527: Chapter 527 Good Things

"Sister, don't be in such a hurry." Liu Xuan reached out to stop An Yunmiao. "Fatty is still sleeping; it wouldn't be right to disturb him!"

Liu Xuan did not want to reveal his full strength just yet. He stood up, placed his hands on An Yunmiao's shoulders, and guided her back into her seat.

"Sister, I came to see you today just to chat, and I also have a few questions I'd like to ask you."

An Yunmiao brushed Liu Xuan's hands off her shoulders and shot him a glare, saying irritably, "What questions?"

"The Endless Demon Court is currently in a passive position, and its destruction is imminent. Do you think it's possible for Demon Saint Xuanyu to ask other Spirit Transformation Dao Lords or Demon Sages in the Southern Border for help?"

"Impossible!" An Yunmiao rejected the idea without a second thought. Seeing Liu Xuan's confusion, she explained patiently, "Since ancient times, the Human Race has been the dominant power in the Cangwu Cultivation World. The Pioneering War is the result of compromises between various parties. The other Spirit Transformation forces in the Southern Border wouldn't dare to help."

Seeing that Liu Xuan still didn't quite understand, An Yunmiao used a different explanation.

"You know about the Western Desert, right? Before the recent era, it wasn't actually a desert. It became like that because a large-scale war broke out there."

"Back then, the Human Race's Spirit Transformation Sects expanded westward and met desperate resistance from the Yao Race. Both sides kept escalating the scale of the war, and more and more Spirit Transformation powerhouses were dragged in. Eventually, they fought until the Laws of Heaven and Earth collapsed. The entire Western Domain turned into a desert, the rules of the world became chaotic, and danger lurked everywhere. No one gained anything from it."

"Since then, the Central State Dao Court and the Yao Race of the four directions have all shown restraint. Pioneering Wars can only be initiated under specific circumstances, and there are established rules. The other Spirit Transformation Yao clans in the Southern Border would never dare to help easily."

"So that's how it is!"

Liu Xuan hadn't expected such a secret to exist. Why was none of this recorded in the history books he had read?

He liked to read history books in his spare time, but he had never seen any mention of the Western Desert being turned into a desert by a great war. He had always thought it had always been that way.

"'History is full of falsehoods'β€”it seems there's some truth to that saying."

Liu Xuan pondered for a moment and continued his questioning, "If the Yao Race forces are impossible, what about the ghost cultivator forces of the Black Death Marsh? Is it possible for them?"

"The Black Death Marsh?" An Yunmiao gave Liu Xuan a puzzled look and shook her head. "That's also unlikely."

"The ruler of the Black Death Marsh is Ghost King Lianyue, one of the overlords of the Southern Border. As long as she behaves herself, the Pioneering War will never reach her. Why would she bother getting involved?"

"Unless our Beast Taming Sect immediately moves against other Yao forces after taking down the Endless Demon Court, normally, no one would openly help the Demon Court."

"Normally... then what about abnormal circumstances?" Liu Xuan probed.

"That's not something you or I should worry about. Matters between Dao Monarchs and Demon Sages are useless for small figures like us to dwell on."

Seeing Liu Xuan's worried expression, An Yunmiao teased him with a smile, "You're a good kid in every way, but you're just too timid! These aren't problems you can solve, so what's the use of worrying?"

"If you have this much free time, you'd be better off refining a few more batches of Medicinal Pills." She held out her fair hand toward Liu Xuan. "Where are the fire spirit chi yuan pills you promised me? You've been putting it off for so long!"

The spatial ring on Liu Xuan's hand flashed slightly, and over a dozen bottles of fire spirit chi yuan pills were placed in her hand, making up for everything from the past period.

"So many?!" An Yunmiao's eyes were full of pleasant surprise. After a moment, she felt something was off and questioned, "Weren't you at Biyou Pool a while ago? Where did you find the time to refine pills?"

