74: Chapter 74 The Supreme Elder
"Big Brother is dead..." Black Head looked at the token in his hand with unwillingness, as it had snapped in two right down the middle.
Green Head also stared listlessly at the broken token in his hand, his heart filled with grief and indignation. First, they had been bullied by the East Sea Demon Clan and nearly lost their lives in their own Immortal Cave.
Big Brother had just reached the Late Stage of the Fourth Rank and made a trip to the human world, only to be surrounded and killed by human Martial Artists.
Recalling how high-spirited Big Brother had been before he left, saying he was going to create massive trouble for Magistrate Sun Nanyu, making it impossible for Magistrate Sun Nanyu to report back to the Great Wei Imperial Court, and perhaps even making him pay with his life to avenge the killing of his child.
Big Brother hadn't told them the specifics of what he was going to do, only telling them to guard the Immortal Cave well so that no other Yao would have a chance to take advantage of the situation and steal their supreme treasure.
Now, the Immortal Cave had been occupied by the East Sea Yao, the treasure was on the verge of being lost, and Big Brother had died by the Weishui River.
How unjust the Sea God is!
Having accidentally obtained a supreme treasure, the three brothers thought they finally had a chance to get ahead, but in just over ten days, they had encountered a massive upheaval, and everything had vanished like bubbles.
The two brothers had originally wanted to support Big Brother's retreat, but alas, it was their own fault; in order to monitor the movements of the East Sea Yao, they had stayed too close to them and had no opportunity to escape, forced to watch helplessly as Big Brother was killed.
The five individuals inside the Flower Snake's palace heard the commotion and stopped attacking the Formation, waiting together outside the palace for the battle by the Weishui River to end.
They would adapt to the situation, ready at any moment to hide their figures and return to the East Sea.
For a treasure whose Rank was not yet certain, how could Uncle Hei be willing to pay the price with his life? The Dragon clan cherished their lives above all else!
They had come here secretly before because the risks were controllable. Now, if they were discovered by human Martial Artists, Uncle Hei could not guarantee that he would be able to escape the pursuit of a Fifth-Rank powerhouse.
No matter how close the Weishui River was to the East Sea, it was not the East Sea!
"Elder, the battle above seems to have ended," Seahorse said obsequiously. Whether his severed hand could be restored depended on Uncle Hei, so he had to perform well. "How about I surface to take a look?"
"Hmm." Uncle Hei pondered for a moment and nodded.
Having received permission, Seahorse spiraled upward. When he was about to reach the surface, he slowed down and cautiously poked his head out, releasing his Divine Sense to carefully scan the entire riverbank. He only found bloodstains left everywhere—red, black, and green—but the figures of the humans had long since disappeared.
After Seahorse submerged, he waited for a while before surfacing again, once more using his Divine Sense to scan all the places where people could be hiding.
After repeating this three times and confirming there were no traces of human Martial Artists, Seahorse returned to report with peace of mind.
"Seahorse is back." Fathead Fish glanced upward.
"Elder, I have checked carefully; the human Martial Artists have indeed retreated." Seahorse reported the process of his inspection in detail.
"Seahorse, did you look carefully?" Fathead Fish said skeptically. Previously, in front of Uncle Hei, Seahorse had the strongest strength and was also good at sucking up, so the three of them never had a chance to get ahead. Now that Seahorse was injured, Fathead Fish naturally had to perform well.
Seahorse did not argue with him, but merely looked at Uncle Hei respectfully, saying nothing.
Uncle Hei pondered for a while and said to Fathead Fish, "You go take a look too."
"Yes!" Fathead Fish said excitedly. Before leaving, he glanced at Seahorse. Uncle Hei was finally noticing him and using him; he had to perform well this time. If he discovered anything, Seahorse, you are dead meat.
With excitement in his heart, Fathead Fish swam happily. He poked his head out above the water and observed carefully for a good while, but also discovered nothing. Unwilling to give up, he even went ashore and traveled over a thousand meters, but still found nothing, and could only return home.
Upon returning to the Flower Snake's palace, Fathead Fish told Uncle Hei exactly what he had seen. He wouldn't lie to frame Seahorse; that would get a fish killed.
