothing, the Jade Slip for controlling the Immortal Cave Formation, and so on. Also, take him to the outer perimeter of the 'Sword Tomb' to have a look. If he is fated, he might obtain a good sword." Peak Master Yue Lingyun instructed.

"Yes, Revered Master." Xu Feng acknowledged the order.

"Disciple will withdraw." Lin Wan bowed and exited Lingyun Hall together with Xu Feng.

Walking out of the main hall, Xu Feng smiled and said: "Junior Brother, let's go. I will take you to the Deacon Hall first. The Sword Tomb is located in the back mountain, and one must hold a special token to enter the outer perimeter; I will apply for one for you later."

"Sorry to trouble you, Fourth Senior Brother." Lin Wan thanked him.

The two chatted as they walked. Xu Feng had a gentle personality and took good care of this newly initiated Junior Brother, briefly informing him about some of the situations, precautions, and interpersonal relationships on Tianjian Peak.

"The First Senior Brother's surname is Han, his name is Lingtian, and he is at the Middle Stage of the Foundation Establishment Stage. He has a cold temperament but is fair and places the greatest importance on rules. Second Senior Sister Su Qing is at the Early Stage of the Foundation Establishment Stage and is an Alchemist. She is in charge of some of the Medicinal Pill affairs within the peak; she is a good person, just sometimes a bit too serious. Third Senior Brother Lei Meng is at the Early Stage of the Foundation Establishment Stage, a Body Refining fanatic, and the most warlike, but he has no ill intentions."

"Fifth Senior Brother Zhao Yuan is at the Great Perfection of the Qi Refinement Stage and is skilled in Formations and talisman making. His thoughts... are somewhat deep; keep an eye out when you interact with him. Sixth Senior Sister Qin Hongyu is at the Great Perfection of the Qi Refinement Stage and practices charm techniques and illusion techniques. She has a wide social circle and is well-informed, but do not be easily deceived by her appearance."

"As for me, I am a few years older and have no hope of Foundation Establishment, so I help Revered Master manage some miscellaneous affairs on the peak. If you have any trifles in the future, Junior Brother, you can come to me."

Lin Wan listened carefully and kept this information in his heart. Wherever there are people, there is Jianghu, and Tianjian Peak was no exception. The various Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters had vastly different personalities and needed to be treated differently.

While talking, they arrived at the Deacon Hall. With Xu Feng leading the way, the procedures were handled extremely smoothly. Lin Wan received the complete set of identity items for a True Disciple: a Jade Slip that allowed free access to most Inner Sect areas, a token for recording contribution points and Sect missions, a core Jade Slip for controlling the Formation of Qingyun Cottage, and several sets of True Disciple clothing for different occasions.

Afterwards, Xu Feng took him to the "Baibao Pavilion" to select a High Grade Magical Artifact using the authority granted by the grand competition reward.

There were many treasures in the Baibao Pavilion, dazzling to the eyes. Lin Wan finally chose a First-Rank High Grade Flying Sword named "Liuguang". This sword was about three feet long, silvery-white all over, with a slender blade. It was extremely light in the hand, yet incomparably sharp, and had good conductivity for Five Elements Spiritual Qi, which was perfect for executing the five elements sword Art. The blade came with a "Liuguang" special effect; when executed, the sword light flowed like water, which could confuse the enemy's line of sight, and it also possessed certain concealment and acceleration capabilities.

"Good eye." Xu Feng praised, "This 'Liuguang Sword' is one of the few High Grade Flying Swords treasured by the Baibao Pavilion. It is light, agile, and versatile, which fits your style perfectly, Junior Brother."

Lin Wan was also very satisfied. With this sword, his combat power could increase by more than thirty percent.

Finally, Xu Feng took him to a secluded valley at the back of Tianjian Peak. The entrance to the valley was sealed by a Formation, guarded by two Foundation Establishment Stage Deacons with fierce Auras. Xu Feng showed his token and explained their purpose before they were allowed to pass.

Walking into the valley, the scene before his eyes gave Lin Wan a shock.

