89: Chapter 89: The Extra Boss Hidden in the Shadows

Five bosses, each with different stats and combat power.

Their levels also varied, ranging from 43 to 50.

The one with the lowest health among them was [Bloodthirster "Red Wing"], with only 280,000 HP.

Yet, it was actually the highest level.

Its attack power was a full 8,000, and its skills included a life-steal passive.

This made Liu Xuan quite envious; it would be great if he had life-steal.

Taken individually, none of these bosses were particularly formidable.

At least they had few skills, and those were fairly conventional, with no mechanics that were too difficult to handle.

A team in their 40s could definitely take them down.

But with five of them together, quantity led to a qualitative change.

The damage would be hard to withstand, and if several bosses used their skills at once, it would easily lead to casualties.

No wonder the system said the campaign difficulty would "increase significantly" at this point in time.

However, that was for ordinary teams; it was different for Liu Xuan.

He would rather fight a few clustered bosses than clear the city of small mobs, which was even more tedious.

Unless the mobs were all gathered together so he could wipe them out in one go with [Corpse Explosion].

But why were there only these five bosses? Where was the so-called Great Priest?

Liu Xuan observed for a moment and noticed that the bosses were faintly forming a circle, seemingly guarding something in the center.

Looking closely, there seemed to be a massive dark shadow several meters high in the center, difficult to see clearly in the night.

But since it stood there motionless, Liu Xuan was certain it wasn't a living creature, but something like a stone.

Finally, on top of the stone, he saw the so-called "Great Priest."

Of course, it was pitch black, and he couldn't see the other party's appearance, only a silhouette.

However, [Eye of Insight] still scanned the other party's data.

[Void-Eroding Priest Holy Path (Boss)]

Level: 60

Attack Power: 100

Health: 1,200,000

Armor: 0

Magic Resistance: 1,800

Tenacity: 30%

Skill: [Spatial Erosion: Using special materials, Holy Path can bite through space to construct teleportation channels.]

[Environmental Adaptation: Holy Path can adjust the distribution ratio of its own Armor and Magic Resistance, with a total value of 1,800.]

[Protection: Makes one nearby allied unit immune to any damage and crowd control for 5 seconds. CD: 30 seconds.]

[Transfer: Holy Path tears through space, transferring any number of nearby allied units to any location within a 100-meter range.]

[Resurrection: Sacrifices 50,000 of its own Max HP to resurrect an allied unit.]

[Guard Link: Forms a connection with up to six nearby targets; for every target alive, its own damage taken is reduced by 10%.]

[Enrage: Increases the damage dealt by all nearby allied units by 35% for 28 seconds.]

[Ability Transfer: Holy Path can briefly Transfer the Attack Power, Magic Damage, Armor, or Magic Resistance of any nearby allied unit to another allied unit. CD: 5 seconds.]

This Great Priest is completely a support!

It basically has no offensive capability, but its skills are more disgusting than the last.

Liu Xuan felt he might have to take back his previous words; those five bosses plus Holy Path, six bosses together, really had something going for them when paired up.

Their combined damage wasn't low; based on a rough estimate of the stats and skill models, attacking together could deal at least 40,000 to 50,000 damage per second.

Just the damage was actually okay; Liu Xuan was confident he could take them all down before he died.

But with Holy Path's Resurrection ability, it was a bit hard to say.

Holy Path had a full 1.2 million HP, and each Resurrection only cost 50,000; plus with the [Guard Link] skill, its health would remain safe even after resurrecting units over a dozen times.

Not to mention an insane skill like [Ability Transfer], which could be used right when a boss was about to attack Liu Xuan to Transfer the Attack Power of another boss—for example, the 8,000 Attack Power of the highest, [Bloodthirster "Red Wing"]—to that boss to deal maximum damage.

Then, when a certain boss was about to be attacked, it could Transfer the Armor or Magic Resistance of other bosses to it to minimize the damage.

For instance, that [Flesh-Eater "Iron Armor" (Boss)] had as much as 1,500 Armor and Magic Resistance!

In other words, as long as this Great Priest Holy Path was sane and coordinated well with the other bosses, the strength they could display would far exceed their surface stats.

However...

"I'm not without a chance of winning either~"

Liu Xuan's gaze fell upon the "squishy" [Red Wing]; its health was only a mere 280,000.

The damage from [Thunder Aura] was now as high as 180,000; as long as he caught the opponent off guard and used two lightning strikes to kill it, the aura's damage would instantly soar to 460,000!

At that point, all these bosses would be toast!

Even with Resurrections, they couldn't possibly withstand that kind of damage.

And after the damage increased, there would be a high probability of striking down other bosses; once the snowball started rolling, it would be hard to lose.

Thinking about the rewards after success, Liu Xuan felt this was worth it and a good try!

"Let's do it!"

Since it was night, Liu Xuan rushed over directly under the cover of darkness.

As the distance closed, he gradually saw clearly what the bosses were surrounding.

It was a massive cyan stone, and the [Void-Eroding Priest Holy Path], which looked like a worm, was lying on top of the stone, slowly devouring it.

The parts that were eaten flickered with a strange light, similar to the portal Liu Xuan had seen in Orenburg.

In other words, once it finished eating the entire stone, the portal would be complete?

Because the five bosses were surrounding the stone, Liu Xuan deliberately took a slightly different path as he ran over so that [Thunder Aura] could strike [Red Wing] immediately.

However, just as the distance between the two sides was closing, Liu Xuan's ears twitched:

There was movement on the left!

The entire city had turned into ruins, with rubble everywhere, so stepping on it would inevitably make a sound.

But Liu Xuan's ears keenly perceived another sound to the left besides his own footsteps, though it was very faint.

Almost non-existent.

Fortunately, Liu Xuan had played games for years, and listening for footsteps was also a skill.

That sound was approaching him; if nothing went wrong, they were about to clash!

Liu Xuan instantly pulled out [Heavenly Man] and blocked to his left.

*Clang~*

A crisp sound of metal clashing rang out, and Liu Xuan only saw a small, thin figure flash past in front of the shield.

At that moment, the heavenly lightning descended, and to Liu Xuan's surprise, it actually missed and struck the ground:

The opponent had vanished again the instant the attack was finished!

"Does [Thunder Aura] not trigger on invisible people?" Liu Xuan thought to himself.

He hadn't encountered any monsters capable of stealth before, but today he had tested out a small mechanic of [Thunder Aura].

The opponent had clearly approached while stealthed, during which the aura had not triggered.

Then the time they spent revealed during the attack was too short; when the strike failed, they immediately used a forced stealth, causing the heavenly lightning to lose its locked target.

What surprised Liu Xuan was why the opponent hadn't been affected by [Fear] and could use forced stealth immediately.

100% Tenacity?

Or had they activated a skill beforehand that could clear crowd control?

For example, Holy Path had a [Protection] skill that could make a target immune to control and damage.

If it was the former, it was fine, but if it was the latter, how did the boss know that attacking him would result in being controlled?