Uncle Hei nodded again, turned to look at the Formation that was on the verge of breaking, and made up his mind. "We will attack for one last half-day. Regardless of the result, we will immediately return to the East Sea."
Uncle Hei angrily punched the protective spiritual light of the Formation. He didn't know where this Flower Snake had found such a High Grade Fourth Rank Formation, and the Spirit Stones were replenished so amply that even after attacking for ten whole days, they still hadn't broken this annoying Formation that the Dragon loathed.
The four Yao dared not dally, and all transformed back into their true forms, unleashing their strongest attacks and slamming them against the spiritual light of the Formation.
"Second Brother, they've gone in." Green Head said, looking in the direction of the palace.
"Hmm, they have started attacking the Formation again." Black Head said with a complex expression, his heart hardening. "Otherwise, why don't we go directly to the humans..."
"Second Brother, absolutely not!" Green Head interrupted Black Head's dangerous thought. "Otherwise, there will be no place left for us in the Yao Race."
Hearing this, Black Head didn't know whether he should tell his third brother the content of the warning message he had sent to Big Brother.
"Second Brother, let's go." Green Head said, as if having made up his mind about something.
"Where to?" Black Head asked.
"The West Sea." After saying this, Green Head slowly swam away into the distance.
...
Ye Jiesheng carried Ye Yisong on the Cage Staff and flew in front, with Patriarch Ye Tuanzhang and Ye Xiaowu following closely behind; Zhao Jian and Patriarch Li Hu flew behind, following Magistrate Sun Nanyu.
Several of them had been severely injured in order to kill the Flower Snake, especially Ye Jiesheng, the main combatant, whose whole body was still emitting heat, his crimson skin cracked in many places—it looked terrifying!
The group decided to first fly back to the Shuinan County government office to rest and regroup, and while they were at it, activate the defensive Formation of Shuinan County—the Four Directions Water Control Formation—to prevent any accidents.
This Formation could utilize the river water to strengthen its power, making it perfectly suited for the Shuinan County city, which was built along the water.
Using water to control Yao was truly a brilliant idea!
When they arrived at the Shuinan County government office, they saw an old man with a white beard dressed in brocade robes, standing quietly on the martial arts arena, examining the facilities and equipment of the Shuinan County government office with great interest.
It was as if he were recalling some old memories.
"Grand Elder." Ye Jiesheng, Patriarch Ye Tuanzhang, and the other two saluted.
"Greetings, Senior." Magistrate Sun Nanyu, leading Zhao Jian and Patriarch Li Hu, also bowed respectfully.
This was a genuine Nine-Star Martial Sect, a true Peak Martial Ancestor powerhouse, not comparable to someone like Ye Jiesheng, whose strength was boosted by secret techniques.
Supreme Elder Ye Rongsong stood there without saying a word, just quietly watching them. The pressure of the Spiritual Qi on his body alone made everyone in the arena, except for Ye Jiesheng, unable to breathe.
Ye Yisong was so oppressed that he almost knelt on the ground, sweat uncontrollably breaking out on his forehead; the Grand Elder was simply too strong.
Supreme Elder Ye Rongsong just nodded at everyone, then tossed a Medicinal Pill to Ye Jiesheng, and his figure vanished.
Magistrate Sun Nanyu and the others looked toward the arena with lingering fear, especially Zhao Jian and Patriarch Li Hu, who looked at each other and understood what the other meant.
Fortunately, they hadn't fled the battle; otherwise, their heads would probably already be hanging on the walls of Shuinan County.
"Many thanks to all you Fellow Daoists for your help today; I, Ye, am extremely grateful." After swallowing the Medicinal Pill, Ye Jiesheng's complexion recovered quite a bit, and he thanked the others.
As he spoke, he signaled for Patriarch Ye Tuanzhang and Ye Xiaowu to bring out the corpse of the Flower Snake.
"Elder Ye is too polite; eliminating Yao Beasts is our duty." Zhao Jian laughed it off.
Several of them looked at the Flower Snake corpse in the arena with excitement, their eyes gleaming!
