151: Chapter 151 This is what a professional team looks like

Two bodies were still radiating heat in the red mist. Gu Yan didn't even spare them a second glance; he stepped over the pool of blood and headed straight for the depths of the canyon.

"Keep close."

He tossed the words over his shoulder without looking back.

Jiang Wanrou, clutching her Pill Furnace, hurried to keep up. The moment she stepped across that invisible boundary line, her knees buckled, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.

Heavy.

It felt as if she were suddenly carrying two hundred pounds of lead. This heaviness didn't come from external pressure; it was as if every drop of blood and every bone in her body was being dragged downward by the earth itself.

"Is this... a gravity Restriction?" She gritted her teeth, channeling her spiritual energy to support her body, while a fine layer of sweat instantly beaded on her forehead.

"Three times gravity."

Gu Yan, however, acted as if nothing were wrong, his steps remaining light. He loosened his neck, and his cervical vertebrae emitted a series of cracking sounds like popping beans.

"This was Ancestor Blood River's Body Refining ground back in the day. To the weak, it is a quagmire; to the strong..." Gu Yan clenched his fist, the spikes on his soul-shattering knuckles flashing coldly in the mist, "...it is a natural whetstone."

Before he finished speaking, the gray sky above suddenly changed color.

The churning red mist seemed to be boiling, stirring violently. Immediately after, a drop of red liquid landed on the rock beside Gu Yan's foot.

"Sizzle—"

The rock emitted a wisp of blue smoke, and a deep pit the size of a fingernail was instantly corroded into it.

"It's raining."

Gu Yan looked up.

There was nothing poetic or picturesque about it. A dense downpour of red raindrops, accompanied by a scalp-numbing "sizzling" sound, smashed down from all sides.

Jiang Wanrou's expression changed drastically, and her hand moved rapidly, forming a Spell.

"Green Lotus Wall!"

A phantom of a gigantic green lotus bloomed above her head, shrouding both of them. The blood rain pelted the lotus petals, creating ripples and emitting the harsh sound of water splashing onto a red-hot iron plate.

"My spiritual energy can only sustain this for half an hour." Jiang Wanrou was pale; this high-intensity consumption was becoming too much for her to handle. "The rainwater contains highly toxic Evil Qi; it will continuously erode the shield."

"Half an hour?"

Gu Yan glanced at the complex labyrinth map on the light screen and the red dot flashing frantically at the finish line.

"That's enough."

He suddenly reached out, passing through the protection of the Green Lotus Wall, exposing his hand directly to the blood rain.

"Are you crazy?!" Jiang Wanrou exclaimed.

"Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle."

As the blood rain fell on Gu Yan's arm, the surface of his skin instantly turned red and began to smoke. But the next second, the domineering Evil Qi within his body began to circulate on its own, swallowing the toxins invading his body in one gulp.

The redness and swelling on his skin faded at a rate visible to the naked eye, replaced by an even tougher, bronze-colored luster.

"As expected."

Gu Yan withdrew his hand and shook off the water droplets: "This level of corrosion is just scratching an itch for me."

"Host, stop showing off."

The System popped up a huge red arrow in his mind: "Large wave of 'little cuties' approaching at eleven o'clock. Suggest enabling 'Bulldozer' mode."

Gu Yan's eyes sharpened.

"They're here."

He lowered his center of gravity, his whole body coiled like a taut longbow.

Deep in the red mist, pairs of scarlet eyes suddenly lit up. Immediately after, a nauseating, fishy stench rushed toward them.

They were a pack of skinless wolves.

Or rather, some kind of monster mutated by blood energy. Their muscles were completely exposed, dark red, and dripping with viscous fluid. Each one was the size of a calf, with claws and fangs as sharp as knives.

Blood Beasts.

"ROAR—!"

The lead Blood Beast let out a hiss, its hind legs kicking off the ground as it turned into a red flash, pouncing toward Jiang Wanrou. In their simple instincts, the woman holding the shield was clearly the easier target.