He saw that the valley was filled with countless swords! There were complete ones, broken ones, rusty ones, and ones radiating cold light. Long swords, short swords, heavy swords, soft swords, wooden swords, stone swords... they were of various shapes and different Materials, densely packed, stretching as far as the eye could see. A desolate, sorrowful, yet hidden infinite sharpness Sword Intent permeated the entire valley.

This was the Tianjian Peak "Sword Tomb", the final resting place for the personal swords of generations of Tianjian Peak Disciples and Elders. It was also a place where some Seniors, after passing away, sealed their own Sword Intent and Legacy within their personal swords, waiting for those with affinity.

"The Sword Tomb is divided into three layers: the outer perimeter, the inner perimeter, and the core. The outer perimeter mostly contains the personal swords of Seniors at the Qi Refinement and Foundation Establishment Stages, and may contain residual Sword Intent or insights into sword moves. The inner perimeter contains the personal swords of Golden Core Immortal Masters, and may even have the rudiments of a Sword Spirit. The core... cannot be entered without the Nascent Soul Stage." Xu Feng explained, "New True Disciples have one Opportunity to enter the outer perimeter for enlightenment, lasting for three days. Whether you can gain anything depends on your Opportunity and comprehension of the Sword Dao."

He handed Lin Wan a sword-shaped Jade Slip: "Hold this token to move freely in the outer perimeter. After three days, the Jade Slip will automatically teleport you out. Remember, do not force things, and do not attempt to enter the inner perimeter, otherwise, you will trigger the Restrictions; at best, you will be severely injured, and at worst, you will suffer Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering."

"Thank you, Senior Brother, I understand." Lin Wan took the Jade Slip, took a deep breath, and stepped into the boundless sword forest.

Once inside the sword forest, that vast Sword Intent became even clearer. It felt as if countless gazes were falling upon him, scrutinizing and whispering. Under his feet was soft soil mixed with metal fragments. The surroundings were silent, with only the faint whimpering of the wind blowing across the sword blades, like ten thousand swords humming softly.

Lin Wan did not go deeper immediately but sat cross-legged, released his Divine Sense, and carefully comprehended the complex yet pure Sword Intent around him.

The sharpness of Metal, the vitality of Wood, the persistence of Water, the violence of Fire, the heaviness of Earth... all five elements sword Intents were present, yet they were not limited to the Five Elements. There were swords of slaughter, swords of protection, swords of freedom, and swords of persistence... Every sword had once carried the belief, path, and even the entire life of a Sword Cultivator.

Lin Wan immersed himself in this ocean of Sword Intent, and the "Little Five Elements Sword Technique" within him spontaneously operated, with the four types of Sword Qi resonating slightly. He seemed to see scenes of countless Sword Cultivators practicing the sword, comprehending the sword, fighting with the sword, and burying the sword, and his understanding of the "Sword" was rapidly improving.

Time passed quietly. One day, two days...

On the evening of the third day, Lin Wan walked to the depths of the sword forest. In front of him, a bladeless heavy sword that was pitch-black, archaic in shape, with several cracks on the blade, yet still stood straight in the ground, caught his attention.

This sword did not have the sharp Sword Intent of other swords; instead, it had a feeling of silence, heaviness, and inclusiveness of all things. However, the four types of Sword Qi in Lin Wan's body became exceptionally active when approaching this sword, as if they had encountered their own kind.

He walked to the heavy sword, reached out, and gently touched the blade. Hum—!

The heavy sword trembled slightly, and a vast, pure, upright, and peaceful five elements sword Qi surged into his body through Lin Wan's finger! At the same time, a piece of incomplete Cultivation Technique information was directly imprinted in his mind.

The "Great Five Elements Sword Art" General Outline Fragment, and the Five Elements Foundation Establishment insights!

Lin Wan's whole body trembled violently, and an incredible brilliance erupted in his eyes.

Great Five Elements Sword Art! Just by the name, it was deeper and more complete than the "Little Five Elements Sword Technique"! And these Five Elements Foundation Establishment insights detailed how to use Five Elements Spiritual Qi as a base to construct the most stable and potential-filled Dao Foundation, laying an supreme Foundation for future condensation of the Golden Core!

This Opportunity was too great!

