16: Chapter 16 Taming the Wolf Demon and Rescuing Shi Gandang!

Clack, clack!

With two casual strokes of his sword, he severed the iron chains binding the wolf Yao Beast.

Qin Muyuan stood in front of the cell, gripping the pure nail as he gazed at the wolf Yao Beast.

As long as the wolf Yao Beast dared to emit any Killing Intent, the pure nail in Qin Muyuan's hand would decisively slash down, letting it know what the Beating-Dog Sword Technique was all about.

However.

There was none.

Even though the chains binding it had been severed, this wolf Yao Beast did not dare to release even the slightest trace of Killing Intent.

Instead, it hurriedly propped itself up with its front paws, lowered its head, and kowtowed in a posture of complete submission and fealty.

"Awoo! Awoo!"

While kowtowing, it let out awoo sounds from its mouth.

"It actually surrendered sincerely?"

Qin Muyuan had assumed that since the game designed this Yao Beast as a wolf Yao, it would undoubtedly be extremely cunning.

He hadn't expected that after releasing it, the wolf Yao Beast truly wouldn't go back on its word and attack him, instead directly submitting to him.

And for the wolf Yao Beast, it was not one of those heat-driven female wolves in the wolf den!

The man in front of it could kill First Senior Brother Yin Pei of the martial arts hall with just a few sword strokes, so killing it would be as easy as slaughtering a chicken or butchering a dog.

Resist?

Go back on its word?

Wasn't that just courting death!

"Very well, since you are willing to submit to me, I'll call you Wangcai from now on."

Qin Muyuan twirled the pure nail, spinning a sword flower in his hand, and said.

"Awoo!"

Hearing this, the wolf Yao Beast repeatedly bowed its head, clearly accepting this moniker as well.

Seeing this, Qin Muyuan nodded in satisfaction.

He reopened the [Quest Guidance] in his panel and walked through the underground corridor following the arrows within his field of vision.

Behind him, the wolf Yao Beast Wangcai closely followed, completely not daring to make any moves to escape.

...

Following the guidance arrows to another cell in the corridor, Qin Muyuan finally found the target of his quest.

He saw that inside the cell, a naked, pale-faced man was soaking in a barrel of black medicinal liquid.

Even across a distance of seven or eight meters, Qin Muyuan could still smell the pungent, foul stench emanating from the medicinal liquid.

Just as Qin Muyuan found Shi Gandang, Shi Gandang, who was soaking in the medicinal liquid, also discovered Qin Muyuan outside the cell.

Shi Gandang opened his eyes, which were filled with bloodshot veins and carried a violent aura.

However, when he realized that the person outside wasn't First Senior Brother Yin Pei or Second Senior Brother Pan Yu of the martial arts hall, Shi Gandang desperately clenched his teeth, suppressing the violence deep within his heart.

Clang!

Qin Muyuan slashed out with a sword, the sword light flashing as the cell's iron bars snapped in response.

He raised the pure nail, walked into the cell, and looked down condescendingly at Shi Gandang soaking in the medicine barrel:

"You are Shi Yan's old man, Shi Gandang?"

Hearing his daughter's name, a bright light suddenly flashed in Shi Gandang's eyes, and he stared at Qin Muyuan: "You..."

"I accepted a quest to send you back to reunite with your daughter."

Qin Muyuan said with a nod.

Reunite?!

A surging fury suddenly erupted in Shi Gandang's eyes.

His eyes split with rage as he struggled to stand up and lunge at Qin Muyuan, but his body, having been soaked in the beast medicine for two days, no longer obeyed him, and he couldn't even stand.

He could only glare fiercely at the other party, roaring from between his teeth:

"What did you do to my daughter?!

You damned bastard!"

Hmm?

You dare to generate Killing Intent toward me.

Without another word, Qin Muyuan slapped Shi Gandang across the face.

Bam!

The medicine barrel shattered, wood chips flew everywhere, and the medicinal liquid spilled out.

Shi Gandang flew backward like a tattered rag, his face swelling into a pig's head.

