Chapter 59: We've Become Assassins?
Shen Yuanshan and Shen Yuanhe exchanged looks, both seeing excitement in each other's eyes.
Dharma Image Realm?
They were in the Primal Chaos Realm!
Entering the Secret Realm, wouldn't they just go on a killing spree?
"Keep these spirit-forbidden jade talismans safe." Patriarch Shen Tianze handed the jade talismans to the two of them, and then, as if remembering something, asked, "Right, Third Uncle, Sixth Uncle, while you were in the Tiannan Mountains these past few days, did you happen to hear about the Blood Rain Pavilion?"
Shen Yuanshan's hand holding the teacup jerked, nearly spilling the tea.
He looked up, his eyes widening as he stared at Patriarch Shen Tianze.
"Blood Rain Pavilion? Tianze, why are you suddenly asking about that?"
Shen Yuanhe's heart also tightened. He subconsciously glanced at Shen Yuanshan before quickly looking away, raising his teacup to pretend he was drinking to hide his guilty conscience.
Patriarch Shen Tianze didn't notice their strange behavior and continued to talk to himself, "There have been rumors in the city these past two days that a mysterious power called the 'Blood Rain Pavilion' has appeared in the Tiannan Mountains. I heard the people from the Blood Rain Pavilion are ruthless and efficient. Even a Primal Chaos Realm Elder from the Tiangang Sect suffered at their hands."
He paused, his brow furrowing slightly. "I had someone look into it. It's said that this Blood Rain Pavilion has quite a background. Originally, it was an assassin organization from the Central Plains with an ancient Legacy and deep foundations; they even once had a Saint in their ranks. Later, for some reason, they declined and the entire sect moved to the Southern Region."
Shen Yuanshan: "..."
Shen Yuanhe: "..."
The two held their teacups, staring at each other with incredibly colorful expressions on their faces.
An assassin organization from the Central Plains?
An ancient Legacy?
Deep foundations?
Once had a Saint in their ranks?
Are they talking about them?
The corner of Shen Yuanshan's mouth twitched, and his lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but he found his throat blocked by something, unable to utter a single word.
Shen Yuanhe was no better. The hand holding his teacup trembled slightly, the tea sloshing around and spilling several drops onto the table.
He had only one thought in his mind—who was spreading rumors about them?
I just wore a black robe and a mask and got into a fight with someone. How did I become an assassin from the Central Plains?
And an ancient Legacy? Deep foundations? Once had a Saint?"
This is way too much of a stretch!
Seeing their strange expressions, Patriarch Shen Tianze's brow furrowed even deeper. "Third Uncle, Sixth Uncle, what's wrong?"
"No... it's nothing..." Shen Yuanshan gave a dry cough and set down his teacup, trying to make himself look normal. "I just think... this Blood Rain Pavilion sounds quite interesting."
"Interesting?" Patriarch Shen Tianze shook his head, his expression solemn. "I think this matter isn't simple. An assassin organization from the Central Plains quietly appearing in the Southern Region and choosing the Tiannan Mountains to make a move, killing someone from the Tiangang Sect... There's likely some plot behind this."
Shen Yuanhe couldn't help but ask, "Tianze, what do you think they're plotting?"
"The Great Emperors Secret Realm," Patriarch Shen Tianze said without hesitation. "The Blood Rain Pavilion appeared in the Tiannan Mountains and made a move against the Tiangang Sect at this critical juncture. They likely want to fish in troubled waters and get a piece of the pie."
He stood up and stood with his hands behind his back, his tone carrying a hint of wariness. "A power from the Central Plains like this has unfathomable foundations. Although it's said their Saint has already passed away, who knows if they have other trump cards? Our Shen Family must be careful when entering the Secret Realm this time. Don't run into anyone from the Blood Rain Pavilion."
Shen Yuanshan and Shen Yuanhe looked at each other, both seeing the strangeness in the other's eyes.