However, before he could examine it carefully, the heavy sword made a "crack" sound, completely shattered, turned into a pile of iron filings, and dissipated with the wind. It was as if it had completed its final mission.

Lin Wan bowed solemnly towards the place where the iron filings dissipated. The Senior who owned this sword must have been an incredible five elements sword Cultivator, who sealed the Legacy within the sword before passing away, waiting for someone with affinity. He noted this favor.

At this moment, the three-day period had arrived. The sword-shaped Jade Slip flashed with light, and Lin Wan's figure disappeared from the Sword Tomb.

When he reappeared, he was already at the entrance of the Sword Tomb.

Xu Feng was still waiting. Seeing Lin Wan come out, his eyes lit up: "Junior Brother, it seems you have gained quite a lot; your eyes have become much sharper."

"I have had some slight insights. Thank you, Senior Brother, for protecting me." Lin Wan cupped his hands. What he obtained in the Sword Tomb was of great importance, and he did not intend to reveal it for the time being.

"It is good that you have gained something. Let's go, Revered Master is still waiting for us." Xu Feng smiled.

The two returned to Lingyun Hall. Peak Master Yue Lingyun saw that Lin Wan's Aura was more condensed and there was faint sword light in his eyes, so he nodded with satisfaction: "Not bad, it seems that the trip to the Sword Tomb has been quite beneficial to you. This is a good thing. Go back and properly digest what you have gained, and prepare for the Foundation Establishment matters. All resources needed for Foundation Establishment can be exchanged with contribution points or obtained by completing Sect missions. If you have any difficulties, you can come at any time."

"Yes, Revered Master. Disciple will withdraw." Lin Wan bowed and exited.

Leaving Tianjian Peak, Lin Wan rode the wind back to Qingyun Cottage.

Liu Ruyan and Xiao Yun breathed a sigh of relief when they saw him return safely. Lin Wan briefly talked about his apprenticeship and the experiences in the Sword Tomb (omitting the Great Five Elements Sword Art), and then entered the quiet room again for closed-door cultivation.

He needed time to digest what he had obtained in the Sword Tomb, especially the fragment of the "Great Five Elements Sword Art" General Outline and the Five Elements Foundation Establishment insights.

"Five Elements Foundation Establishment, using Five Elements Spiritual Qi to construct a circular Dao Foundation, mutually generating and overcoming, forming a world of its own. Such a Dao Foundation is not only incomparably stable, and the speed of Spiritual Qi recovery far exceeds that of the same stage, but it can also accommodate more and stronger Divine Abilities and mana, laying an supreme Foundation for condensing a High Grade Golden Core in the future..."

"For ordinary Cultivators to undergo Foundation Establishment, they only need one type of elemental Spiritual Qi to be dominant. Five Elements Foundation Establishment, however, requires the Five Elements Spiritual Qi of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth to all reach the Great Perfection of the Qi Refinement Stage, and be balanced and mutually generating, while simultaneously breaking through the Bottleneck... the difficulty is doubled, but once successful, the benefits are also doubled."

"I currently have the Metal, Water, Wood, and Fire Sword Qi, but I am missing the Earth element. I need to complete the Earth Sword Qi as soon as possible, and Cultivate all Five Elements Spiritual Qi to the Great Perfection of the Qi Refinement Stage, reaching the Realm of 'Five Qi Converging to the Origin', before I can attempt Five Elements Foundation Establishment..."

A determined light flashed in Lin Wan's eyes.

Ordinary Foundation Establishment could no longer satisfy his ambition. Since he had this Opportunity, he must forge the strongest Five Elements Dao Foundation!

"Earth Sword Qi... Earth-attribute Spiritual Plant... It seems I need to find a way."

He walked out of the quiet room and looked out the window. Life in the Inner Sect had just begun. And his path of the Dao, due to the trip to the Sword Tomb, now had a clearer and more magnificent goal.

Five Elements Foundation Establishment, the Great Dao of the Golden Core, and even higher Realms...

And the Foundation of all this, besides his own cultivation, was the System, and also... the Family.

Liu Ruyan was about to give birth, and a new life was about to be born. What changes and rewards would that bring?

Lin Wan's heart was full of anticipation.