"How could those trivial matters at Biyou Pool be more important than refining pills for you, Sister? I can delay anything, but I can't delay what you've assigned me."

Hearing this, An Yunmiao was happy in her heart, but she didn't show it on her face. "I don't believe your nonsense!"

Liu Xuan used the casual chat to learn more about the Star Academy in detail, while also teasing An Yunmiao, his sister-in-law. He stayed for a full hour before leaving.

...

A month later.

Liu Xuan had secretly prepared everything for his Family to flee. No matter which way the war developed, there would always be a way out.

'Surely Demon Saint Xuanyu and Ghost King Lianyue wouldn't go as far as to counterattack the Azure Profound Sect, right?'

If it really came to that, Liu Xuan would take his Family and retreat to the Central Prefecture. Could they really fight all the way to the Dao Court?

'Based on what I know now, even if Ghost King Lianyue does help, she will certainly show some restraint and won't act without any scruples.'

'If my previous guess was correct, the war will remain in a stalemate until Daoist Lord Lihuo's true body arrives.'

"This is a good thing!"

From the Liu Family's perspective, new possibilities had emerged for the outcome of the war, which instead provided more opportunities to fish in troubled waters.

It would be best if both sides suffered losses and the war was dragged out indefinitely; only then would the Liu Family have enough time to develop slowly.

Thinking this way, Liu Xuan didn't need to do anything but watch the war with peace of mind. He could grab some benefits if the opportunity arose or flee if there was danger. Either way, he wouldn't lose!

With the biggest weight on his mind mostly lifted, Liu Xuan returned to his daily routine.

The child in Bai Leng's belly was about to be born, and the grand prize for reaching a thousand descendants was almost within reach. It could be said that good things were coming in pairs.

"With over a thousand women in the Family and nearly a thousand descendants, that's a total of two thousand people. Even if I can't care for every single one, I should at least gather with them more often to get to know their faces."

...

Biyou Pool.

While Liu Xuan was living a life surrounded by children and wives at the Star Academy, Demon Lord Chixia was drinking sullenly with Demon Lord Cangyuan.

"Brother Cang Yuan, didn't you say things would be settled quickly and that it was foolproof? Why hasn't there been any movement for so long?"

Demon Lord Chixia slammed his wine cup heavily onto the table, his expression turned extremely ugly.

A month ago, Demon Lord Chixia's people and Demon Lord Cangyuan's people had cooperated, risking danger to lure Li Xihe away and create an opportunity for that mysterious Peak Nascent Soul Ghost Commander.

He had thought he would receive news of Liu Tongxiao's death soon, but there had been no word at all.

"Brother, don't be anxious. Perhaps some accident occurred. Fortunately, there hasn't been any bad news, right?"

"Don't be anxious?" Demon Lord Chixia's eyes twitched slightly. "This concerns my very life, and you're telling me not to be anxious?!"

Demon Lord Chixia was under immense pressure. He was committing an act of betrayal against a Dao Monarch; if even a hint of this got out, dying a hundred times wouldn't be enough to atone for his sins.

By now, he was starting to regret it, and he even seriously suspected that Demon Lord Cangyuan was setting a trap for him to use as leverage against him.

When a Peak Nascent Soul Ghost Commander takes action, whether they succeed or fail, some news should have leaked out. How could there be no movement at all for a whole month? If this wasn't playing him for a fool, what was?

Demon Lord Cangyuan had just joined the Beast Taming Sect and had no background support. He certainly had a motive to try and bind Chixia to him this way.

"Brother Chixia, you've misunderstood. I am also very puzzled by this!" The expression on Demon Lord Cangyuan's face did not seem fake as he promised, "Give me a few more days. I will investigate thoroughly and definitely give you a satisfactory answer."

Having said that, he put down his wine cup, stood up, and took his leave with a cupped-hand salute. A flash of light appeared, and he vanished from the surface of the water.
