6: Chapter 6: Popular Science about the Giant Scorpion of Dark Flame!

Shotguns continuously spat out tongues of fire.

Even though they had the firepower to suppress it, it was clear that gunfire of this caliber couldn't cause much damage to the giant scorpion.

When the bullets hit the scorpion's shell, they merely left behind faint white marks.

This level of hardness was something Yan Kuanru had never seen in his life.

"This is suicidal! We haven't even reached the outer perimeter yet, how can something of this level pop up?!"

"Damn it! Run!!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he fired a few shots directly at the giant lizard, then turned around to flee.

The rest of the group did the exact same thing.

Among them, Zhu Chenshan fired two shots directly into the sand in front of Song Yiqing and Zhang Qilin.

Bang! Bang!

"Don't you fucking follow us!! If you dare come over, I'll kill you!!"

Without looking back, he sprinted away. Simultaneously, Yan Kuanru swiftly threw a grenade toward the location of the giant scorpion.

Boom!!!

A large crater was blasted into the sand, but the giant scorpion didn't seem to have sustained any injuries.

Inside the Yan Family Gang's livestream room:

[Holy crap!! They really fucking shook them off like dead weight?]

[This is the cruelty of exploration teams! Here, life and death are irrelevant.]

[Often, the most dangerous things aren't these ferocious ancient creatures, but your teammates! People!]

[Terrifying, absolutely terrifying!! But having said that, that giant scorpion is way too scary; even bullets can't leave a mark on it.]

[I remember that ancient creatures of this level can only be found in the outer or even inner regions.]

[It appeared this far from the outer perimeter—perhaps this is the influence of the Black Sandstorm!]

[Forbidden land exploration is indeed the most dangerous thing!]

...

Song Yiqing and Zhang Qilin looked at each other.

Then, Song Yiqing spoke up.

"In terms of judgment, this Yan Kuanru is actually quite good. Very decisive!"

"Mm."

Zhang Qilin nodded heavily, giving a rare response.

Meanwhile, the massive giant scorpion was slowly crawling toward them.

[Challenge Mission: Kill the giant scorpion to receive an S-rank reward!]

As the system notification rang out, Song Yiqing's heart gradually began to race with excitement.

He wasn't afraid of this giant scorpion. In the beginner's gift pack he received at the start, besides the Soldier King Physique, there was also a 'Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Ancient Creatures'.

It contained fairly complete explanations of the weaknesses of various ancient creatures, whether it was their habits or their vulnerabilities.

As long as he knew the weakness, killing the giant scorpion wouldn't be difficult.

However, just as Song Yiqing was thinking about how to go about the kill,

Zhang Qilin, who was beside him, had already taken a step forward and charged directly at the giant scorpion like a gust of wind.

At the same time, he had already unsheathed his black gold ancient blade.

The blade tore through the air, letting out a humming sound.

Not to be outdone, the giant scorpion directly swung its massive pincers.

Clang!!

As the blade collided with the giant pincer, a powerful shockwave erupted on the spot.

The terrifying strength of this giant scorpion was fully revealed at this moment.

Watching this scene, Song Yiqing was also slightly amazed.

"Tsk tsk tsk!! As expected of the Little Brother, this strength is indeed fierce."

"But this giant scorpion is also impressive. I didn't expect it to be able to go toe-to-toe with him."

As he muttered to himself, he immediately took out the drone livestream ball issued by the Forbidden Land Exploration Official from his backpack and connected it to start the stream.

After all, they would likely be traveling on their own from now on, so keeping the livestream on would allow them to better earn official points.

For instance, if they killed this giant scorpion, they could choose to sell it directly to the officials. Once the location was reported, official personnel would come to collect it.

It was all about efficiency and convenience.

Newly opened livestream rooms usually didn't have much traffic.

However, combat livestreams where danger had already broken out were often the most attractive.

Take Song Yiqing's livestream room right now, for example.

The drone livestream ball had an AI determination system that could accurately capture combatants. It would then use movie-level filming techniques to fly and circle around, presenting the most perfect shots possible.

In an instant, it attracted quite a few people to come and watch.

[Woah, holy crap! What's the situation? What's going on??]

[Good heavens! I just saw another exploration team nearby encounter a giant scorpion. They even had heavy machine guns but couldn't blast it apart. They were totally wiped out!]

[Oh my god! Is this giant scorpion really that terrifying?]

[The most crucial thing isn't how scary the scorpion is, but this young man with the blade—he's just too unreal! How is he doing this?]

[He's actually taking it head-on? My god!! The strength of this giant scorpion is at least over a ton.]

[This young man isn't human, is he?]

[It's blowing up! It's blowing up!! As expected, the world is never short of extraordinary martial arts experts. They really are incredible!]

On the livestream screen:

Zhang Qilin swung his blade frantically, engaging in a back-and-forth struggle with the giant scorpion.

Although his strength was enormous, the giant scorpion's shell was exceptionally hard, and he simply couldn't hack through it.

For a moment, a look of puzzled contemplation appeared on Zhang Qilin's face.

Seeing this from a distance, Song Yiqing also shook his head slightly.

"Indeed! Martial power alone isn't enough. At times like this, the 'intelligence' of the group needs to step up."

As he spoke, he began to provide information based on the data he possessed.

"This giant scorpion is called the Underworld Flame Giant Scorpion, an ancient creature from the Permian period. Its greatest feature is that its shell's hardness is comparable to alloy."

"However, its tail stinger can easily pierce through steel plates!!"

"You must be careful of the tail stinger; it's filled with lethal poison."

At this point, Song Yiqing paused, remembering that Zhang Qilin's Qilin Blood made him immune to all poisons.

This point probably didn't need to be mentioned.

However, after he said this, Zhang Qilin quickly dodged the tail stinger's attack and left more space to provide a margin for error.

[Oh ho, I didn't expect this short-haired kid to actually know his stuff! He even recognizes such an ancient giant scorpion!]

[It really is a bit surprising. Just now, I saw some scholars in ancient biology saying they'd never seen it before.]

[But this short-haired guy identified it instantly!]

[It seems this Song Yiqing isn't completely useless after all!]

[This is hilarious. This kid is just a nobody, can what he says be correct?]

[If experts couldn't identify the ancient creature, can he?]

[I agree with the person above. He's probably just talking nonsense and is going to get this martial arts hunk killed!]

[Poor guy! Such a strong martial arts hunk is going to end up dying at the hands of a stupid teammate.]

Song Yiqing glanced at the comments in the livestream room but didn't think much of them. Instead, he quickly continued.

"Although its shell is extremely hard, it also has a major weakness. Starting from its head, under the third plate of armor counting down, is its greatest vital point!!"

"There's a fleshy lump inside, which is the heart of the Underworld Flame Giant Scorpion. Once destroyed, it will definitely die!"

...
