38: Chapter 38 A Traitor Appears

On the other side, after instructing Zhao De, Gu Han began searching for a way out of the Blood Sacrifice Grand Array.

At this moment, blood mist surged within the prison, and murderous intent lurked everywhere.

Sounds of fighting and cries for help echoed incessantly.

Gu Han hurried along the ruined walls of the prison, his Nine Hells True Qi surging within him like a Dragon.

With the Blood God Cultist's jade talisman, the blood mist did not attack Gu Han.

"Where is the exit to this Blood Sacrifice Grand Array?"

"Surely they wouldn't prevent the people who attacked from leaving, right?"

Gu Han kept questioning in his mind.

But the saber in his hand did not stop.

He saw a flash of light in his eyes, and with a horizontal sweep of his long saber, three lunging Blood Puppets instantly shattered.

Suddenly, an angry shout came from ahead.

"Zhou Hong, you traitor!"

"I won't let you go even if I become a ghost!"

A Zhenwu Guard's chest was pierced by a blood-colored spear.

Gu Han's pupils constricted.

He saw that the Zhenwu Guard Commander, Zhou Hong, was leading Blood God Cultists to slaughter his colleagues.

Before the Zhenwu Guard could finish speaking, Zhou Hong flicked his wrist, causing the blood light on the spear to surge, instantly sucking the other person into a mummified corpse.

"Hahaha, you fool!"

"Wait until you can turn into a vengeful ghost before you say that!"

Zhou Hong sneered and cast the corpse aside.

"What future is there in following the Zhenwu Division?"

"Working yourself to death, what do you get in the end?"

"You're not really officials; you're just dogs for the Chu family."

"Offending people everywhere for their Chu family, and in the end, the retribution falls on yourself."

Gu Han's pupils constricted, his body pressed tightly against the ruins, his Nine Hells True Qi surging through his Meridians like a Dragon.

"Zhou Hong is actually a traitor?!"

"The famous Zhenwu Guard Commander."

"In the Jianghu, evil sects fear him by three points whenever he is mentioned."

"To think this person actually colluded with the Blood God Cult."

Gu Han stared fixedly ahead, muttering to himself in his heart.

He saw Zhou Hong flick the blood-colored spear in his hand, and another Zhenwu Guard had his chest pierced, turning into a mummified corpse in the blink of an eye.

"Hahaha!"

"Satisfying!"

Zhou Hong laughed wildly, blood vessels bulging on his face, wriggling like earthworms.

"It's been twenty years; I finally don't have to pretend to be a loyal subject anymore."

"Finally, I don't have to face this group of hypocrites anymore."

Gu Han dug his fingers into the wall, and gravel fell down with a rustle.

He forced himself to calm down; rushing out now would be suicide.

Zhou Hong, as the Zhenwu Guard Commander, was at least at the eighth level of the Heaven-Human realm, far beyond what he could contend with.

"Must find a way out first."

"Avoid this guy."

Gu Han scanned his surroundings.

The blood mist grew thicker, and visibility was less than three zhang.

Screams echoed from afar, from both Zhenwu Guards and Blood God Cultists.

Clearly, the demons did not distinguish between friend and foe; they killed anyone they saw.

Just then, Zhou Hong suddenly turned his head, his blood-colored spear pointing directly at Gu Han's hiding spot!

"Who is there?"

Gu Han tensed up, his Nine Hells True Qi instantly covering his entire body.

Just as he prepared to fight to the death, a dark shadow swept past from the other side.

With a "swish" sound.

Zhou Hong's spear struck like lightning, pinning the shadow to the wall.

It turned out to be a rat eroded by the blood mist, which had swollen to the size of a puppy.

"Hmph, it's just a rat."

"Didn't expect this beast to have such an Opportunity, turning into a demon within the Blood Sacrifice Grand Array."

Zhou Hong disdainfully pulled out his spear and said to the Blood God Cultist beside him.

"Go check the Seal on the third floor of the dungeon."

"Don't let those old guys come out and ruin the big plan."

"If those old immortals come out, we won't be able to escape even if we want to."

Gu Han held his breath, only exhaling slowly after Zhou Hong and his men had walked far away.

Cold sweat seeped from his forehead; in that instant, he had truly felt the aura of death.

"The third floor of the dungeon?"

A flash of light appeared in Gu Han's eyes.

