416: Chapter 407 The Sixth Incarnation: Heavenly Venerable (Ninety-Five)

The Dao Monarch of Destiny's voice, like the cold iron laws of destiny, struck the Dao Hearts of the Nine Most Ancient Dao Lords with an absolute will that brooked no question or defiance.

Every word seemed to manifest into physical grey chains, entwining their Divine Souls, Dao Fruits, and even the very Origin of their existence, making them tremble with powerlessness and a creeping sense of despair from the depths of their Souls.

Who were they?

They were the Most Ancient Dao Lords who had existed since the creation of heaven and earth, wielding the Root Great Dao, looking down upon the eternal Reincarnation, and living as long as the Dao itself!

They were the true Dominators of the myriad worlds, existences standing at the Peak of the Dao!

Yet at this moment, before this Dao Monarch of Destiny who had returned through Rebirth and sat beside the "throne of the dao"—his aura resonating ever more deeply with it—they seemed to have become fish on a chopping block, puppets on strings, gripped tightly by that invisible hand called "destiny," finding it incredibly difficult to even move a finger or turn a single thought!

This was not merely a suppression of power.

It was a deeper denial and deprivation concerning the "meaning of existence" and "possibility"!

Under the gaze of the Dao Monarch of Destiny's grey eyes of Chaos, all their past glory, struggles, schemes, and even the "trajectory" of their own existence became pale and fragile, as if the conclusion had long been written.

Resistance?

Defiance?

From the very beginning, those seemed to be futile, laughable options that were "destined" to never truly have "existed."

The phantom of the river of time in the silver eyes of the Dao Lord of Time almost came to a standstill, reflecting his own distorted, unwilling face bound by invisible chains.

The rust-covered chains of the Dao Lord of Order hung limply, and the divine light of Order upon them rapidly dimmed and crumbled under the wash of the grey destiny Dao Rhyme.

The abyss of deathly stillness around the Dao Lord of Death was shrinking, as if even "death" itself felt fear and retreated before that absolute "destiny."

The other Ancient Venerables, regardless of their Dao characteristics, were now like insects frozen in grey amber, able only to convey through their eyes a heaven-shaking fury, boundless shock, and a sliver of... fear toward that unavoidable "inevitability" that even they were loath to admit.

The Dao Monarch of Destiny was indifferent to their reactions.

The declaration was over; the struggles and emotions of ants were not worth a second thought.

He slowly withdrew his loosely clenched right hand, as if he had just completed an insignificant action.

Then, he turned around once more to face the brilliant "throne of the dao," which was overflowing with Dao Rhyme like a sea, as if it were silently calling out to him.

In his grey eyes were reflected the brilliance of the throne, as well as the life trajectories of all living beings throughout the myriad worlds and across all time.

He lifted his head slightly, his greyish-white hair fluttering gently in the invisible waves of Dao Rhyme. The Light and Shadow of destiny on his Dao robes accelerated its flow, creating an even stronger resonance with the vast Dao Rhyme emitted by the throne, as if the two were two sides of the same entity.

An indescribable sense of majesty and holiness radiated from him.

He was no longer just that Dao Monarch of Destiny who had "luckily won by half a move against heaven," but more like... a soon-to-be-crowned one who would govern all destiny and "inevitability"...

God.

He took a single step forward.

Beneath his feet was the final step of the heavenly ladder, the last step toward that supreme throne.

As this step was taken, the entire mysterious domain seemed to shake, cheer, and worship!

Endless light erupted from the throne, transforming into billions of Dao-principle chains that hung down, into a holy rain of light that scattered, and into a grand and majestic Dao sound that echoed!

The light of the heavenly ladder also surged, as if paving a glorious path to welcome its master.

Before this vast pressure and spectacle, the fury and unwillingness in the eyes of the nine frozen Ancient Venerables seemed to be covered and suppressed by that pure light and Dao Rhyme, leaving only a dazed, almost sluggish... blankness.

Could it be...

Is it really over just like this?

Eternal planning and endless slaughter, only to end up as a wedding dress for someone else?

destiny...

Was he truly going to reach the Peak, take control of the Dao, trample them all underfoot, and even turn them into sacrifices for his mastery over the ten thousand Daos?

The Dao Monarch of Destiny's steps were steady and firm as he stepped onto the final stair, coming within arm's reach of the "throne of the dao."

He could even feel the majestic, ultimate Dao Rhyme on the throne that could complete everything, sublimate everything, and lead to the final Soul Transformation. It wrapped around him like a warm tide, calling to him.

He closed his eyes slightly, as if feeling, resonating, and preparing to welcome the final coronation that belonged to him.

However, in this epic moment of absolute silence where only the Dao sound roared, and the destiny pressure enveloped everything, as if even time and destiny were to be frozen here to witness this historical scene—

"Heh..."

A soft chuckle, almost negligible yet filled with obvious mockery and disdain, abruptly yet exceptionally clearly pierced through the grand Dao sound and the vast pressure.

The source of the sound was not the nine frozen and immobile Most Ancient Dao Lords.

But rather from—

Below the heavenly ladder, at the edge of that "eternal instant," a figure whose aura had been fading and seemed to have long been forgotten by everyone.

Wei An.

This Humanity Dao Monarch, who had become like a flickering candle in the wind after slaying the True Body of the Dao Lord of Destruction in the previous battle, had also once tried to fight for a sliver of survival.

His broken dao body was nearly transparent, and his flame of Origin was so weak it could be extinguished at any moment. He leaned against a shattered, frozen fragment of time and space, looking utterly wretched, as if he would completely perish in the next moment.

Yet it was such a dying fellow, who looked like he could die at any moment and might not even be worthy of being a "sacrifice," who now raised his cracked head, whose original features were almost unrecognizable. With eyes that held only the last faint glimmer of light but were exceptionally calm and even tinged with playfulness, he looked toward the end of the heavenly ladder, at the brilliant Dao Monarch of Destiny who was about to sit on the throne and seemed to have become the sole protagonist of heaven and earth.

The Dao Monarch of Destiny, about to take his seat, came to a complete halt.

He did not sit down immediately, nor did he strike out in rage.

He only slowly, very slowly, turned around. Those grey eyes of Chaos, which seemed to contain all the life trajectories of the myriad worlds, were like two cold pools that had been silent for eternity as they cast their gaze upon the dying figure below who seemed about to dissipate at any moment—Wei An.

Wherever his gaze landed, the invisible destiny pressure descended upon Wei An's broken dao body like a physical mountain, causing his already weak flame of Origin to flicker violently and the cracks on his dao body to instantly widen, as if he would completely crumble in the next moment.

However, Wei An only gave a muffled groan, a stream of even dimmer Dao Rhyme light spilling from the corner of his mouth. Those eyes, calm yet playful, still met the indifferent grey eyes of the Dao Monarch of Destiny without flinching.

Silence, like a cold tide, filled the Void Realm frozen by the power of destiny.

The light of the heavenly ladder seemed to dim for a moment, and the flow of the throne's Dao Rhyme showed a slight hesitation.

Even though the nine frozen Ancient Venerables could not move, their eyes involuntarily turned toward that broken figure that seemed ready to be extinguished at any moment, filled with unbelievable shock.

How... how dare he?!
