The whirlpool of emotions and the fusion of souls

Ye Qiu nodded and said, "Alright, Zi Li, what do you want to say?"

Zi Li took a deep breath, as if this breath carried the entanglement and struggle she had held in her heart for so long.

Her gaze was fixed tightly on Ye Qiu, her eyes filled with both nervousness and determination, and she said slowly, "Ye Qiu, for some time now, I have been repeatedly thinking about our relationship and my feelings for you. I have discovered that my feelings for you have far surpassed the pure camaraderie between teammates."

Ye Qiu was slightly taken aback, a flash of surprise and confusion crossing his otherwise calm eyes.

In his past perception, Zi Li had always been that calm, powerful, and trustworthy partner in the team, a comrade-in-arms who had fought alongside him and shared life-and-death experiences in countless adventures.

He had never sensed that Zi Li held such deep-seated feelings for him, and this revelation left him momentarily at a loss.

Zi Li watched Ye Qiu's reaction, her heart fluttering with anxiety like a trapped rabbit.

She feared that her confession would cause trouble for Ye Qiu, and she feared even more receiving a disappointing answer.

But the words were already out, and she did not want to retreat anymore. Biting her lip, she continued, "I know Ellie likes you too. I originally tried hard to suppress my own feelings, not wanting to come between you two. However, feelings are just too hard to control. Whenever I see you with her, even if it's just a simple conversation or walking side by side, a sourness inexplicably rises in my heart, and that painful feeling is something I cannot ignore. I don't want to hide my feelings silently anymore; I must let you know."

Ye Qiu fell silent, his gaze fixed in the distance, his mind a tangled mess.

Ellie's enthusiasm and cheerfulness, always expressing her emotions without reservation, were like a blazing flame warming him; while Zi Li's gentleness and mystery, silently offering support in countless moments of fighting side by side, were like a trickling stream that had already, unknowingly, permeated his life.

These two vastly different girls now placed him in a dilemma because of these feelings.

"Zi Li, I... I am very grateful for these feelings you have for me. It's just that all of this is so sudden, and I have never thought about our relationship from this perspective. I have always treated everyone as close partners and did not realize you had such feelings for me. My heart is a bit chaotic right now, and I haven't fully figured out how to face this. I don't want to hurt you, nor do I want to hurt Ellie."

Zi Li smiled gently, a hint of bitterness in her smile, which was like a meteor flashing in the night sky—brief and poignant.

"I understand, you don't need to give me an answer so quickly. I just wanted you to know my heart. In the countless adventures we've experienced together, I have seen your unwavering conviction and immense courage when facing difficulties. Every time we encountered a desperate situation, you were always able to calmly analyze the situation and lead us to find a way out. And your care and concern for team members—even when you yourself were in danger, you never forgot to protect us. All these little things are like bright stars, slowly gathering in my heart, making me more and more captivated. Without realizing it, I discovered that I have fallen deeply in love with you."

Ye Qiu turned his head to look at Zi Li, his eyes full of emotion.

He recalled those thrilling adventures he had experienced with Zi Li. In mysterious ruins, Zi Li was always able to use her keen perception to discover hidden dangers; when facing powerful enemies, Zi Li always stood by his side without hesitation, fighting alongside him.

Those difficult moments they had spent together flashed through his mind like a movie.

"Zi Li, actually, you have always held a very important place in my heart. You are my most trusted partner and an indispensable reliance on my adventure path. It's just that matters of the heart are far more complex than I imagined. I don't want to make a wrong decision due to momentary impulse; I hope to treat this carefully and find the best solution so that neither of you gets hurt."

Zi Li nodded, her eyes revealing a hint of understanding and relief. "I understand, and I am willing to wait for you to figure it out. No matter the result, I hope we can still be good partners who fight side by side just like before. I don't want to ruin our friendship because of these feelings, and I certainly don't want to affect the harmony of the entire team."

Ye Qiu reached out and gently patted Zi Li's shoulder, a gesture that carried both comfort and a promise. "It will be, Zi Li. You will always be one of my most important partners. We have been through so many storms together; this bond will not change because of anything."

From then on, it was as if a heavy stone pressed down on Ye Qiu's heart, filling him with inner turmoil.

He began to unconsciously pay attention to every move Ellie and Zi Li made, trying to find the true answer within his own feelings.

Ellie remained as passionate as ever; she seemed unaware of Zi Li's confession and would still frequently take the initiative to chat with Ye Qiu, sharing the novel discoveries she made during explorations, and would silently watch Ye Qiu during battles with eyes full of admiration, providing him with the most powerful support at critical moments.

Zi Li, on the other hand, became somewhat reserved and subtle. She no longer interacted with Ye Qiu as freely as before. Every time their eyes met, she would quickly look away like a startled fawn, and her cheeks would involuntarily flush with a blush.

During an exploration of an ancient ruin, the team encountered unprecedented difficulties.

The ruins were permeated with a mysterious and oppressive aura, the passages were intricate and complex, filled with various mechanisms and traps.

