155: Regret? Too late!
The Martial Artists who had been released also stood by, watching with cold eyes, understanding without needing words.
They were not as inexperienced as Lin Fan.
In their eyes, having so many free cannon fodder willingly offer themselves was an incredibly good thing.
They would not hesitate to use any leverage that could keep them alive.
Lin Fan sighed, looking at the dense crowd before him.
He ultimately did not tell them that outside this palace was not land, but a bottomless lake.
“The plan can begin,” Lin Fan transmitted towards the direction of the dungeon gate.
“Boom—!”
A deafening roar.
The dungeon gate, several feet thick, was violently shattered by an incredibly powerful force!
The huge shockwave sent the dozen or so guards who had rushed to the entrance flying.
“Kill!”
Nanny’s small figure, at some point, had a giant hammer in her hand, utterly disproportionate to her height, and with each swing, she cleanly dispatched a guard.
“Charge!”
Lin Fan let out a low roar and, along with Yang Yi, rushed out of the dungeon like tigers descending from a mountain.
Following closely were the Martial Artists with some strength, and finally, the vast, dense crowd of ordinary people, filled with wild joy and bewilderment.
“Everyone,” Lin Fan said in a deep voice to the dozen or so Martial Artists behind him the moment they burst out of the dungeon, “I think you should know what we intend to do.
If you don't cooperate, today, no one will escape from here.”
The dozen or so Martial Artists nodded upon hearing this.
“Young Hero, rest assured! We understand!”
Just then, three aged figures appeared beside Yang Yi.
They had been preparing in secret for a long time.
“Brother Yang,” Lin Fan said decisively, looking at the chaotic scene before him, “You take these dozen people and create chaos here, attacking the guards and the mid-to-high level guards.”
His gaze turned to the deepest part of the palace, his eyes growing serious.
“I will take Nanny and the three Seniors to meet the owner of this palace.”
One of the elders frowned upon hearing this: “Young Hero Lin, we have investigated before, there are over a dozen Void Realm amongst these guards, isn't it a bit unsuitable for our Young Lord to go alone?”
Lin Fan knew very well that if a Martial Emperor were to assist, their pressure in clearing out the guards would be much less, and the casualties among ordinary people could be minimized, but according to his previous perception, that unknown Palace Lord was very likely a Half-Step Martial Venerable, surpassing ordinary Martial Emperors.
To be safe, it was better to have more combat power.
Lin Fan shook his head, “Even a lion uses its full strength when hunting a rabbit.
Before we ascertain the opponent's true strength, any carelessness could lead to our complete destruction.”
Yang Yi knew what Lin Fan was thinking and responded, “Alright! Brother Lin, rest assured, I’ll handle things here!”
With the division of labor complete, no one hesitated any longer.
Lin Fan led Nanny and the three Martial Emperor elders, stealthily heading towards the deepest part of the palace.
Meanwhile, Yang Yi turned around, looking at the group of ordinary people still in the wild joy and bewilderment of surviving a catastrophe, a brilliant yet somewhat cruel smile appearing on his face.
“Congratulations, everyone, on regaining your freedom.”
His voice was full of temptation.
“Now, you can run to your heart's content and search for a way out of this cage.”
“Remember, never stop.”
As soon as he finished speaking.
“We’re free! We’re free!”
“Run!”
The crowd completely erupted.
The dense tide of people surged frantically in all directions, each face bearing a sickly joy.
Yang Yi watched their backs as they ran towards death, the smile on his lips deepening.
He lazily waved his hand at the dozen or so Martial Artists behind him.
“It’s time for us to get to work too.”
“Remember, our targets are those wearing armor.
As for these ‘free’ birds…”
“Let them fly for a while.”
...
Inside the dungeon, it was already empty.
The dozen or so smart individuals who had chosen not to leave had now finally emerged from their respective cells and gathered together; Lin Fan had also left them keys earlier.
Listening to the gradually rising shouts of battle and screams from outside, their faces showed no fear, but rather schadenfreude and mockery.
“Tsk tsk, listen to that commotion, it seems the fighting has already begun.”
“How many of those idiots outside do you think will survive in the end?”
“Survive?” In a corner, the young woman in green sneered, her voice cold, “Even saying one in ten would be flattering them.”
She paused, her tone filled with disdain.
“They brought this upon themselves, who can they blame?”
Everyone nodded in agreement upon hearing this.
Just then, a pale-faced scholar suddenly spoke with some concern.
“But... what if those young heroes fail?”
At these words, everyone fell silent.
Indeed.
If they failed, then what difference would there be between themselves and the cannon fodder outside?
Finally, it was the young woman in green who broke the suffocating silence.
She slowly walked to the already shattered dungeon gate, looking at the chaotic firelight outside and the incessant screams, her eyes complex.
“Being captured in this wretched place, what difference is there from being dead?”
Her voice carried a sense of detachment, as if she had seen through life and death.
“Now, we can only... leave it to fate.”
...
Outside the dungeon, the entire underwater palace was already in chaos.
Shouts of battle, screams, clashing weapons, cries of sorrow... intertwined into a symphony of death.
The Young Misses who had been so arrogant before now had lost their composure, dishevelled, and were being tossed around in the chaotic crowd.
They had thought that once they were out, they would regain their freedom.
But reality dealt them the cruelest blow!
They, along with a large group of equally overjoyed women and children, blindly scurried about and soon ran into the guards who had rushed to suppress them!
Those guards were like wolves and tigers, their cleavers showing no mercy!
Capture!
Slaughter!
Some guards, already parched with desire, looked at the fair-skinned, tender women, their eyes bursting with bestial lust, and directly pinned them to the ground on the spot, unleashing their most primal desires under the gaze of countless people!
Heart-wrenching screams echoed throughout the entire underwater palace.
Regret!
Endless regret completely engulfed them!
They finally understood that they had been used as cannon fodder!
But now, whatever they said, it was too late.