"Could it be that there are even more terrifying existences imprisoned beneath the prison?"

He remembered Zhao De's words: the prison had two floors; the first floor held ordinary prisoners with average cultivation, and the second floor held powerful demon and evil cultivator prisoners.

Now it seemed there might be a third floor below.

After hesitating for a moment, Gu Han gave up the thought of following them.

"Forget it, everything is in chaos here right now."

"With my cultivation level, it's more important to save my own life."

Immediately, Gu Han left quickly, not daring to linger here anymore.

He was afraid that Zhou Hong and his men would turn back.

Gu Han hurried along the damaged walls of the prison.

The blood-colored jade talisman in his hand emitted a faint light, pushing back the surrounding blood mist by three chi.

"Since when did the prison become so big?"

Gu Han couldn't help but grumble.

He frowned as he looked at the almost identical ruins of the prison cells all around.

The blood mist grew thicker, and visibility was now less than two zhang.

From afar, shrill screams came from time to time.

Constantly reminding him that this place was not to be stayed in for long.

Suddenly, the blood mist ahead surged violently, and a dark shadow stumbled out.

"Brother Li?"

Gu Han's pupils constricted, recognizing the person as the Jailer, Li San.

At this moment, half of Li San's body was shriveled, his right arm was gone, and eerie blood threads were wrapped around the wound.

Seeing Gu Han, Li San lunged at him like a Puppet.

Gu Han retreated violently, his saber light flashing like lightning as he slashed at the lunging Li San.

The moment the blade cut into flesh, he realized something was wrong.

The blood threads at the wound of Li San, who should have been severed, wriggled and tightly entangled the blade.

"Damn it!"

"Can this blood mist turn dead people into zombies?"

"Kill... kill..."

Li San's turbid eyes bulged from their sockets, and his remaining left arm reached out like a withered branch.

Gu Han decisively abandoned his saber and retreated, his Nine Hells True Qi condensing into a blade in his palm.

Just as the blood threads were about to touch his skin, a strange scene occurred: those blood threads suddenly retreated rapidly as if encountering a natural enemy.

"Fortunately, my Nine Hells True Qi restrains this thing."

"Otherwise, I would have been worn to death."

He slashed out violently, his Nine Hells True Qi surging out like a tide, severing all the blood threads wrapped around his saber.

The blade regained its freedom, emitting a clear, ringing sound.

From afar, screams rose and fell; shadows flickered in the blood mist, and who knew how many Zhenwu Guards had already turned into walking corpses.

"Run!"

Gu Han gripped the blood-colored jade talisman tightly and sprinted along the ruined corridor.

Suddenly, the blood mist ahead surged violently, and three figures stumbled out.

"Save... save me!"

The leader was a young Zhenwu Guard covered in blood, and the copper medal at his waist showed he was just an ordinary little banner.

Gu Han's gaze focused.

The young Zhenwu Guard covered in blood stumbled toward him.

The two comrades behind him were already half-shriveled, their eyes flashing with eerie blood light.

Gu Han frowned tightly, holding his blade horizontally in front of his chest.

"You have already been eroded by the blood mist."

"Let me help you find release!"

Gu Han's blade cut a cold arc through the blood mist, and the heads of the three blood-eroded Zhenwu Guards flew into the sky.

Eerily, no blood spurted from the severed necks; only wisps of blood mist wriggled like living things.

Suddenly, a crisp "crack" sound came from behind.

Gu Han turned around abruptly, only to see a headless corpse still moving, its withered fingers having already grabbed his pant leg!

"Seeking death!"

A cold light flared in Gu Han's eyes, and his Nine Hells True Qi erupted violently.

A cold light appeared on the blade, and with a single slash, the corpse was instantly shredded into pieces.

Just then, the blood-colored jade talisman suddenly emitted a dazzling light.

Gu Han's heart jumped; he looked up and saw a passage vaguely appearing deep in the blood mist, with a faint light at the end of the passage.

"The exit?"

Gu Han gripped the jade talisman tightly and rushed toward the passage without hesitation.

...

At this moment, Chu Xuan was galloping on horseback along the official road leading to the prison, with his personal guards following closely behind.

"Your Highness, there is something strange ahead!"

The personal guard shouted suddenly.

Chu Xuan pulled the reins abruptly; he saw seven figures standing in the middle of the official road.