Qin Muyuan stepped forward, grabbed the fallen Shi Gandang, and delivered two more slaps with a smack-smack.

Until Shi Gandang's head was dazed and his eyes cleared up, Qin Muyuan then asked:

"Are you awake yet?

I was entrusted by your daughter Shi Yan to rescue you alive, but with you uncooperative like this, it's very hard for me, you know?"

"Yan'er... entrusted?!"

The ferocity on Shi Gandang's face suddenly stalled and turned into astonishment.

His swollen tongue was a bit stiff, his voice hoarse yet urgent:

"You... the commission you mentioned, was it entrusted by Yan'er...?"

"Duh?"

Qin Muyuan answered matter-of-factly, "Aside from your daughter, who else would make me make a special trip to this place to fish you out?"

"Then... then..."

Shi Gandang asked in astonishment, "What about the reunion you mentioned?"

"Is there a problem?"

Qin Muyuan frowned, "You don't want to go outside and reunite with your daughter?"

Could this NPC's brain have been soaked and fried by the medicinal liquid?

Can he not even understand what reunion means?

Come to think of it, sending a brain-damaged Shi Gandang back to see Shi Yan should still count as completing the quest, right?

Hearing Qin Muyuan's words, Shi Gandang opened his mouth: "I... You..."

But if it's that kind of "reunion", then you should have said so earlier!

Feeling the burning pain on his face, Shi Gandang wanted to cry without tears!

He had thought that hearing Yan'er was in danger meant he should fight to the death with the youth in front of him, so they could go together to reunite in the netherworld.

Who would have known... that the reunion in this youth's mouth meant the actual, original meaning of reunion!

"Alright, are you sober yet?"

Qin Muyuan raised his palm and asked, eyeing Shi Gandang.

"I'm sober!

I'm sober!"

Looking at that palm capable of swatting him several meters away, Shi Gandang quickly shouted.

Sensing that Shi Gandang no longer produced Killing Intent toward him, Qin Muyuan nodded slightly and put away his palm.

He raised his eyes, gazed at the exclamation mark above Shi Gandang's head, and said:

"Right, do you have any quests to give me?"

A quest?

Hearing this, Shi Gandang suddenly thought of the other poor souls soaked alongside him in the violent beast medicine, and quickly said:

"I do!

I do!

Hero, in this cell there are still..."

"Skip, skip, just tell me who to kill."

Qin Muyuan directly interrupted, too lazy to listen to the quest's backstory.

"It's not who to kill, but rather..."

"Skip, skip, just tell me what needs to be done."

"..."

Shi Gandang was silent for two seconds and said:

"I ask the hero to join me in rescuing the other Martial Artists locked up in this dungeon!"

[Shi Gandang issues a quest to you]

[Quest: Rescue other imprisoned Martial Artists]

[Baiyun Martial Arts Hall engages in imprisonment and slaughter under the guise of an underground colosseum.

They capture weaker Martial Artists everywhere, soak their bodies in "Rampant Bestialization Potion" to plunge them into madness and bestiality, and then throw these Martial Artists into the colosseum to fight bloodthirsty Yao Beasts to satisfy the audience's distorted, bloodthirsty desires.

Shi Gandang, whom you rescued, implores you to act with him to rescue the other Martial Artists still imprisoned here.]

[Quest Rewards: EXP +400, Mall Points +2500, Huoyun Country Regional Fame +100, White Skill · Railgun Lv1]

A skill?

Railgun?!

Qin Muyuan remembered that this name should be the superpower of a female character from some ancient anime, right?

"Fine, I accept the quest."

Qin Muyuan nodded, looked at Shi Gandang—who had been soaked in beast medicine for two days and found it difficult even to stand up—and then turned his head to look at the wolf Yao Beast behind him:

"Wangcai, carry him on your back and follow me."

"Awoo!"

Although the beast medicine odor on Shi Gandang was extremely pungent, the wolf Yao Beast did not dare disobey, and could only hold Shi Gandang with its two paws, hoisting him onto its back.

Qin Muyuan opened [Quest Guidance] and followed the arrows deep into the corridor to search for the imprisoned Martial Artists.