Jiang Wanrou's pupils constricted, and she was just about to pull a Talisman from her Storage Pouch.

A black shadow blocked her path.

There were no fancy Spells, just a simple, brutal punch.

"BOOM!"

A dull thud echoed through the canyon.

The head of the Blood Beast, which weighed several hundred pounds, was like a smashed rotten tomato, with red and white matter splattering everywhere. The headless corpse hit Gu Yan's chest due to inertia, but he casually swatted it away like flicking off dust.

"Keep up."

Gu Yan didn't pause and charged directly into the pack of beasts.

At this moment, he displayed the most terrifying side of a Body Cultivator.

Ignoring gravity, ignoring defense.

He was like a humanoid Tyrannosaurus Rex, moving upstream against the red tide. The soul-shattering knuckles became the scythe of the Grim Reaper, taking a life with every swing.

"Crack."

A Blood Beast tried to ambush him from the side, but Gu Yan backhanded it and grabbed its spine.

"Get lost."

With strength in both arms, he tore the Blood Beast in two, then used the two halves of the corpse as weapons, sweeping in a circle and knocking down three or four of the same kind that were pouncing on him.

Fresh blood sprayed, staining his black clothes red, as well as the knuckles.

Jiang Wanrou, holding up the Green Lotus Wall, followed tightly three steps behind Gu Yan. Looking at that back that was clearing the way through the blood and gore, the fear in her heart miraculously vanished.

As long as he was there, these monsters filling the sky seemed like nothing more than a flock of lambs waiting to be slaughtered.

"Turn left, jump down."

Gu Yan's voice suddenly came, interrupting her train of thought.

"Huh?"

Jiang Wanrou was stunned. Ahead was a cliff, and below it was pitch black; she couldn't see a thing.

"Jump!"

Gu Yan didn't offer any explanation. He kicked away a Blood Beast blocking the path, turned around, grabbed Jiang Wanrou by the waist, and leaped.

"Whoosh—"

The wind whistled in her ears.

The two of them fell rapidly.

Just when Jiang Wanrou thought they would fall and be smashed into meat paste, Gu Yan suddenly reached out, his five fingers hooking like claws, and slammed them into the rock wall beside them.

"Screech—"

Sparks flew everywhere.

The knuckles plowed five deep furrows into the rock wall, forcefully halting their descent.

The two hung suspended in mid-air.

Above them, those Blood Beasts that had lost their target were roaring crazily at the edge of the cliff, but they didn't dare to jump down.

"We're here."

Gu Yan released Jiang Wanrou and pointed to an extremely hidden cave nearby.

The cave was only half a person high, blocked tightly by a few protruding rocks. If someone hadn't been leading the way, it would have been impossible to discover.

"This is..." Jiang Wanrou ducked into the cave and found that it was unusually dry and didn't have a trace of the smell of blood.

"A VIP passage."

Gu Yan patted the bloodstains on his body, and the faint light on the knuckles gradually faded.

"Navigation complete."

"Three hundred meters ahead is the 'abandoned sewage outlet' from back then. Although it sounds a bit disgusting, it's the only place that hasn't been set with a lethal Restriction by Ancestor Blood River."

"Sewage outlet?"

Jiang Wanrou clearly didn't understand the term, but she was smart enough not to ask more. She put away the Green Lotus Fire and took out a bottle of Qi-restoring Medicinal Pills, handing them to Gu Yan.

"Your hand..."

Gu Yan lowered his head and looked at his right hand. After a long period of high-intensity slaughter, coupled with the recoil from the knuckles, the webbing between his thumb and index finger had split open, dripping with blood.

But he just shook his hand casually, took the Medicinal Pill, and threw it into his mouth.

"Just a superficial wound."

He looked into the depths of the cave, his pitch-black eyes flashing with the hunger of a wolf.

"Compared to what we're about to get, this bit of blood was worth shedding."

Gu Yan stood up and straightened his slightly disheveled clothes.

"Let's go, Alchemist Jiang."

"I'll take you to see what real... scavenging is."