Moreover, the deeper they went, the more intense the aura of danger became, as if a pair of invisible eyes were spying on them from the darkness.

Ye Qiu frowned, well aware of the arduous nature of this mission.

He utilized his Cosmic Origin Tracing Eye, observing the surrounding environment with full concentration, attempting to find a way to crack the mechanisms from those subtle clues.

Ellie and Zi Li followed silently behind Ye Qiu. On the surface, they both maintained their composure, but inwardly, they each had their own turbulence.

Ellie's heart was filled with trust in Ye Qiu; she firmly believed that Ye Qiu would definitely lead everyone to successfully complete the mission. Zi Li, however, was worried about Ye Qiu's safety; her gaze remained tightly fixed on Ye Qiu, ready to step forward at any moment if he encountered danger.

While passing through a narrow passage, suddenly, raging flames erupted from the walls on both sides of the channel.

The flames came aggressively, instantly turning the passage into a sea of fire; the scorching temperature made the air seem to warp.

Ye Qiu reacted quickly. Almost the moment the flames erupted, he unleashed his Star Power, forming a solid protective barrier in front of everyone.

The barrier formed by the Star Power emitted a soft light, like a protective film, blocking the oncoming flames.

"Everyone be careful, the mechanisms here are very dangerous," Ye Qiu shouted. Although his voice was steady, his eyes revealed a hint of vigilance.

Ellie looked at Ye Qiu, her eyes full of admiration and reliance: "Ye Qiu, you are always so amazing; every time you can protect us at critical moments. With you here, I am not afraid of anything."

Her voice was full of trust, as if Ye Qiu were her anchor in this unknown world.

Zi Li did not speak, but her eyes also revealed deep trust and worry for Ye Qiu.

She silently clenched her fists, secretly vowing to herself that she must protect Ye Qiu well and not let him suffer any harm.

As they continued forward, they encountered a giant Guardian Beast.

The Guardian Beast was as massive as a mountain, its entire body covered in a layer of scales as hard as iron, each scale shimmering with a cold, metallic luster.

Its eyes were like two burning flames, flashing with fierce and brutal light. It emitted low, rumbling roars from its mouth, the sound echoing through the empty ruins, making everyone's eardrums ache.

Ye Qiu immediately activated his God-level Analysis Function, his gaze fixed tightly on the Guardian Beast, his brain operating at high speed.

Very quickly, he found the Guardian Beast's weakness. "Everyone listen to me, this Guardian Beast's weakness is its abdomen; the scales there are relatively thin. We need to find a way to distract it, then concentrate our power to attack its abdomen."

Ye Qiu's voice was calm and firm, bringing confidence to everyone.

Everyone took action according to Ye Qiu's plan.

Ellie rushed forward first, unleashing her most powerful skill, brilliant light blooming in the darkness.

The Guardian Beast was enraged by this sudden attack; it let out a roar that resounded through the entire space like thunder, then lunged fiercely at Ellie.

Although massive, its movements were exceptionally agile; its giant claws swept through the air, bringing a whistling sound of wind.

Zi Li seized the opportunity and launched an attack from the side.

She chanted under her breath, her hands forming seals rapidly, and a mysterious purple magic shot toward the Guardian Beast like lightning.

The magic struck the Guardian Beast's leg, instantly erupting with powerful force. The Guardian Beast's leg was enveloped in purple light, its movement was hindered, and its pace faltered slightly.

Ye Qiu took the opportunity to wield his star battle axe. He gripped the axe with both hands and swung it with force, Star Power surging torrentially into the axe.

The axe emitted a dazzling light, striking toward the Guardian Beast's abdomen like a meteor.

The Guardian Beast sensed the immense threat to its abdomen; it roared in anger, waving its giant claws to swat at Ye Qiu.

That claw was more than a person's height, carrying overwhelming force, as if it would smash everything into powder.

In this critical moment, Zi Li had only one thought in her mind: Ye Qiu must not be injured!

She rushed up without hesitation, using her own body to block the Guardian Beast's attack. "Zi Li!" Ye Qiu shouted, his voice filled with fear and anxiety.

The Guardian Beast's fierce attack slammed heavily onto Zi Li's delicate body like a mountain crashing down. With a loud "bang," Zi Li was sent flying.

She let out a muffled groan, her body tracing an arc in the air before crashing heavily onto the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

A mouthful of bright red blood flowed gurgling from the corner of her mouth, staining her pale lips and clothes, but her eyes remained unwavering, without the slightest intention of retreating.

She was seen enduring the excruciating pain, struggling to prop herself up with both hands, standing up unsteadily, and then, without looking back, blocking in front of Ye Qiu once again.

At this moment, Ye Qiu, looking at Zi Li before him—covered in wounds yet still protecting him with her life—could not help but feel a complex surge of emotion, a mix of being moved and feeling guilty.

His eyes widened, his teeth clenched tight, and his fists trembled slightly with anger.
