59: Charlatan, the nine secrets of Taoism?
“Hello, Manager Liu,” Su Can said, picking up his phone.
“Young Master Su, I came bright and early today to pull strings and go through the procedures for you. Most of the basic paperwork is almost done, so you can come pick up the car now.”
Manager Liu said with a laugh over the phone, his voice filled with extreme eagerness and warmth.
To be honest, Su Can quite admired people like him. It was no wonder he could sit in the position of a Mercedes-Benz store manager.
“Alright, thank you for your hard work, Manager Liu. I’ll get ready now and head to the 4S shop!”
Su Can replied into the phone.
Manager Liu immediately said happily, “Great, great! I’ll be waiting for your esteemed presence at the store. Please be careful on the road!”
“Mm!”
Su Can smiled, then hung up the phone.
All the procedures being almost done was nonsense; he hadn’t even paid the final installment, so how could that be possible?
Calling him over now, to put it plainly, was to go and pay. Once he paid, all the procedures could then be completed.
Su Can didn't care much about these things. He simply tidied up a bit and went downstairs.
After going downstairs, he checked his phone and saw it was already past nine o'clock.
At the entrance of the residential complex, there were still a few street vendors selling homemade vegetables and steamed buns.
Su Can even saw a down-and-out Daoist priest with a fortune-telling stall.
Su Can only glanced at him before withdrawing his attention.
In his usual way of thinking, anyone setting up a fortune-telling stall in such an old residential complex was a charlatan, a con artist!
However, as he looked, the other party suddenly sensed something and subconsciously looked up towards Su Can.
With just a single glance, the down-and-out Daoist priest suddenly shot up to his feet!
He looked at Su Can walking towards the entrance of the residential complex, an expression of disbelief on his face, and murmured to himself:
“Impossible, impossible!”
“How can this person’s vital energy be so abundant? Even a single glance from me can stir my Qi flow!”
“In today’s society, people don’t even eat whole grains anymore. Everyone’s vital energy is weak and stagnant, with blocked Qi flow throughout their bodies. But he, he’s like a newborn infant, his aura as pure as innate Qi. How did he do it!?”
Gu Qingfeng looked shocked, as if he had witnessed the most incredible thing in the world.
One must know that he had lived rough in the mountains, returning to a primitive state, associating with beasts and accompanied by plants every day for ten long years, just to cultivate his vital energy to such an abundant level.
But as soon as he left the mountain and arrived here, he saw someone with no traces of cultivation whatsoever, yet whose vital energy was ten times more abundant than his own!
Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been enough to stir his Qi flow!
“Unbelievable! It’s too unbelievable; this simply defies all logic!”
“Could it be that this young man carries great fortune?”
Gu Qingfeng truly couldn't think of anything else that could explain this phenomenon.
Without any hesitation, Gu Qingfeng quickly walked towards the entrance of the residential complex, heading straight for Su Can.
Su Can was currently focused on picking up his new car, feeling a bit excited and thrilled, and didn't notice anything unusual about Gu Qingfeng.
He just thought the other party was a charlatan. Seeing him approach, he subconsciously moved to the side.
But when he moved to the left, Gu Qingfeng followed to the left; when he moved to the right, Gu Qingfeng also moved to the right.
Gu Qingfeng's eyes remained fixed on Su Can, practically glowing, as if he were looking at a peerless raw jade!
“Hey, I say, what do you want?”
Su Can stopped, feeling speechless. He had originally wanted to say something unpleasant, but seeing the other party's ragged clothes and down-and-out appearance, he held back the impulse.
However, Gu Qingfeng seemed to be deaf, not hearing anything he said, and just kept staring intently at Su Can.
Su Can just shook his head.
Then he rummaged through his pockets, pulled out ten yuan, and handed it to Gu Qingfeng, saying:
“Don’t stare at me. I only have these ten yuan in cash in my pocket. Here, take it. I have things to do, so please don’t block my way anymore!”
After speaking, Su Can placed the ten yuan into Gu Qingfeng’s arms, bypassed him, and walked past.
Gu Qingfeng only reacted then, quickly catching up and saying, “Young man, wait a moment. I’m not here for money. I see that you are no ordinary person and wish to form a good connection!”
“Hey, hey, hey, you misunderstood, you misunderstood! Wait for me!”
Gu Qingfeng watched Su Can hurrying away without looking back, and quickly shouted.
At the same time, he quickened his pace, again running in front of Su Can to block his path, saying, “Young man, young man, listen to me. I am a descendant of a secret Daoist sect, not a charlatan. Don’t you know that you are not an ordinary person?”
“Are you done or not? If you keep this up, I’m calling the police!”
Su Can couldn't be bothered to deal with the other party. Even his sales pitch was exactly like those con artists. Was he taking him for a fool?
“No, I’m really not some charlatan. I, Gu Qingfeng, have lived my life doing good deeds anonymously. How could I possibly deceive people for a bit of money?”
As soon as Su Can mentioned calling the police, Gu Qingfeng became a little anxious, but he also didn't dare to forcefully stop Su Can from leaving.
“Oh, that’s right, I happen to have an ancient Daoist text here. Take it and read it. If you gain some enlightenment, it means I’m right, and you will come looking for me!”
Gu Qingfeng suddenly thought of something and quickly pulled a cloth-wrapped bundle from his in my arms.
He quickly opened it, revealing two books: one was an ancient book made of an unknown leather, and the other was an ancient book with thread binding.
Because he was in a hurry, he didn't pay attention. He then pulled out the unknown leather-bound book and forcefully shoved it into Su Can's arms.
“Young man, hold onto this tightly. You must read it carefully and comprehend it well. You are truly no ordinary person, believe me!”
Gu Qingfeng looked at Su Can with earnest sincerity.
Su Can was speechless and had no choice but to take the leather-bound book and nod, which finally allowed him to leave.
After calling a car, he casually glanced at the leather-bound book. Four traditional characters were embossed on it: “Daoist Nine Secrets!”
“Daoist Nine Secrets?”
Su Can shook his head and chuckled, not taking it to heart. He casually rolled it up and held it in his hand.
He had no idea that he didn't recognize these ancient traditional characters at all, yet the moment he saw them, he inexplicably identified all four words.
“Driver, to the Auto City!”
“Alright!”
The taxi driver nodded, stepped on the gas, and quickly drove away, leaving Gu Qingfeng standing there, reluctantly watching the vehicle disappear into the distance.
After watching for a while, Gu Qingfeng sighed and began to re-wrap the cloth bundle.
But halfway through, he suddenly froze, staring intently at the thread-bound ancient book in his hand.
Then he suddenly reacted, slapped his thigh, and wailed, “Oh no, I grabbed the wrong book!”
“It’s over, it’s over! I gave him the sect’s secret, the gate-guarding manual passed down through our lineage, I…”
Gu Qingfeng looked at the bundle in his hand, wanting to cry but having no tears, practically wishing he could slap himself twice!
He was clearly supposed to give him the thread-bound ancient book in his hand, but he wasn't careful and mistakenly gave him the secret technique that was never to be passed outside the sect.
He looked at the out-of-sight taxi, then at the thread-bound ancient book in his hand, and felt like committing suicide.
