Chapter 10 Flying Sword Iron Kite
The next morning, under Yun Qian's curious gaze, several wooden boxes were delivered to Yun Bai's residence by a specialist from the State Religion.
These were purchased by Yun Bai from the State Religion yesterday.
"Yun Qian, Shen Qi." Yun Bai looked at the two girls.
Today was a rest day, so Yun Qian and Shen Qi did not need to go to school. Yang Peilan had gone out to buy groceries.
Yun Bai told the two that he was about to go on a mission: "I have already obtained the Heaven-Grade contract with the State Religion. Once I complete the mission here, I will soon go to the Holy City for advanced training. I hope you can head to the Holy City first to settle down. It is far from the front lines and much safer there."
However, when Yun Bai shared this idea with Yun Qian and Shen Qi, who had just stepped out of their room, they met it with immediate and unanimous opposition.
Yun Qian clutched her brother's sleeve tightly: "Brother, I'm not leaving! The Holy City is so big, and I don't know anyone there. If you aren't there, I'll feel empty inside and won't be at ease at all. I want to stay here and wait for you to come back safely!"
Shen Qi, standing beside her, also nodded vigorously, clutching Yun Qian's arm tightly. She said to Yun Bai: "Big Brother Yun Bai, let us stay! We can take care of each other and take care of ourselves. You are going into battle, which is extremely dangerous. If you have to divide your attention worrying about us in the Holy City, wouldn't that be an even greater burden? We will stay here and go nowhere!"
Looking at the two, Yun Bai felt helpless, knowing he couldn't sway them.
He had to settle for a secondary plan. He reached out and opened the wooden boxes on the table. Inside each box was a jade pendant the size of an egg, entirely translucent white, with a warm, gentle luster flowing through it.
He solemnly handed the jade pendants to Yun Qian and Shen Qi, repeatedly instructing them in a serious tone: "This item is called the 'Evil-Warding Thunder Talisman.' Once activated, the protective barrier it forms can withstand several full-force strikes from a Second Realm expert! It can also trigger a range of lightning power to counterattack."
His gaze swept over them, "Remember! If you encounter danger, survival comes first! Wait for me to return!"
The two girls nodded heavily.

After settling things in the rear, the weight on Yun Bai's heart eased slightly.
He arrived at the State Religion headquarters training ground. Squad Yi-34 was also there, waiting for the higher-ups to arrange for new members to reorganize.
"Yun Bai!"
Captain Zeng Fu strode forward, smiling as he thumped Yun Bai's shoulder hard, his voice resonant: "Good lad! You're a famous figure in our Chu Prefecture city now! Go ahead and run wild in the sky with peace of mind; leave the dirty work on the ground to us!" He looked at him with eyes full of gratification.
Deputy Captain Li Ying carefully advised: "The sky is different from the ground; the gale winds are fierce, there is nowhere to gain leverage, and the danger is doubled. Be careful with everything, and do not try to be a hero."
The reticent Fu Lianchuan remained quiet, simply nodding at Yun Bai with approval in his eyes.
Du San silently stepped forward and stuffed a stack of newly drawn, glowing, reinforced protective Talismans into Yun Bai's hand.
Feeling the sincere care of his teammates, Yun Bai felt a warmth in his heart. He handed several specially made, faintly glowing golden communication Talismans to Captain Zeng Fu: "Captain, everyone, take care! If you encounter another dangerous situation like the last time where you were targeted by a high-level demonic beast, no matter what, notify me immediately!"
Looking at the heroic Yun Bai before them, everyone felt sincerely proud of him. The boy from the past had grown into a powerhouse capable of standing on his own.
"Hahahaha, good! Now our squad has someone on the inside!" Du San laughed strangely, "Hehehe! It seems us brothers are going to be able to walk sideways on the Cang Plains!"
These comical words diluted the solemnity of the farewell, and everyone laughed.
Seeing this, Yun Bai was even more moved. "Everyone..." Although he hadn't been in the squad for very long, the bond forged through experiencing life and death together and fighting side by side had already tightly connected them.
He looked around at everyone and said sincerely: "I didn't expect to leave the squad in this way so soon. During this time, thank you all for your careful guidance and care. Without you taking me to familiarize myself with the battlefield and imparting your experience, I wouldn't have improved so quickly."
"What are you saying! You're being too formal!" Captain Zeng Fu waved his hand, his voice hearty, "You even saved our entire squad's lives! We brothers all remember this favor!"
"Yes!" Yun Bai nodded heavily, his tone firm, "I will always be a member of Squad Yi-34! If you have any needs in the future, come to me at any time! Even if it's a mountain of blades or a sea of fire, I will not refuse!"
"I'm going to take that seriously! Don't find it troublesome when the time comes!" Du San patted Yun Bai's shoulder again, this time with much less force, filled with reluctance.
Yun Bai said goodbye to the members of Squad Yi-34 and then found Supervisor Zhou Shengtai.
"Yo, ready so soon? Have you already mastered the method of Flying Sword control?" Supervisor Zhou Shengtai was sitting in the hall drinking tea at this moment, and couldn't help but be surprised when he saw Yun Bai.
"That's right." Yun Bai said confidently.
"Oh? So arrogant? Then I must properly examine you, kid. Let's hope you aren't just talking big." Supervisor Zhou Shengtai smiled, yet a hint of anticipation flashed in his eyes. He stood up, said nothing more, and simply waved his sleeve.
Yun Bai felt a slight distortion and fluctuation in the surrounding space. His vision blurred instantly. The next moment, he felt a solid sensation beneath his feet, but the howling gale and the suddenly vast field of view made him realize immediately—he was no longer in the hall!
He was standing on a huge scroll that had unfurled in mid-air, emitting a faint spiritual light. The patterns on the scroll flickered, forming a stable platform. Beneath his feet lay the vast and boundless, mist-shrouded Cang Plains, at least a thousand feet from the ground! The gale winds were like knives, blowing his robes until they snapped loudly and his hair danced wildly.
"How is it? Standing steady?" Supervisor Zhou Shengtai's voice rang out from the side. He stood gracefully at the edge of the scroll with his hands behind his back, his bald head shining brightly in the sunlight, seemingly unaffected by the high-altitude gale winds. "The view is wide here, it's a great place to practice. Summon your iron kite. As a proper First Realm Late Stage Cultivator, if you can't even handle basic Flying Sword flight, it would be a big joke if word got out."
Yun Bai steadied himself, suppressing the slight discomfort of being instantly transported to such a high altitude for the first time. With a thought, his Storage Ring vibrated slightly, and a clear, resonant sword hum rang out!
A Flying Sword about four feet long and three fingers wide, with an entirely dull iron-gray color, appeared out of thin air and hovered in the sky beside the scroll.
The sword body had smooth and sharp lines, with faint wind and thunder patterns. Embedded in the spine of the sword were three High-Grade Spirit Stones arranged in a triangular pattern, emitting a stable spiritual light; they were its power core.
This was the Grade Five Flying Sword—the iron kite! It hovered quietly, yet it naturally exuded an aura that was both steady and sharp.
"Good sword!" Yun Bai silently praised. He leaped, landing steadily on the broad blade of the iron kite. Beneath his feet came the cold and solid sensation unique to metal, as well as the surging yet docile spiritual pulse of the Spirit Stone core faintly transmitted through the sword body.