Running into the Blood Rain Pavilion?
That's impossible!
They were the Blood Rain Pavilion!
"Tianze is right." Shen Yuanshan nodded solemnly. "The people of the Blood Rain Pavilion are ruthless and not to be provoked. We must give them a wide berth."
Shen Yuanhe also chimed in, "Right, right, right. Give them a wide berth, a wide berth."
Patriarch Shen Tianze glanced at the two of them, feeling that something was off, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
"One more thing." Patriarch Shen Tianze pondered for a moment before instructing, "Entering through the small Secret Realm entrance is an advantage for us, as we've already explored that Secret Realm. Now that it's connected to the Great Emperors Secret Realm, there are many opportunities. If you get the chance, gather more Heaven And Earth Treasures. Although our Shen Family has accumulated some things over the years, our foundations are still a bit lacking compared to the Seven Great Sects."
"Understood." Shen Yuanshan stood up and stretched. "Tianze, if there's nothing else, Old Sixth and I will head back to prepare."
"Wait." Patriarch Shen Tianze stopped them and took two Storage Pouches from his robe, handing them over. "Third Uncle, Sixth Uncle, inside are some healing Medicinal Pills and Spirit Stones for recovering Qi. Take them with you. We don't know how long you'll be in the Secret Realm; it's better to be prepared."
Shen Yuanshan took the Storage Pouch and swept his Divine Thought inside. Neatly stacked within were several hundred High-Grade Spirit Stones and over a dozen bottles of Medicinal Pills, all of high quality.
He chuckled and patted Patriarch Shen Tianze on the shoulder. "Tianze, you've thought of everything."
Patriarch Shen Tianze rolled his eyes. "Third Uncle, Sixth Uncle, you should be careful too. We don't know the situation inside that Great Emperors Secret Realm. Even though your cultivation is higher than most, it's not without danger. By the way, five people will be exploring the Secret Realm this time; Second Uncle and the others will be going as well."
"Second Brother is coming out of seclusion?" Shen Yuanshan was startled. In recent years, several of their Elders had been in seclusion frequently.
Second Brother's cultivation was deeper than theirs, though they didn't know how far he was from the Asking Dao Realm.
"Yes, Second Uncle, Fifth Uncle, and Seventh Uncle will all emerge from seclusion before entering the Secret Realm." Patriarch Shen Tianze nodded slightly.
The two were somewhat delighted; they hadn't seen each other for quite some time.
"Tianze, we're leaving." The two turned and walked out of the hall.
---
The night was deep, and only a few lanterns remained lit along the winding corridors of the Shen Mansion, their orange glow casting mottled shadows on the bluestone floor.
Shen Yuanshan and Shen Yuanhe walked side by side under the corridor, neither of them speaking.
It wasn't until they were a hundred yards away from the main hall and certain no one else was around that Shen Yuanhe let out a long breath.
"Third Brother, what's the deal with that Blood Rain Pavilion? Who made up those lies?"
Shen Yuanshan's expression was grave as he said in a low voice, "Old Sixth, you don't think... there really is a Blood Rain Pavilion, do you?"
"Huh?" Shen Yuanhe was startled. "No way? I just said it randomly. Could I have actually run into the real thing?"
His expression immediately became solemn. "If there really is a Blood Rain Pavilion, wouldn't we be offending them by causing trouble under their name?"
Shen Yuanshan nodded slightly. "We can't use the identity of the Blood Rain Pavilion anymore, and we must destroy those outfits!"
He glared at Shen Yuanhe, slightly annoyed. "Old Sixth, next time you make up a lie, make it a good one!"
"Is this my fault? I just said it off the top of my head. Who knew I'd run into it?" Shen Yuanhe gave a sheepish smile, feeling quite speechless.
He knew so many words; how many combinations could there be to form a three-character name?
Yet, despite the tiny probability, he had actually run into it.
Could it be that the Heavenly Dao was intentionally making things difficult for him!
